I know when I used to paint bodies 15 years ago, we would let the cans of paint sit in hot water for about 10 minutes before painting. This would thin the paint in the can and increase the aerosol pressure in the can. Is this still a good thing to do these days with the newer paints?
if u don't mind me adding, the method u showed by scoring the lexan to ur desired lines only work really work for thin lexans like the one u use and one other example is on-road tc bodies, they're usually very thin. me i use tamiya bodies, whilst they have great details unfortunately it's too thick to just score it so u need to trim it down till there's about 1mm left and then sand it down.
when you go to the proline website does it say this body is for the stampede but when really you can use it for the e-maxx because i cant find one that says its for the e-maxx
@94BrunoO hi mate thanks for watching ,all lexan bodyshells that come clear are painted on the inside for a few reasonseg the paint wont wear off if you flip the car also the moulded bodies look like a gloss laquer so you get an amazing look when you peel the protective film off the outside ,only hard bodies are usually painted on the outside :)
do they give instructions for how to paint the body with pro-line bodies cuz i never mess with rc bodies and i want to buy a pro-line body for my slash 4x4
Hey good video just wonderin if you could help me out with the ken block style dribble effect. I got a losi 1/24 rally and the feisty shell which is the non registered fiesta. So help on how to paint that would b great cheers. P.s no any place for good small monster decals thanx
Alright mate informative vid. I just sorta messing round with this hobby stuff and got myself a micro. The old losi 1/24 rally and I decided to do a ken block style for a laugh. Now I got the feisty shell which is the fiesta shell but for obvious reasons it ain't. But just thinking what the odds of me doin a good job on the black dribble effect wen I not done it before. If u could throw a tutorial of something that complicated up it would b much appreciate. Also any info on where to get sticker
@blingkingIV you can ream or drill the holes afterwards then with most rc lighting kits you get a plastic holder that slots in the hole then push the led in and it holds nice and neat :)
check ebay for rc lighting kits ...and hobbyking do a real good one
alternatively if you have aset of headlights eg then you could mask the headlamps do all the painting and then it will be clear to fit lights behind it :)
@93foxrodstang50 yes 2 or 3 coats of color then the backing color ..with pactra the metalics are backed with black but either silver or black would be fine(not white) add a couple of coats ,or until its nice and smoothly covered ...hope this helps mate!
Ok. Clearing and drying is importent right? I can See this on every Videos. And i know it. But Importent for me is only painting and drying. Did you take an hair dryer by dring? Or how Long did wait by one color? I mean: 1 Small painting 2 drying how Long??? 3 more Colour painting 4 drying how Long ?? 5 finish painting 6 dring how Long??? 7 Remove mask 8 Same again with Next Colour Or did you paint more than 3 Times with One Colour? How many? How often i had to paint and how Long should i w
@Tyrant482 ok mate il try and help usually we use a hairdryer on low settings ..we dry every coat some colours need 2 or 3 coats and we dry in between for 5 minutes with hairdryer or until it looks dry ...hope this helps!
@mustangcarter199 the backing colour is required to make the dark colours dark or the light colours light otherwise they dont work well especially pearl colours and fluros if you dont back some of them they are clear :)
please can u tell me the exact stuff u used from wheelspin models because i am a reguluar customer there and i really want to have ago also is there any tips i should know about also just to let u know my grandad used to paint trucks! so he might come in handy!!
@SUPERPCFLYER1111 haha yes mate we use the pactra paints they seem to be very good ....also make sure after you have cleaned your body you dont touch the inside with your bare hands as the greases on skin react with paint ...oh and you may be best drilling or REAMING your body holes out ...they have reamers at wheelspin ...remember your backing color too ...si or ant will help you out mate let em know youve been talking to steve fromteamblackcountry ;)
@TraxxasGuyify thanks! hope it helps ;) ...time is the biggest thing if you dont take a little time it will reflect so enjoy it and take a day out ;) ...be nice to see a vid of your new shell im sure it will inspire others !
how long does it take for it to dry? Ive got my red base coat all done, and its ready for the white overcoat when its done drying. But generally how long does it take it for it to completely dry for the base coat?
@somekid908 well i use a hair drier on half blast and hold it a good distance just gently drying it for 5 minutes until it looks dry the do the next coat ...25 minutes if not would be more than enough ...make sure the red has a couple of coats in the corners especially ;)
@TEAMBLACKCOUNTRY Thankyou again ;). And yes it has about 3 coats all the way around and 3-4 coats at the corners. It doesn't look as good as yours though. when i cut off the access plastic it was way rougher then what yours came out to be. But this is and was my first time ever painting a body.
@somekid908 brilliant the cutting is hard you have to score it smoothly ...i use a stanley knife as they are tough and be quite positive about it ...you will get better every time ;) ...would like to see your body once youve stickered it ...get a quick vid up ;)
Im about to do this to the exact same body for my flux. So you dont paint the outside of the shell? You just paint the inside? And since its clear, it will look like you did the outside to? I have a red base coat, and then a white. Im in need of some help. Please respond quickly.
@somekid908 yes paint it in reverse so if you wanted a red car paint it red then back it in a backing colour usually white for red (white for lighter/brighter colours and black for pearlescents and dark colours ) ...yes when you paint the inside and then remove the clear plastic on the outside it looks like youve laquered it from the outside ...any other q's just ask mate ;)
@thespirit7777 the tamiya paints are available in aus mate ...normal car paints wont work well ,they flake off easily...il send you a link in your messages
