The Blue Background Aqura is brought back in this campaign, other CBS campaigns like 1979's Looking Good and 1980's Looking Good Together used the blue background aqura.
I think the guy that wrote this song is Steve Karmen, the guy who wrote "(Hershey is) the great american chocolate bar" jingle. There was a sound to the late 70s early 80s - military drum beat and happy singers. (When you say Buuuudwiser... you said it all") - BTW.. these shows look horrible.
CBS was great in the earlys 80s, by the end of the decade, they STUNK! I couldn't believe the programming that they were airing! No wonder NBC "was the place to be!" LOL
~screw Obama, I think America should vote for Osama Bin Laden if at all possible, America needs to convert to Islam, yet our children all need cell phones and sex education by 5th grade, multiculturalism is the only prospect because all else has been exhausted and it's racist to think not, folks who do not agree with our new socialist government should be imprisoned and sodomized the rest of their lives and all entertaining TV is confrontational reality shows with in-your-face badass subjects.
@PupuTheClown I believe you been taking one too many hits of the crack pipe there pal. And in one response to the sodomization of us, we have 4 names for you, look them up. Smith & Wesson, Colt, and Winchester !!!!
you mean having Obama for president ?,,lol,,well I think the 70s were a tad better than the 80s, I was a teen in the 80s but the preteen years & the music of the time were much better.
I gave you a thumbs up for this comment because it's the total truth! No matter how much you try to explain this kind of stuff, and try to explain how things were during the earlier part of the 80s when these were made, to kids born in the latter part of the 80s they won't ever understand it. They'll most likely write it off as "crap" because they don't understand it and weren't alive at that time.
Great to see someone your age who appreciates this :)
I was 26 back in 1983, so I know what it was like back then, but to be frank and honest with you, back then wasn't as good or as bad as it is now. I can tell you a few things in the 80s that weren't so great...
If we take off the rosy-tinted glasses called nostalgia and see it for what it really was, it would be the same.
@donjabroni -take off the rosy-tinted glasses called nostalgia and see it for what it really was, it would be the same-
Dude, the towers were still standing, Reagan was a dad to us all and we didnt have folks groping the heck outta of us at the airport... I´ll take the 80s thanks very much.
This is a GREAT ad campaign the had. You know what's really sad, and what the younger kids will NEVER understand is back then people gave a DAMN about their work, they were proud of it and it bothered them if they put out stuff like what is considered acceptable these days :( THAT'S how we got stuff like this. A great song that's easy to get stuck in your head.
Where have effort and creativity like this gone? How is it that laziness and no effort at all are considered acceptable now? :(
What wonderfull memories this brings back...and it was free...Cable was inexpensive if you had service where you lived...The economy was great and the national debt was 1/10th what it is today...We had pride as a country and we were united as a people.Great feel good video...What happened to it all?
I'll drink to that, IIRC, cable was like $15 a month or something like that and that included HBO. I could have (and would have ) voted for Reagan in 1984 but registered too late. I truly miss those days. Although this is a CBS video, NBC was king then and one of my favorite businesspeople was Brandon Tartikoff of NBC. One thing though that makes it easy, I'm watching the same TV now as I did then, our newest main set is a 1982 Zenith. It's been in daily use since early 1983.
,,those Zenith & Magnavox sets were the best in my opinion, RCA was crap & everybody loved them, on the other hand I own a Proton (Japanese) tv monitor, better than the trinitron at that time & most expensive to buy in 1986, it came with a darkened glass plate that goes in front of the set.
Yeah, didn't have much experience with RCA's, the other side of the family used them although from about 1962 to 1990 or so, my aunt used an RCA Vista Color with a round picture tube (a "roundie") that lasted a long time. At our end, we were more into Zeniths.
Yeah, I hear ya, man. It was a better time, better shows and so on. Although NBC was king and the great Brandon Tartikoff was running things over there, CBS did have their own share of great programs like "Whiz Kids," "Magnum P.I.," "Airwolf," and so on. The 1980's were the greatest. One thing that makes the present bearable to me is I still watch the same 1982 Zenith now as we did then when it was new.
I went to the trouble of converting this promo. The "We've Got The Touch" Ad campaign lasted a couple of years and I have the full length one they did in '85 in mp3 format too. If ya want it just let me know and I'll try to get it to ya :) The quality after conversion is REALLY good.

You know something:
This promo not only makes me very happy (I love anything from the 80s) it also makes me sad
The 80s were a simpler, happier time
Sad to think a lot of kids (me included) were born too late in the decade, and must grow up in the world the way it is now
