Cause there's no other place feels like home. A home should be a place where everyone in the family get together and where everyone's comfortable most. Those of you who sent their elderly to such "HOME," wait till it's your turn and see how you like it.

Basically, the old woman was supposed to be given a change of clothes, so the nurses stripped her. She had to endure thirty minutes of sitting under a fan completely naked before she would get her clothes. Then, in order to put her to bed, the nurses grabbed her by arms and legs and simply tossed the woman to bed.

This is terrible! It's not just in Singapore either. I volunteered at a nursing home in Texas and they were only slightly better than in this video. When I was there, this elderly lady was coughing and just needed a glass of water, but there was no where for her to get one and I had to struggle with the hired staff to finally just get her a simple glass of water. It's really shameful how the elderly are treated in these homes. Singapore needs to step it up but so does America.

i think around S$500 to S$700. So there is a possibility for getting frustrated easily coz of the financial issues they facing.

@JustFlyingColors You're right in that it should not occur, and I agree I would be very hurt and distressed to find this out if my relatives were treated as poorly. But insinuating that harming or killing these nurses is called for is downright insanity. You could say the same about parents who discipline their children; they deserve to die, too?

maybe this is a wake up call for all those children who want to send their parents to the nursing home! If you love your parents like you claim you are then take care of them!!!!! Shoving them off to the nursing home so you don't have be burdened then you shouldn't expect some strangers to do it a good job.

In Singapore, you pay 1K to bring your dog for grooming. Your dog gets treated like a king.
But when you pay 1K to nursing homes to take care of the elderly, they get treated worse than animals.

This is terrible! It's not just in Singapore either. I volunteered at a nursing home in Texas and they were only slightly better than in this video. When I was there, this elderly lady was coughing and just needed a glass of water, but there was no where for her to get one and I had to struggle with the hired staff to finally just get her a simple glass of water. It's really shameful how the elderly are treated in these homes. Singapore needs to step it up but so does America.

The nursing home has 50 patients aged between 50 and 90 years. It has 14 staff nurses, all of them foreign workers coming from the Philippines and Sri Lanka.
none of them are singaporean except for the patients there.

my grandma was at a home rehabilitating after breaking her arm. this is horrible. its horrible for elders to have to be there. if they are anything like my grandma, than they truly ache to walk again in there own house. these guys should get arrested.

I know where you're coming from. But look at Japan. Almost 1/3 of the country are the elderly. Their population is growing old and so are singapore's with Birth rates of only 1.16. That means less independents to support the dependents (elderly). Singapore being an urban city, many of us do not have time to look after our parents the full 24h. Nursing homes do not only look into the elderly but also the handicapped who are short on cash. I hope I've answered

@youtubby6 dude, not all Singaporeans send their elderlies to nursing homes. You live elsewhere that isn't as small and populated as Singapore. Property prices are EXTREMELY high and though our cost of living is lower, our average salaries here are even lower, so some people can have their grandparents taken care of better in elderly homes than themselves.
Put yourselves in others shoes, oh wait, you are too dumb to even think.

I agree that this isn't the right way of treating elderlies and I'm not happy too. But this doesn't mean ALL of our folks are being treated this way. This is the nursing homes fault in itself, that's all.
And why do we send our elderlies there? Good question. We aren't as wealthy as all of you. Good enough?
