@FRAGIORGIO1 Now you can cry all you want about alliances and how it wasn’t only the Americans, but that ONLY holds true after the fact that America saved everyone’s asses first.
@Salieri325 The USSR battled against some 117 divisions in the east, while the US and UK fought about 17. Our help in supplies and the offensive from the west with Brits, Canadians, Free French, etc. was certainly very important, but you make yourself into an "ugly American" by your attitude. The US people and government never had that attitude.
@FRAGIORGIO1 But he didn’t. Instead he ordered the German Luftwaffe to attack civilian sectors in an attempt to buy time for his SA to cross the channel and defeat Britain in a ground battle. By doing this he gave Britain a chance to fight back, which was his only mistake. If he had simply bombed the hell out of the right places, you would be speaking German right now.
@Salieri325 The RAF flew out of country fields hastily made from farms with their Hurricanes and Spitfires (and the not-so-effective Boulton-Paul Defiants). What were the Nazis to bomb, as if they didn't bomb what they could. Did you ever see "The Battle of Britain" with Trevor Howard, Christopher Plummer, and Laurence Olivier? That would give you a good visual idea of what it was like. It was moving to see the Lancaster, Hurricane, and Spitfire fly over at the Queen "mum's" death.
@FRAGIORGIO1 He let the British troops cross because he didn’t want to Luftwaffe to gain all the glory of the battle (he wanted his SA to be called the victors so he could be kept in power). And when the Battle of Britain began Hitler could have easily won if he had bombed the city’s airports, banks, transit systems, military outposts, and political sites.
@Salieri325 The Brits were saved by the hundreds of little boats and warships that brought out the troops and the RAF and RN battled the Luftwaffe. When the Battle of Britain began in seriousness, the Luftwaffe was blown out of the sky! Hitler had to give up his dream and what had been Napoleon's dream before Trafalgar!
@FRAGIORGIO1 And you want to make the claim that it wasn’t only the Americans? Britain had already lost the war at the Battle of Dunkirk. They had no hope after that. They were beaten back from the border of France and Germany all the way to the channel. Hitler decided to be a moron and instead of killing the British troops as they evacuated he waited.
@Salieri325 The British didn't lose the war at Dunkirk! They had to retreat from the continent, but after that there was the Battle of Britain iand the RAF in a heroic effort defeated the Luftwaffe. The Royal Navy was still intact and battled the U-boats ferociously, sinking hundreds. The UK was short on supplies and FDR agreed to Lend Lease giving some old four stack destroyers to Britain and needed supplies. The British beat Rommel at El Alamein in Egypt. The US landed in Africa in 1942.
@FRAGIORGIO1 And it was in that retreat that he lost. The Russian troops that had surrounding the city prevented him from escaping. Having suffering casualties within the city and the army being in an exhausted state from the winter, the Russians made short work of them on their way out.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Hitler would have been able to hold out in Stalingrad as well if Mussolini didn’t fucking invade the Balkans and Ethiopia. That forced Hitler to send a substantial part of his army back to aid him as Mussolini began to lose on that front. Compound that with the fact that the Americans were making a solid effort in the Pacific and would soon be racing to Berlin from the western front, Hitler had no choice but to retreat from Stalingrad.
@Salieri325 Ethiopia was invaded in 1935! The Balkans were invaded in 1941. Thousands of Italian troops went into the Soviet Union to fight with the Germans. Didn't you know that ? In 1942 in the Pacific, the US was very hard pressed. We lost four carriers leaving only the Enterprise active in the South Pacific after the battle of Santa Cruz in October, and the Marines were still slugging it out on Guadalcanal. The Germans didn't retreat. They got beaten and gave up in 1943. Read, guy.
@dbzman1985 Funny you should say that, since you like science and reason, at least in theory. It was Pius XII who told Catholics that there was nothing to fear from Evolution, that all that was necessary was to admit the creation of the human soul was the work of God and not of mere physical evolution. Furthermore, in "Divini afflante Espiritu" he promoted the scientific study of the Bible by criteria that are historical, linguistic, and literary, as well as others! No fundamentalist !
FRGAGIORGIO1 PUKES, "It was Pius XII who told Catholics that there was nothing to fear from Evolution,."
>So, Pope (Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli) Pius XII who mentored der nazi Fuehrer to power for the papacy's 20th century un-Holy Inquisition of european Jewry claimed there's nothing to fear of lay jesuit Erasmus Darwin's evolution myth, created to undermine the Bible in the minds of men in hopes there hearts will soon follow for the papacy's antichrist NWO. Thanks for that heads up!
@P1B1U1H1 Amity with those who had conquered Christian north Africa and the Iberian peninsula, persecuted Christians, and converted with the sword?? Christians were also seized in ships in the Mediterranean and made into slaves! Be logical, or at least study history.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Vatican created Islam, using it to block the gospel message from N. Africans and genocidal crusade against Jews of North Africa and bible believing Blacks and Arabs.
3. In the twelfth century Our predecessors Innocent II, Lucius II, and Alexander III accepted the service of obedience offered by Alfonso Henriques, first Count of Portugal and afterward King.
________
Innocent II was Pope when Germany occupied Rome! His Lateran II had this notable canon: We also decree that those who in the subdiaconate and higher orders have contracted marriage or have concubines, be deprived of their office and ecclesiastical benefice.
@P1B1U1H1 There was already a law of continence and celibacy, that, if not observed by the clerics was cause to be deprived of office! You don't obey the law, you're out. The Law is the Law. You don't enter into a state if you're not going to observe the rules!
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."
The Law is the Law. You don't enter into God's Kingdom if you're not going to observe His rules!
2. And indeed there is a special reason why We, together with you, commemorate the liberty you have achieved, seeing that also by the efforts of the Roman Pontiffs, as is well known, your fatherland of old was a free state juridically constituted.
++++++++++
At the time, Portugal was under the boot of one of the foulest little (as in country size) dictators, Salazar. No he was not a fascist, but he was still a vile piece of cow manure. How could anyone speak of "liberty" in such a case?
@P1B1U1H1 Hello! He's talking about the INDEPENDENCE of Portugal 800 years ago and its regaining it in 1640 from Spain. The US gained its independence in 1776 (and 1783 by treaty), but what about the Blacks and the Indians and the men without property and ALL the women? Deal with one thing at a time!
You, Our Beloved Son, and Venerable Brothers and your very noble nation, this year will celebrate a most happy event, the eighth centenary of the independence of Portugal; it is the third since its restoration to freedom. We cannot pass this over in forgetfulness and silence
___________
Goodness me. He's slapping the Pope's who nobly condemned slavery, the Spanish slavery, in the face. It's very, very hard to read this. I do not blame him for failing to lay his life on the line.
@P1B1U1H1 It was good to celebrate the independence of Portugal, a nation that had to fight Muslim domination and independence itself from the Kingdom of Leon as well. What's wrong with that? He is only celebrating their independence, not every negative deed they may have committed, because all nations have committed some misdeeds. You are over interpreting. No praise or apology for slavery!! Read and understand.
@FRAGIORGIO1 When the celebrated is under the boot of a dictator and is historically the author of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the celebrant can hardly be said to be in favor of liberty. Popes who opposed slavery should be canonized first. Let's proceed:
4. And indeed the Catholic faith, which nourished the nation of Portugal from its very origin, was the principal force which raised your fatherland to the peak of its glory, extending the boundaries of both religion and empire[1]
@P1B1U1H1 It was also the third centenary since Portugal regained its freedom from Spanish control and put their own monarchs, the Braganzas, on the throne.
@P1B1U1H1 The pope is commemorating the eighth century of Portuguese independence from Muslims and the kingdom of Leon, and the third centenary of Portugal's regaining independence from Spain in 1640 after 60 years of Spanish domination. What's wrong with that? He's only writing about that ! Do you go to birthday parties to throw complaints about the celebrant's failings? No logic to your complaint.
SAECULO EXEUNTE OCTAVO. To the Venerable Brother, the Patriarch of Lisbon, the Archbishops, Bishops and other Ordinanes of Portugal and its overseas possessions, in Peace and Communion with the Apostolic See.
To Our Beloved Son, Venerable Brothers, Greetings and Apostolic Benediction.
____________
Should have been: To the country that may have redeemed itself from history's worst curse, the authorship of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. THIS WAS WRIT IN 1940..
@P1B1U1H1 Again, what's your problem?? He's greeting all the bishops of Portugal and its then overseas territories. If he had addressed a letter to the US in 1976 for our 2nd centenary, should he have addressed our past actions against Blacks, Hispanics, Chinese, Japanese, and American Indians, as well as many immigrant groups, or should he have mentioned our island colonies such as Samoa, Guam, the Virgin Islands, or our war against Mexico when we ripped off two fifths of Mexico? Think!
@FRAGIORGIO1 If we were under the boot of a dictator, I should think he would condemn us (at least I hope he would).I don't think Pope Benedict (whom I greatly admire) would write an encyclical on behalf of the ante-bellum South. To proceed: The Church adorned Portugal with all the embellishments of culture and rendered it worthy of its sacred endeavors in missions. Of this, history itself speaks and to this events testify most splendidly.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Re: the Treaty of Tordesillas in 1496 was drawn up to keep Portugal and Spain from fighting over the areas they had been exploring recently. England, France, Venice, the Netherlands were not in contention yet, although shortly after England began sending out feelers to North America (the Cabots).
@P1B1U1H1 The reference to Pope Calixtus II is a mistake. He existed before an independent Portugal. He conclude the Concordat of Worms in 1122 with the German Emperor Heinrich V. It was agreed that the ecclesiastical authority would confirm the ecclesiastical instruments of office to bishops, but that the secular could assist in bishops' elections and their investiture with any civil authority (some bishops were princes then). --see Alexander VI (Borja or Borgia)....
He did nothing to help the Jews, he just jumped ship when it looked like the Nazi's were going to be defeated and then rode the Jewish persecution gravy train because it was then safe to do so.
He kept his mouth shut to protect himself while others died.
@kevinturvy Actually, Pius was recognized by Jews worldwide and the New York Times for his frequent calls against racial and ethnic hatred and oppression, such as existed in the US where Blacks were oppressed and lynched, hispanics oppressed, American Indian children were kidnapped from their families to be "civilized", and Japanese-Americans families were put into concentration camps. Pincus Lapide, an ex-minister of state of Israel said Pius saved 860,000 Jews by a secret underground. Read!
FRAGIORGIO1 SAYS, "Actually, Pius was recognized by Jews worldwide and the New York Times for his frequent calls against racial and ethnic hatred and oppression"
>Deluded Labor Zionist 'traders to their race' Jews & Henry Luce Knights of Malta controlled NYTimes recognizes Pius XII's (the mentor of the Vatican's front man scapegoat Adolf Hitler for the antichrist papacy's 20th century heretic burning "Holy" Inquisition, dubbed "the holocaust") calls against oppression. Thats rich!
Pope Pius XII was no doubt a good man and a good Pope. Unfortunately I believe that he could have done more to save the Jews and even by at least issuing strong condemnations and talking specifically about the death camps, he could have halted the Holocaust in a way that no bombs or invasions could.
@Noogai45 Do you think he didn't condemn racial and ethnic hatreds many times? Do you think Schindler should have condemned the Nazis? Do you think if Pius had publicly singled out the Nazi only for the Jews that they would have become wobbly at the knees? You are not so very ingenuous are you? Did you know the Nazis killed some three million non-Jewish and mostly Catholic Poles in death camps? Did you know the Japanese crushed the Koreans and killed millions of Chinese?
@FRAGIORGIO1 Do you take me for a fool? Of course I know all about the atrocities, the murder of the Catholics and homosexuals and Gypsies, the Nanking massacre and the Sook Ching in Singapore. I am a Singaporean Chinese myself. But the fact is, he could have done more. In fact, how specific was he in his wartime broadcasts in highlighting the Holocaust? Not very specific I presume. And he doesn't need to talk only about the Jews, he could highlight the death camps IN GENERAL.
@Noogai45 He could have done MORE ?!!! That is insane. What did you want him to do? Launch a crusade? Denounce the Nazis publicly so they would get angry and attack all the Catholic institutions that were hiding the hundreds of thousands of Jews and kill them?. Do I take you for a fool? Only if you believe that would have been good. What about the other atrocities by the Japanese and the US and the Soviets, etc? Use your mind, man!
@FRAGIORGIO1 And whats the alternative? Hide in St. Peter's, hold hands and pray that everything will be alright? Do you seriously consider that a large number of Germans then were Christians. If the Nazis were so foolish as to attack the Churches and purge the clergy, they're going to face a backlash from the population. And what are you trying to point out about the atrocities committed by the US, Soviets and Japapnese etc.?
@Noogai45 The alternative was what Pius did: the underground of bishops, priests, nuns, and Vatican diplomats that saved hundreds of thousands of Jews. You are unaware that thousands of Catholic priests and Protestant ministers and faithful of both churches were in concentration camps and many died. You must think the Nazis were very scared of people's opinions. They ran over and brutalized anyone who stood up to them openly or even secretly. As for the other nations' atrocities.......
@Noogai45 As for the other nations' atrocities, there were plenty of atrocities and unjustices to condemn, not only against the Jews. Gypsies, homosexuals, political opponents, the physically disabled, Poles, etc. were oppressed and massacred. Why is the attention only on the six million Jews massacred? There were about 50 million dead in WW II. Are they not important too? Pius was a public advocate for all oppressed and hated while he saved hundreds of thousands of Jews in secret.
@Noogai45 Should Pius have denounced the atrocities of the Japanese, Soviets, and US by name? The US fire-bombed Tokyo so as to terrorize Japanese civilians who lived in wooden houses, and they killed about one million Japanese. Should Pius have condemned the US for the treatment of the Blacks and lynching? There was oppression all over the world, and not only against the Jews. Nevertheless, it was the Jews who were the most benefited by his work of the underground. About the underground.
@Noogai45 About the underground, did you know that Giuseppe Roncalli, later Pope John XXIII, was Papal Nuncio in Bulgaria first and later Apostolic Delegate in Turkey, and as a Vatican diplomat helped smuggle out some two thousand Jews through that route in Eastern Europe? Have you seen the movie "Assisi Underground" with James Mason as Bishop Placido Nicolini of Assisi (whom I met several times) who with Father Rufino of the Franciscans hid Jews in St.Clare's convent for nuns?
FRAGIORGIO1 POOPS, "He could have done MORE ?!!! That is insane. What did you want him to do? Launch a crusade? Denounce the Nazis publicly so they would.."
>Oh boy, that's rich. For anyone that's been under an indoctrination rock their entire life, Jesuit orchestrated World War II was Vatican Rome's 20th century Crusade of european Jewry, Protestants and 'uppity' liberal Catholics.
"Do you think Schindler should have..."-FRAGIORIO1
"Do you think if Pius had publicly..."-FRAGIORGIO1
"Did you know the Nazis killed..."-FRAGIORGIO1
"Did you know the Japanese crushed..."-FRAGIORGIO1
>Do people know your a prevaricating jesuitical lying deceitful intriguer, defending and covering up atrocities perpetrated by antichrist Popery and the nefarious minions of its military Jesuit Order, f-ckstick? Or are you simply obtuse?
"and ye may not call any your father on the earth, for one is your Father, who is in the heavens," -God, Mt 23:9
Aimed at those who combed the title Abba, or Father. Compare the title Papa - Pope.
"I find your comment highly offensive. Papa Benedict is a very holy man."-TridentinumZealot
>Can you read? What is it specifically about God's command that you don't understand? Suffering some r.c. indoctrination mental block, perhaps? Popes are not "holy" either according to God
@Noogai45 The Nazis would not be impressed by being condemned. They were fanatics and their power was ruthless. It is ingenuous to think that they would have been embarrassed and ashamed at being condemned by the pope and stopped doing their monstrous deed. Remember, they were led by a fanatical madman who, even at the end, thundered against his generals and the German people saying he should have killed his generals like Stalin had and that the German people were not worthy of him.
@FRAGIORGIO1 See the movie, "Downfall" ("Untergang" auf Deutsch) about Hitler's last days. It's a well-documented and fantastic movie that several critics thought worthy of an Academy Award, only that it was foreign and in a foreign language (but the message was universal).
Noogai45 DEFECATES, "Pope Pius XII was no doubt a good man and a good Pope."
>Cardinal Eugenio Pachelli mentored Adolf Hitler's rise to power while the Jesuits orchestrated the meteoric rise of the Nazi empire to carry out the 2nd half of their 30 Years War religious genocide Crusade and the papacy's 20th century heretic oven burning "Holy" Inquisition of european Jewry, you dumb ass.
"... he could have halted the Holocaust..."-Noogai45
After this Pope, Cardinal Siri was elected Pope on the conclave of 1958, and chose the name of Gregory XVII, and he alone was the true and lawful Pope, after Pius XII. He was forced by the French Cardinals and world freemasonry to resign, and was a prisoner of the Vatican during his 31 years of pontifical reign. John XXIII,Paul VI,JPI and II, and Benedict XVI are anti-Pope's carrying out the freemasonic agenda. Catholics, wake up!
@rooizilver Let's see if I have this straight. The cardinals are sealed inside the conclave. By two-thirds vote, they elect Siri Pope. They never come outside to announce his election, so, still behind closed doors, and right after electing him by a two-thirds vote, they were "forced" by French cardinals and "world freemasonry" to change? If the French cardinals had that much influence, why didn't they prevent the vote in the first place? How did "freemasons" get inside the conclave anyway?
@mindspring57 I don't know. I guess they wanted a canonically elected Pope, and than shut him out. Just to be sure the replacement "Pope" (Roncalli) was not the real one (the one supported by the Holy Spirit). Joseph Siri has told Father Khoat (a vietnamese priest) in 1988; "i am the Pope". He was a prisoner for the rest of his Pontificate.
@rooizilver Nuthouse 2011! Jesus said, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (the Church). You had better wake up or stop using those medications!
@rooizilver Giuseppe Siri of Genoa received a lot of votes, but there were others who had strong backing too. Roncalli =Giovanni XXIII was a compromise candidate. There were very few French cardinals, and how could "World Freemasonry" have influence in a Conclave (tighly closed session)? This is ridiculous. That Siri had aspirations and was strong and maybe was frustrated that after so many days of deadlock lost is just a show of how pretentious some people can be. You sound delirious.
its horrible, he doesnt fear the God who is in heaven, he consented being carried like a god? if he is really of God, he should have shown to the world ,Jesus christ example. being humble and lowly. he is the anti christ, open your mind!!!!!
@varistojamonbanua Dude. What are you smoking? May I care to ask just where you got all these sources from, that you speak of as if they are known facts? Historians have been grappling with the events around Pope Pius XII, Nazism, WWII for 70 years and even they have not come to a full confident conclusion as you have.
Also, thought you'd be interested to know that EVEN John Cromwell withdrew the thesis he presented in his "Hitler's Pope" after contrary evidences surfaced. Do some research!!!
@illusionoffame im sorry i dont smoke, i dont eat fish, chicken, beef, pork anything that has blood, im a vegetarian , i dont drink cola drinks, cafe, tea, i eat raw veges, its better to eat raw than cooked, raw vegetables has a lot of enzymes to help in digesting the foods that we eat , the enzymes in our body(brain, eyes, etc.) will not be disturbed , going to our stomach to help in digestion. im healthy and i have clear mind.
@illusionoffamei tell you, lack of knowledge is dangerous, i wont tell you where i gathered all my facts, now, if you are intelligent enough, you should have an idea at least thru reading all the comments below, but if you are FANATIC , your are blind although your not, your deaf although you can hear, narrow minded not open minded. you are type of person very hard to deal with.
@varistojamonbanua He was carried around on the sedia gestatoria so that the hundreds of thousands who came to see him could actually do so. It was a very old practice that is no longer used.
look at this video people, and open your minds!! the pope here is being carried by his servants, he is like god here, he allowed being carried by his servants, he forgot maybe the examples of Jesus Christ during the last supper services , as we all recall, it was d custom that time that all the guest foot must be wash by a servant before dining but the servant who will do it was not around, no one voluntered among the apostles so it was JESUS wash their dirty feet, its realli d exact opposite.
it is a big lie that the pope saves jewes children, theres no truth to that, he was being silent when millions of jews suffered and died in the concentration camp and much more in crematoriom and gas chamber, in fact it was the popes will to genocide the jews because these people are big threats to his political ambition. im very sorry to object the idea that the pope is holy and a man of God! he is the agent of the devil.
@varistojamonbanua Be careful! Satan is the father of lies, and you ignore facts to proclaim lies! Pius was recognized by Jews the world over then. Even a Jewish minister of state of Israel, Pincus Lapide, gave credit to Pius and his secret underground for saving 860,000 Jews.
@FRAGIORGIO1 It's a bit hard to speak out when guns are pointed at your throat. Some, such as the German Catholics who protested the murder of the handicapped in Germany, had such courage. Most of us, alack and alas, are like Pope Pius in that respect. I can't imagine any of us being like Deitrich Bonhoeffer. That Pope Pius was not merely makes him an ordinary person like the rest of us. His major flaw, in my opinion, was his support of the Portuguese Empire, a truly foul endeavor.
an accurate account of history places the catholic-Jesuit menace at the very heart of the hitler regime. it was catholic von papen and the catholic zentrum party that got hitler into power in 1933, and to show his gratitude , hitler's third reich was a model of papal principles at their worst, Hitler was merely a pawn in the hands of the jesuits of the papacy.
von papen says that the atrocities that hitler perpetrated during the second world war were the pronciples of the PAPACY!! can there be any doubt that the papacy is just as evil as was Hitler and his regime? Hitler himself admits he was helped by the methods of the jesuit counter -reformation to carry on his ideological war. we hav witness catholicism open support of every step taken by Nazi-Facism to impose authoritarian regimes upon all peoples.
@varistojamonbanua You sound seriously delusional. You need to read history, or more likely, see a psychiatrist or psychologist. There is medication. I hope your family and friends will help you and that God will heal your mind and heart.
d vatican helped Hitler to gain power and then helped him consolidare his grip on Germany. this was done in party by advising the catholic party of germany to vote for NAZI candidates. the catholic votes gave Hitler the majority he needed to legally form a govt. in 1933.further to this , the vatican ordered catholic member of the reichstag parliament to support legislation giving hitler the dictatorial power he needed to destroy the german communist.
I recommend John Cornwell’s ’Hitler’s Pope’ a serious book to all viewers. Cornwell lifts the lid on this mans deeds as a diplomat and as pope. I can't see any grounds for canonisation and, the idea of papal infallibility can't be tenable set against his actions of exposing Germany to fascism by the withdrawal of German catholics from political activity in the 30s through concordats with Hitler. Additionally, he was well aware of the plight of the Jews before and during WWII but said nothing!
@Socksbike You got your socks stuck in the wheels of the bike along with your brain! Concordats are usually held with problematic governments to gain a modus vivendi for Catholics under difficult circumstances. You say he said NOTHING? Lol! That is monumental ignorance! Sorry, but you're out of it. The Jews who criticize him simply say he could have done MORE, recognizing what he did. Wake up!
@mburns8395 Oops I gave you a thumbs up by mistake. Not that canonization means anything but are you overlooking the fact this demon vessel called pope pius xii was blessing bombers that Benito Mussolini was sending to drop poison gas on the innocent defenseless Ethiopians? This is the filthy excuse of a human being that people revere??
@kommonzenze He saved more Jews than any other single person FACT. he was trapped in Vatican City. The liberal media loves to distort his image along with other great people.
@kommonzenze Deine zenze ist nicht so kommon. He did not bless any bombers on missions of war. You are way off mark. The Ethiopian war was even before he became pope and was Vatican Secretary of State. The Vatican and Fascist Italy did not get along very well. In 1935 Pope Pius XI wrote an encyclical against Fascist abuses called "Non abbiamo bisogno". He and Pacelli were very anti Fascist and anti Nazi.
@lionhasalreadybe What are you talking about "the last good pope"?! John XXIII and John Paul II are already in process of canonization, and the latter was recently beatified. Paul VII and John Paul I were highly esteemed, although the former was opposed by many who wanted an approval of contraception.
Papal Romes well-documented history of hating and brutally persecuting Jews, Protestants, and Orthodox Christians throughout the centuries, (e.g., the Vaticans religious genocide in the 1940s against Serb Orthodox Christians in Fascist Croatia, where from 600,000 to 1 million men, women, elderly, and children were tortured and murdered by Roman Catholic Ustashi military units that were frequently led by Roman Catholic priests, friars, and monks);
@hoffabrando well documented by whom....This is a secular newsreel from 1958...There is only one Catholic military and that is the Swiss guards. I am sure there are manyCatholic sinners and bigots just as there are in all parts of society. There are no perfect humans on this planet --onlysinful ones. Jesus only promised that His Church would be here with His teachings intact(the deposit of faith) to guide the faithful till He comes again. He left no angels in charge--only man needing redemption!
@hoffabrando You are quite wrong. In the Middle Ages, the Jews of Europe asked the popes to protect them. The genocide in Fascist Croatia was not the result of the Vatican (stop being stupid), but Fascist hatred for the many Serbs living amonst them in Slavonia and part of Dalmatia (Krajina). This was repaid in the 1990s by Milosevic and his murderous thugs in Croatia (the Slavonia part) and in Bosnia. Unfortunately, there was hatred among the slightly different ethnic groups.
Pius XII was the last big Pope. When he died, 25% of world's population was Catholic. Today just 12% of world's population remains Catholic. Since 1980 decade, Islam is the biggest population. And more than 55% of today's babies are Islamics. I live in Brazil.
@daltonagre Yes, it's the end of the christian faith. But you can't put all the blame on the Popes. The problem is that the muslims breed like rabbits and have many kids while in the enlightened world during the last 50 years the pill and the gay liberties have reduced enormously the population growth rate. It's a tough battle.
@daltonagre Christianity has over 2,200,000,000 followers, of which some 1,200,000,000 are Catholics out of some 6 billion people Islam has over a billion but divided among Sunnis and Shiities as well as a few minor sects.
@Freeseselj You are wrong, because I remember a Croatian who had been with the Ustase was expelled from California by the US in the 1950s because he was accused of war crimes. It's just that some areas are not as well known in the US, such as Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, where there were crimes also.
@FRAGIORGIO1 Not only in the 1950s, but also the late president FD Roosevelt of blessed memory was regarded as pro Serb. However, today's US presidents and other administration officials, and the mainstream Western media (and the Israeli media, maybe to some extent from a later stage) either deny or don't mention Ustase crimes.
Ustase ... the pope had nothing to do with, the catholics in that part of the world though sinned by participating with that holocaust. Yet, other priests died by the thousands in western europe, especially poland, overall, he did let pavelic into the vatican, yet pavelic was a catholic, and maybe he wanted forgiveness, dont know what happened there..
When Pius XII died, 25% of mankind was Catholic. Today, just 12% of mankind is Catholic. Here in Brazil, Roman Catholicism fell from 95% in 1958, to 65% today. Pius XII was the last great pope.
@anaclet In Africa and in Asia in particular. It is being revitalized in former Communist countries that oppressed Christians, particularly Catholics. There are about one billion two hundred million Catholics in the world now (see World Almanac). Not bad for a religion in decline.
Hitler's Pope is a myth. There is no evidence to back up the claim. There is however historical evidence that proves tat Pope Pius XII savedmany jews, even b hiding thm in the vatican.
The final say will occur years from now, after the archives are fully opened. The Church is right to hold off for 75 years on such things; it's simply too recent to make a judgment about Pope Pius XII. Pope Benedict is neither a Nazi nor a fascist. He is, however, over 80 years old, which is why people need to cut him some slack as regards microanalysis of everything he says--the 80 year old without foot in mouth disease does not exist.
@P1B1U1H1 I myself read a book by Pincus Lapide, a former Israeli minister of state, who made that statement in his book. I can presume that someone in his position knows a good deal. Moreover, those Jews who complain about him are complaining because they say he could have done MORE, not that he didn't do anything. Pius had an underground made up of some bishops, priests, nuns, and Vatican diplomats who smuggled Jews to safety.
I could not belive after all the work he did to save many Jewish Children from Hitler he is known as the "Nazi Pope". I could not think of a greater sorrow for him as we speak.
@dacatholicbandorgan not a sorrow for him but a sorrow for us and the world but Satan always lies and attacks truth- That should be some comfort for us...especially today with a basically Satan controlled media-- that means he TRULY was a holy Servant of God! After all, there is very little reported in media today whose intent is not deception or distortion!!!!
@dacatholicbandorgan Amazingly truthseekers in other realms take these lies reported by media and run --- but Satanic control is becoming more and more obvious in the media---That, in and of itself, should begin to make people think . If the Catholic Church is continually attacked, many may begin to wonder and doubt the validity of these stories.
@dacatholicbandorgan What about all the work he did working alongside fascist regimes. He offered no opposition to Hitler, in fact, the regime of Hitler would have been impossible without Piux XII. His loyal tool Franz von Papen was Hitlers Vice Chancellor even. You ever heard of the Reichskonkordat? The vatican was always an ally of the fascist regimes, many of those fascist nations were actually openly ruled by catholic priests.
@dacatholicbandorgan He wasn't a Nazi, but he was the lead negotiator in the Concordat between the Nazi government and the Vatican, which required German Catholic clergy to swear allegiance to Hitler and the Third Reich. I regard Pius XII as a tragic figure who was far too passive in resisting the rise of fascism in Europe. He didn't start helping the Jews until the defeat of the Nazis was inevitable.
@dacatholicbandorgan He is called "Hitler's Pope" by the anti-Catholic author Cornwell. Anti-Catholics will always be ranting & raving and distorting. Jesus said, "They have hated Me; they shall also hate you". Satan is the father of lies, so it is not surprising that his minions are manipulating the media and many powerful organizations, particularly those that are atheistic or pro-abortion or pro-homosexual agenda.
@kld1966 HE was SOOO very happy to see them!!!. He went out in the streets to the people after every bombing. He was the only leader that stayed in Rome with the people . All others fled. His parents bones were even blown out of their graves. He sent runners to every convent and monastery to order them take in Jewish c itizens and hide them. 48 Jewish babies were born in his bed that he gave up for a nursery . and 5000 were hid on His grounds alone. He made sure they could do their Jewish worship
Pius XII was a true saint, who sadly could not defeat neomodernism (modernism in new disguise), but condemned it in Humani Generis (1950). In 1942 and 1937 he condemned Nazism, but could not prevent its take-over. He was a spiritual leader, not a general Zhukov. Pius XII was great. He converted supreme rabbi Israel Zolli of Rome to Catholicism in July 1945. Certain Jewish circles never forgave him. Like Irgun never forgave his refusal to recognize the state of Israel.

I agree with jjmcoates when he says that Pius XII saved so many people by opening, for example, the "sacrestia" of S.Peter's.
In Rome we call Him DEFENSOR CIVITATIS: he was the only one who was present among the enjured people when the U.S. Army dropped bombs on Rome (killing thousands of people and destroying several monuments), while the others (the king, the duce) had yet escaped.
Pius XII was a great man and a great Pope. he is another victim of an insidious secular attack on organized religion. He also saved thousands of Jewish lives during WW2
Look at how passive the monarchs of Europe were about the Third Reich! The kings spoke no criticism of Hitler for all the atrocities!! But NOBODY is blaming THEM or the royal families for that matter!!! Why??
This whole anti-Pius bias is Commie propaganda fueled by the leftist Barbara Streisand type of kike Jews who HATE ALL Roman Catholicism stands for!!!
Well, thanks for agreeing with me about Pius XII. He was one of the few to speak out against the Nazis. He was such an irritant to the Third Reich, that Hitler was considering kidnapping PiusXII. So, I am dumbfounded how any rational person can claim that he was pro-nazi.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hey NovaKid, don't confine your knowledge of History to American sources! He made a Secret Concordat with Hitler to remain quiet during the Holocaust! Do some real research. Incidentally, the Catholic church remained quiet and participated in for 400 years of the African Slave Trade!!!!!
The Concordat that Pius xii made with Nazi Germany was to protect the Catholic Church, I do not know your sources for this statement of yours. Also,Pius saved thousand of Jews during ww2. Finally, it was the British East India Co. that initiated the slave trade, though, the Catholic church should have been more vehement in condemming such a heinous crime.
You are incorrect my friend. Without casting aspersions, I am a Papal Scholar and for what it is worth the history you speak of bears out his innocence as well as his true compassion for all individuals.
@ndgermanrussian I don't like your way of talking about Jews. Probably what you are referring to are the non-believing Jews that hate the Catholic Church and Evangelicals to "show" that they are really Jews, even though they have Abandoned the God of

FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 But he didn’t. Instead he ordered the German Luftwaffe to attack civilian sectors in an attempt to buy time for his SA to cross the channel and defeat Britain in a ground battle. By doing this he gave Britain a chance to fight back, which was his only mistake. If he had simply bombed the hell out of the right places, you would be speaking German right now.
Salieri325 8 months ago
@Salieri325 The RAF flew out of country fields hastily made from farms with their Hurricanes and Spitfires (and the not-so-effective Boulton-Paul Defiants). What were the Nazis to bomb, as if they didn't bomb what they could. Did you ever see "The Battle of Britain" with Trevor Howard, Christopher Plummer, and Laurence Olivier? That would give you a good visual idea of what it was like. It was moving to see the Lancaster, Hurricane, and Spitfire fly over at the Queen "mum's" death.
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 He let the British troops cross because he didn’t want to Luftwaffe to gain all the glory of the battle (he wanted his SA to be called the victors so he could be kept in power). And when the Battle of Britain began Hitler could have easily won if he had bombed the city’s airports, banks, transit systems, military outposts, and political sites.
Salieri325 8 months ago
@Salieri325 The Brits were saved by the hundreds of little boats and warships that brought out the troops and the RAF and RN battled the Luftwaffe. When the Battle of Britain began in seriousness, the Luftwaffe was blown out of the sky! Hitler had to give up his dream and what had been Napoleon's dream before Trafalgar!
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 And you want to make the claim that it wasn’t only the Americans? Britain had already lost the war at the Battle of Dunkirk. They had no hope after that. They were beaten back from the border of France and Germany all the way to the channel. Hitler decided to be a moron and instead of killing the British troops as they evacuated he waited.
Salieri325 8 months ago
@Salieri325 The British didn't lose the war at Dunkirk! They had to retreat from the continent, but after that there was the Battle of Britain iand the RAF in a heroic effort defeated the Luftwaffe. The Royal Navy was still intact and battled the U-boats ferociously, sinking hundreds. The UK was short on supplies and FDR agreed to Lend Lease giving some old four stack destroyers to Britain and needed supplies. The British beat Rommel at El Alamein in Egypt. The US landed in Africa in 1942.
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 And it was in that retreat that he lost. The Russian troops that had surrounding the city prevented him from escaping. Having suffering casualties within the city and the army being in an exhausted state from the winter, the Russians made short work of them on their way out.
Salieri325 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 Hitler would have been able to hold out in Stalingrad as well if Mussolini didn’t fucking invade the Balkans and Ethiopia. That forced Hitler to send a substantial part of his army back to aid him as Mussolini began to lose on that front. Compound that with the fact that the Americans were making a solid effort in the Pacific and would soon be racing to Berlin from the western front, Hitler had no choice but to retreat from Stalingrad.
Salieri325 8 months ago

________
Innocent II was Pope when Germany occupied Rome! His Lateran II had this notable canon: We also decree that those who in the subdiaconate and higher orders have contracted marriage or have concubines, be deprived of their office and ecclesiastical benefice.
A nasty prohibition there.

2. And indeed there is a special reason why We, together with you, commemorate the liberty you have achieved, seeing that also by the efforts of the Roman Pontiffs, as is well known, your fatherland of old was a free state juridically constituted.

At the time, Portugal was under the boot of one of the foulest little (as in country size) dictators, Salazar. No he was not a fascist, but he was still a vile piece of cow manure. How could anyone speak of "liberty" in such a case?

P1B1U1H1 8 months ago
@P1B1U1H1 It was good to celebrate the independence of Portugal, a nation that had to fight Muslim domination and independence itself from the Kingdom of Leon as well. What's wrong with that? He is only celebrating their independence, not every negative deed they may have committed, because all nations have committed some misdeeds. You are over interpreting. No praise or apology for slavery!! Read and understand.
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 When the celebrated is under the boot of a dictator and is historically the author of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the celebrant can hardly be said to be in favor of liberty. Popes who opposed slavery should be canonized first. Let's proceed:
4. And indeed the Catholic faith, which nourished the nation of Portugal from its very origin, was the principal force which raised your fatherland to the peak of its glory, extending the boundaries of both religion and empire[1]

@FRAGIORGIO1 If we were under the boot of a dictator, I should think he would condemn us (at least I hope he would).I don't think Pope Benedict (whom I greatly admire) would write an encyclical on behalf of the ante-bellum South. Read!

Pope Pius XII was no doubt a good man and a good Pope. Unfortunately I believe that he could have done more to save the Jews and even by at least issuing strong condemnations and talking specifically about the death camps, he could have halted the Holocaust in a way that no bombs or invasions could.
Noogai45 1 year ago
@Noogai45 Do you think he didn't condemn racial and ethnic hatreds many times? Do you think Schindler should have condemned the Nazis? Do you think if Pius had publicly singled out the Nazi only for the Jews that they would have become wobbly at the knees? You are not so very ingenuous are you? Did you know the Nazis killed some three million non-Jewish and mostly Catholic Poles in death camps? Did you know the Japanese crushed the Koreans and killed millions of Chinese?
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 Do you take me for a fool? Of course I know all about the atrocities, the murder of the Catholics and homosexuals and Gypsies, the Nanking massacre and the Sook Ching in Singapore. I am a Singaporean Chinese myself. But the fact is, he could have done more. In fact, how specific was he in his wartime broadcasts in highlighting the Holocaust? Not very specific I presume. And he doesn't need to talk only about the Jews, he could highlight the death camps IN GENERAL.
Noogai45 8 months ago
@Noogai45 He could have done MORE ?!!! That is insane. What did you want him to do? Launch a crusade? Denounce the Nazis publicly so they would get angry and attack all the Catholic institutions that were hiding the hundreds of thousands of Jews and kill them?. Do I take you for a fool? Only if you believe that would have been good. What about the other atrocities by the Japanese and the US and the Soviets, etc? Use your mind, man!
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@FRAGIORGIO1 And whats the alternative? Hide in St. Peter's, hold hands and pray that everything will be alright? Do you seriously consider that a large number of Germans then were Christians. If the Nazis were so foolish as to attack the Churches and purge the clergy, they're going to face a backlash from the population. And what are you trying to point out about the atrocities committed by the US, Soviets and Japapnese etc.?
Noogai45 8 months ago
@Noogai45 The alternative was what Pius did: the underground of bishops, priests, nuns, and Vatican diplomats that saved hundreds of thousands of Jews. You are unaware that thousands of Catholic priests and Protestant ministers and faithful of both churches were in concentration camps and many died. You must think the Nazis were very scared of people's opinions. They ran over and brutalized anyone who stood up to them openly or even secretly. As for the other nations' atrocities.......
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@Noogai45 As for the other nations' atrocities, there were plenty of atrocities and unjustices to condemn, not only against the Jews. Gypsies, homosexuals, political opponents, the physically disabled, Poles, etc. were oppressed and massacred. Why is the attention only on the six million Jews massacred? There were about 50 million dead in WW II. Are they not important too? Pius was a public advocate for all oppressed and hated while he saved hundreds of thousands of Jews in secret.
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@Noogai45 Should Pius have denounced the atrocities of the Japanese, Soviets, and US by name? The US fire-bombed Tokyo so as to terrorize Japanese civilians who lived in wooden houses, and they killed about one million Japanese. Should Pius have condemned the US for the treatment of the Blacks and lynching? There was oppression all over the world, and not only against the Jews. Nevertheless, it was the Jews who were the most benefited by his work of the underground. About the underground.
FRAGIORGIO1 8 months ago
@Noogai45 About the underground, did you know that Giuseppe Roncalli, later Pope John XXIII, was Papal Nuncio in Bulgaria first and later Apostolic Delegate in Turkey, and as a Vatican diplomat helped smuggle out some two thousand Jews through that route in Eastern Europe? After this Pope, Cardinal Siri was elected Pope on the conclave of 1958, and chose the name of Gregory XVII, and he alone was the true and lawful Pope, after Pius XII. He was forced by the French Cardinals and world freemasonry to resign, and was a prisoner of the Vatican during his 31 years of pontifical reign. John XXIII,Paul VI,JPI and II, and Benedict XVI are anti-Pope's carrying out the freemasonic agenda. Catholics, wake up!
rooizilver 1 year ago
@rooizilver Let's see if I have this straight. The cardinals are sealed inside the conclave. By two-thirds vote, they elect Siri Pope. They never come outside to announce his election, so, still behind closed doors, and right after electing him by a two-thirds vote, they were "forced" by French cardinals and "world freemasonry" to change? If the French cardinals had that much influence, why didn't they prevent the vote in the first place? How did "freemasons" get inside the conclave anyway?
mindspring57 1 year ago
@mindspring57 I don't know. I guess they wanted a canonically elected Pope, and than shut him out. Just to be sure the replacement "Pope" (Roncalli) was not the real one (the one supported by the Holy Spirit). Joseph Siri has told Father Khoat (a vietnamese priest) in 1988; "i am the Pope". He was a prisoner for the rest of his Pontificate.

it is a big lie that the pope saves jewes children, theres no truth to that, he was being silent when millions of jews suffered and died in the concentration camp and much more in crematoriom and gas chamber, in fact it was the popes will to genocide the jews because these people are big threats to his political ambition. im very sorry to object the idea that the pope is holy and a man of God! he is the agent of the devil.
varistojamonbanua 1 year ago

@varistojamonbanua Only you and some furious Communists will say what you say. No credible historian will say that.

von papen says that the atrocities that hitler perpetrated during the second world war were the pronciples of the PAPACY!! can there be any doubt that the papacy is just as evil as was Hitler and his regime? Hitler himself admits he was helped by the methods of the jesuit counter -reformation to carry on his ideological war. we hav witness catholicism open support of every step taken by Nazi-Facism to impose authoritarian regimes upon all peoples.

d vatican helped Hitler to gain power and then helped him consolidare his grip on Germany. this was done in party by advising the catholic party of germany to vote for NAZI candidates. the catholic votes gave Hitler the majority he needed to legally form a govt. in 1933.further to this , the vatican ordered catholic member of the reichstag parliament to support legislation giving hitler the dictatorial power he needed to destroy the german communist.

Socksbike 1 year ago
@Socksbike You got your socks stuck in the wheels of the bike along with your brain! Concordats are usually held with problematic governments to gain a modus vivendi for Catholics under difficult circumstances. You say he said NOTHING? Lol! That is monumental ignorance! Sorry, but you're out of it. The Jews who criticize him simply say he could have done MORE, recognizing what he did. Wake up!

Papal Romes well-documented history of hating and brutally persecuting Jews, Protestants, and Orthodox Christians throughout the centuries, (e.g., the Vaticans religious genocide in the 1940s against Serb Orthodox Christians in Fascist Croatia, where from 600,000 to 1 million men, women, elderly, and children were tortured and murdered by Roman Catholic Ustashi military units that were frequently led by Roman Catholic priests, friars, and monks);

Jesus only promised that His Church would be here with His teachings intact(the deposit of faith) to guide the faithful till He comes again. He left no angels in charge--only man needing redemption!
ubuibme24 1 year ago
@hoffabrando You are quite wrong. In the Middle Ages, the Jews of Europe asked the popes to protect them. The genocide in Fascist Croatia was not the result of the Vatican (stop being stupid), but Fascist hatred for the many Serbs living amonst them in Slavonia and part of Dalmatia (Krajina). This was repaid in the 1990s by Milosevic and his murderous thugs in Croatia (the Slavonia part) and in Bosnia. Unfortunately, there was hatred among the slightly different ethnic groups.

@daltonagre Yes, it's the end of the christian faith. But you can't put all the blame on the Popes.

@dacatholicbandorgan not a sorrow for him but a sorrow for us and the world but Satan always lies and attacks truth- That should be some comfort for us...especially today with a basically Satan controlled media-- that means he TRULY was a holy Servant of God! After all, there is very little reported in media today whose intent is not deception or distortion!!!!
ubuibme24 1 year ago 2
@dacatholicbandorgan Amazingly truthseekers in other realms take these lies reported by media and run --- but Satanic control is becoming more and more obvious in the media---That, in and of itself, should begin to make people think . If the Catholic Church is continually attacked, many may begin to wonder and doubt the validity of these stories.
ubuibme24 1 year ago
@dacatholicbandorgan What about all the work he did working alongside fascist regimes. He offered no opposition to Hitler, in fact, the regime of Hitler would have been impossible without Piux XII. His loyal tool Franz von Papen was Hitlers Vice Chancellor even. You ever heard of the Reichskonkordat? The vatican was always an ally of the fascist regimes, many of those fascist nations were actually openly ruled by catholic priests.
WorshipInTruth 1 year ago

Rome loves him.
