Hi. Thanks for the video. ıt's awesome. But ı can't roll my fingers so fast. I mean, I don't have that reflex. Does it mean I won't be able to roll? Thanks.
I am in the process of ordering a Gawharet el fan Darbuka but as you know..they are very prone to chipping and cracking...What make would you recommend for gigs ?
Sound quality must not be compromised at all. I appreciate your help in advance.
no im not. Im not sure of any good players or teachers over there either....??? Have you checked out the fingers of fury website? There's over 100 videos on the site now + a fantastic ebook...check it out!)
@Lagtane1 Not sure if you're still looking as this post is quite old but I'll dish out the info I've got anyway! Good darbuka players in the UK that I know of are Guy Schalom and Numan Elyer... they are based in London - not sure if there's anyone in the Midlands. Eli Nott is also very good and does a lot of teaching (again London though). WOMAD (in Malmesbury - may be closer for you!) also has workshops run by Chas Whitaker... Hope some of that helps!
I just started playing doumbek and love it! I also love your tutorials and was wondering if your website is any better for studying and practice sessions. Thanks!
hey ComplexCarlo, Glad your playing heaps, thats great! The website is awesome for studying. Its got 70 movies covering nearly everything and a 140 page ebook with 280 soundfiles to guide you along. Its well worth subscribing. See you in there! Matt
Wow, you are really good. Good at it and good at teaching. My son is 5 and he is learning. I sit in the class with him. Of course he learns so much faster and better than me. Check him out if you search "Drummer boy Avi"
I originally played guitar and mandolin in a Turkish group and played a bit of darbuka on the side. I still played before that but i cant really remember why i started!? Past life! Take care
Wow..how is it possible to do that so fast!! lol how long have you practiced that and do you shake your whole body when you do it that fast or is it all just your wrist, upper/lower arm?
Thanks a lot for posting these vids, they're really helpful. Good to see where I was going wrong with the split finger technique, it makes much more sense now. Really helps to watch what you're doing and nice to see some stuff that I've never seen before. That light rizz is a killer!
Hi, i´m very happy with your videos! Here in Brazil, the doumbek teachers don´t pass this techniques for us, and you post everything in the network!!! Very good iniciative! Post a video teaching a techinique of the three fings in the left hand.
Hey. That's great, thanks! A darbuka has been on my list for a while now. Any recommendations on what type to get?? I play djembe & hang drum. Thanks again.
I like all of your 4 videos very much, thanks for sheraing and doing the demistification of the stuff that seem imposible couse almost an eye can't catch them :)Please post more and more! Big THANK YOU!!!
YEAH!! I am very HAPPY with ur postings.. Since I've seen them, I have been practicing and YESS I feel progress! Keep it up. A rythmic greeting from AMSTERDAM!!
Hey that's great! Super helpful. Nice friendly, laid back teaching style. How about a lesson for the jazz/rock drum set player who just picked up a hand drum and has no idea where to begin without a pair of sticks?
when i saw your 1st video i thought you're Arabic,,but you're better than Arabs them selves !!! ,, OMG i'm so ASTONISHED :O
