My whole family smokes except for my sister and I. Three of our cats died of old age, and one died because of a latent blood infection from a flea (it got triggered when we moved into a house with a dog - killed him one day later) My aunt's cat still hasn't died yet, and it's 13. I really doubt second-hand smoke affects cats that much (at least, not the breeds we had, there could be others with more sensitive lungs).
