  • yes!!!! i've been trying to figure out how to do this for ages!! THANK YOU.

  • ...so much for 'basic'

  • that so cool :)

  • Plugfather . com has some great FREE guitar lessons, online guitar tuner, chords and tutorial videos that show you how to play songs on guitar.

  • hahahhah at 2:30 it looked like your hands were gonna come out of the screen!

  • @GBear1025

yea same here it seems cool :D

  • That's some BADASS technique you've got there, man! Killer sound! Got anything else that's similarly thumpy & percussive, but different? Thanks for the lessons.

  • what was the song at 1:47 ? Fucky Carmadaya? I couldn't quite catch it, not that your accent is bad

  • @CircusEnvy23 It's a song by Tone Loc called 'Funky Cold Medina. YouTube it - awesome song!

  • I can't get the drum beat part.. Could you help me with the pattern? total noob here.Awesome video though..

  • @appu258 No worries, which part of the pattern in particular?

  • @flogbag at 1:00 minute mark. i can mute the strings but i cant carry the drum beat at all..thanks man

  • Hm, I don't think it's a basic strumming for beginner. :-?

    Anyway, it's awesome. ;)

I'm a beginner but I'll take this as one of my further lesson. :)

    Thank you.

  • @alexandrasavana Yeah, a few people have commented about that. Maybe I should have called it 'intermediate'?

  • @flogbag How many Up Down are there in the form of D D D U etc.

  • Awesome but not for beginner :D

  • Wow amazing, I only got a guitar recently and Im just trying to understand basics. Not idea this could be done.

  • do you call that "BASIC" ??????

    dude I'm just beginner here.....

  • @punkzbunny24 Sorry dude - maybe not all that basic :S

  • @flogbag hahaha, its cool, by the way , awesome cover. I learn pretty good. tnx :))

  • Only an idiot would dislike this vid.........Man you got the most important concept explain i.e about the drum beats from guitar....Great share.

  • Hey thats not basic

  • Thats not very basic man. Your a pro but. your awesome

  • you are really a star. really good guitar man!!!!

  • WOW um your really good and all but thats not very basic lol

  • woahh impressive! wish i could play like that

  • ive been looking for this kind of strumming for days omg what is the style of this kind of strumming im trying to learn this kind of strumming

  • I cant facking strum!!! i dont get it :(

  • AHHHHHH scary. I've only been playing for a couple day, hopefully, I'll learn how to strum. Thank you! ^-^

  • That's hurts!

  • AWSOME TRAINING

  • amaaaaaziiiing

  • from 1:00 to 1:40 is SO AWESOME...

  • I know this is a newbie question, but when i strum and i hit the string my finger's on, it doesn't make any sound, so when i try to play notes and chords and stuff, it's just quiet.

  • @syst3m08 press the string harder with your fret hand....also make sure that you are close to the fret (but not on it). The closer you are to the fret, the less pressure you need to make the note "ring out".

  • @Heartwing7 Thank you

  • ive been playing guitar for a month..but the problem is my strumming..is it normal?

  • You have really sexy hands, just fyi. ;)

  • @1purplecherries1 Why thank you ;)

  • come to ym channel rate then spread the word!!! then email me with any guitar questions and i'll answer them for you :)

  • What are the chords for 'Funky Cold Medina' by Tone Loc?

  • A, G, D, A

  • Thanks, I like it.

  • Great stuff! Thanks!

  • very cool

  • very cool thanx

  • aussie prideeeeeeeeeeee

  • Aussie aussie aussie, Oi Oi Oi!

  • @ariaana95 cock pride

  • wow. that was great :D

  • not bad pilgrim

  • This helped me tremendously. Just bought a guitar, it took me about 30 minutes for my thumb to go: "oooooooh I only work when I go up, ok GOT IT" End my right hand strums great. The left hand however has much much to learn :)

The tabs would be nice for the part around 1:30

That sounds really really nice. Not easy I imagine, but less hard if you would give the tabs :)

  • THAT IS SEXY

  • get drum sticks lol

  • Is there a tab for this song?

    LOL

  • What is that top wood?

  • been searching the net for strumming with fingers...thanks..

  • awesome man! thanks

  • AWESOME. THANKs......

  • Sweet. I'm gonna go try that right now

  • am sorry but this ain't basic. I enjoyed it though but this will be later in life

  • Ok strummer.. but a bad teacher if teaching is his goal with this video...

  • playing with hands is for me much much easier than using a pick.. its all about habits !

  • sweet, i was wondering how to do the downstrokes and upstrokes w/o a pick (probably all over the internet, but first i've seen of it). hurts like a bitch trying to strum up with the fingers over and over again

  • This is uber cool but I bet it's easier for those with huge hands. my hands are small :S

  • i have that same problem! I can't play every chord because of my small hands

  • i'm sure it is easier with big hands, but i have very small hands and you just have to get used to it. ppl with big hands have it easier but people with small hands can learn after a good bit of practice too (i'm not good or anything, but i can hit all the chords, even if it calls for barring with the first finger and having a couple more three frets down)

  • Fucking brilliant......try to stop swearing but thats great stuff

Post some more strumming stuff Mate.

    Love it dirty rock'n roll.

  • OMGQQQQ thats sooo coolll!!!!

  • that was fuckin sweet bro!!

  • i like that style. thank you for this video

  • Go Aussie!

  • Thanks for this video!!

What make of guitar are you playing?

  • It's a Maton, a very popular Australian brand. They really make nice acoustics. Tommy Emmanuel plays them.

  • Comment removed

  • lesson number 1..insure your right fingers first!!!

  • whats that song you play at 1:45? I cant really make out what you are saying.

  • I think the one you mean is 'Funky Cold Medina' by Tone Loc. I have to stop mumbling!

  • Ty ;) Great work though. Wasnt as hard as i expected. Learned it in a week or so :D ( just started guitar)

  • did you say basic?

    haha

    that's awsome though

  • this is fine, but what happens when you want to play an E or Am. I know you can always play the bar chords, but if you use a pick, Jack Johnson styles, you are not limited to certain chords.

  • songs? lol

you're good, man. i started learning 3 weeks ago and know some pretty simple chord progressions, going to get a better guitar in a few months.

  • your goooddd!!! i love it!!!

  • hey i subbed! can you make more videos??

  • Niiiice playing dude. You in Perth? I want some lessons.

  • Thanks. Unfortunately I'm in Melb - quite a commute!

  • omfg! amazing ... now umm how long will it take for someone first starting out lol

  • ahaa thxn xD

  • love this video

  • i love this!

  • I LOVE this method/sound.

I just recently started playing without my pick, so I am just using my fingers.

I play a steel string guitar.

My finger nails, on my index and middle fingers, are chewed away down the the quick from using the backs of my fingers to strum down.

Is your guitar a steel string in this video?

Are the fronts of your nails rubbing the strings as they move from the 5th string up to the High E?

  • Yes, absolutely.

  • So did you nails get chewed off by the strings when you first started?

Did they just get used to it and grow back eventually?

  • Simply Awesome..

  • cool how it sounds like guitar and drum! trum chukuk kuchuk trum

  • omg thats crazy,,

    ur awesome.

have you heard of bill tapia?

he could do the same thing except on a uke and he likes a 100 yrs old.

  • many thanks i like to play this way any suggestions on progressions i start ok then get lost

  • Thanx! can you please show the strumming in slow motion though. would help be a lot. thanx again

  • Wow that is pretty bad ass thanks for putting this video up

  • Thank You

  • Sounds like funk?

  • аhahah, not bad! I loved it :)

  • That is awesome! But doesn't hurt strumming like that?

  • No, not at all. Naturally, you can get over-enthusiastic with an audience and a few drinks and wake up with a shredded hand, but apart from that ;)....

  • it really doesn't, just as long as you know how to do it. just don't let the strings catch you behind the fingernails cause that really hurts.

  • man you are awesome.

  • Thanks a bunch bro, I've been trying to learn this. Tricky stuff to get the hang of lol.

  • god you make that looks so easy XP

  • I think he's using a d/d/u/u/d/u

  • Do you have any tablature to go with this? Or a strumming pattern? It Sounds Awesome!

  • Err, sorry. Nothing like that.

  • oh man this should be put in expert techniques nice job though

  • basic? o.o

  • lol yea..this shit is hard

  • I want to learn that!!! ... but i'm just a beginner :(

  • Nice vid man, haha I laughed when you broke out the Tone Loc!

  • haha! Thanks. I love Tone Loc. Very funny man. Playing his songs always gets the audience tapping away and smiling.

  • I would also appreciate if you could tell me your stum pattern :p I do it always like D U DD U D U DD U. How do you do yours?

  • I also play without a plectrum not as good as you though. Brilliant job thanks a lot

  • That's not quite basic.

  • yeah right, its great but difficult for a beginner. If you could move your hand slowly to shouw the pattern or if you can tell us something like d/d/d/u i.e two times down,i time up etc would help us to know the pattern. Just trying to figure out and learn. Thanks for the vid.

  • it looks too difficult for a beginner!!

  • that looks like it hurts your fingers

  • amazing!

  • I live in quebec....TABERNACKLE! YOU ARE INCREDIBLE....THX :)

  • thats so cool, i didnt really get it at the start..but like when u explained it..very good

  • i know that this is a really stupid question but I'm trying to teach me self to play and i was wonderinf if you strumm ALL the strings.

  • Yep, strum 'em all. Damp the ones you don't want to hear..

  • not to sound stupid. but what does that mean.

thanks so much. this will help alot. =)

  • Damping - with your left hand, just lightly touch the strings you don't want to hear with the tips of your fingers. Then those ones won't resonate when you strum. Just like playing a chord with some of your fingers not pressed down hard. Hope that's clearer?

  • thanks that makes so much more sense!!

  • So what's your point?

  • wow thats awesome i am a beginner and just learning i thoght it would be cool to play guitar and i love guitar so much i actually want to try and play it... didnt make much sense but please give me tips thankyou

  • thats fucking AWESOME u rock!

  • your fucking awesome.

  • You're my hero!! =)

  • that piece is verry skillfull

  • yay i dont know why it is hard for me this. But this guitar of mine is just 3 days now and i hope i can do what your doing. Your really good muaaahhh....

  • thank you, VERY helpful tip

  • strong vid... I'm a beginner and I want a back beat... this is nice to see. Glad I found it. ~S :D

  • man youre good!

  • noway men....only way to get full control on strumming is without pick...with your skilled fingers u have 5 pics or a combination of them...pick is good for basic strumming but if u want to reach an high level strumming on acoustic u must go fingering ihmo

  • Awesome dude!

  • slow hand motion plz

  • is that safe strumming without pick ?

  • Yes of course!

As for flogbag, great vids bud, keep up the fantastic work. I'm learning a fair whack! A bit of criticism though if you don't mind . . Slow down, speak more clearly and possibly get some close ups. Do that and you're a perfect 11/10!

  • Yep.

    I learned w/o a Pick.

And now I'm trying to learn with a pick.

    I find it easier w/o a pick.

  • yaa its easy without picks but sound is more bright with pick . any1 agrees ?

  • I agree. :P I strum only with pick..

  • I try to learn both, 'cause both have their own pros and cons to them. I'm even learning to alternate between with and w/o real fast, by sliding the pcik between my index and middel finger between strums and getting it out again real quick.

  • ur right pal

  • ur right pal

  • woha is that for real wow youre good im subscribing to you

  • Awesome....

I wanna play like you one day....

    Way to go rockstar...

  • are you in a band or something, because i love all your lessons and i would like to hear some of your music!

  • Glad you got something out of it. Not in a band at the moment, although I've been in many in the past, but you never know....!

  • Awesome! Thanks, and you rock!

  • hey mate great vid can u please tell me whats are the chords for funky cold medina, ta

  • mostly just A and D!

  • really nice :)

  • Thank you for this most excellent FREE guitar lesson!

  • Pretty cool! Thanks for this, and any others you might have. This is very good for beginners, you've put a lot of time into it, not just 1 2 3 and done. Thanks again.

    God bless

    Leon

  • Cheers ;)

  • This really helps for beginners like me. Nice one, thanks mate.

  • R u Aussie?

    U sound lyk u r lol

  • BASIC mY ASS :D cool video luv it

  • that's a pretty sweet technique...

  • wats the chords usedd?

  • A and D - that's pretty much it

  • Superb stuff, I do feel it was rushed however. I do think you could have done a better job if you had talked more about the chords and strum patterns. Take it as constructive criticism if you will :)

    Love it though, very original.

  • awesome advice mate!

  • Please do some more drum-beat stuff like this!

  • Hey can you make me a video teaching the first song u played beacuse I can't relly see you hands so I cant see the chords. Or maiby you can replys he songs and call out the chords that your playing. If you do thx alot man.
