@TomasMikaX Speaking for myself only...you are NOT someone who I seek for advice on happiness. From what I can tell you don't have the kind of results I want. May all the blessings of a "bullshit" philosophy be with you now and forever more.
"Our control on the outer world is limited, temporary and often illusory"... wow... it is the truth of human unsatisfactory conditions so beautifully expressed.

This man is very interesting. I think happiness is something you choose. We cause so much unhappiness because we dwell on the problems. Chances are we cant figure out what our worries are so to me it's best to give them to God. Let him worry. He made us so we ought to let him run us.
Not taking responsibility for our actions is probably the most irresponsible choice of all, so I suppose that you would be correct, in that happiness is something we choose.
Au contraire, it has everything to do with T.E.D. Happiness is the source of inspiration and the desired goal of all human enterprise. Responsible technological innovation helps to alleviate human suffering and needs. The goal of entertainment is to provide humans with an experience that relaxes them. Good design seeks to address problems faced by humans and improve the various dimensions of our existence. All of these fields collectively impact the environment and therefore, our HAPPINESS.
Human beings are creatures of habit, my friend. The pursuit of happiness requires effort and a willingness to embrace change to old conditioning/patterns of behavior embedded in our ego since birth.Letting go isn't a comfortable process although worthwhile and fulfilling to some of us.I'm happy to be the fourth person to comment on the video.
May we all be happy & feel compassion for those who continue to suffer!
how come there are no comments on this video. How come there are under 4,000 views of this video (as of the writting of this post). Nobody is interested in being happy? I thought that't the ultimate goal in life. I guess human nature like to suffer because it feels so good when it's gone (as Matthieu states as the beginning of the talk). That's sad but I am no one to judge others. I will then go selfish, stop my comment and read one of his books. "Happiness"
Totally agree... It seems that most people prefer watching some girls dancing and exposing thier bodies.. those kind of videos gets millions of views...

@sirpaisley Buddhism is based on supernatural claims.

@TomasMikaX That's completely untrue.

If we have our own paradise, we cannot be unhappy within, then it wouldn't be a paradise.

Is there a secular version of Buddhism? It would be nice to have some of the philosophy and none of the supernatural bullshit.

Brilliant, Mattieu you clarify both what happiness is not and what it is. Do you have a spare bunk in that 2x3 metre hermitage? Namaste, Asanti

happiness is that all the people on earth is free, well being and have something to eat and drink that for me would be happiness.
