My parents divorced last year. it was an on-going battle. They were on and off constantly. The divorce was final last september. They still fight all the time. its never ending. i pray to god every day that some how he makes everything better. i wish my parents had gone back to the moment of truth.

When the moment of truth is so far in the past, and a person has been miserable for so long and change is not in the near future, if ever. Does God want us to be married to someone who is not loving or pulling their weight? How long is too long to wait for change.

Good question. The bible does give certain grounds for divorce. But as far as someone not being "loving or pulling their weight"...I don't know....my vows were FOR BETTER OR WORSE.

Vows are one thing. What about the implication of ones behavior leading up to the vows. Does a vow stand alone in the face of negative change?

Maybe being in a sexless marriage and seeing God become less important, menopause, unforgiveness, anger etc..10 years of hell. lol

The song is nice. It is romantic and on the surface sounds good. however, if I go back to the moment of truth and I don't recognize anyone. Going back only affirms the depth of the problem and the distance from better times.

The first part of the song talks about marriage, the second about unhealthy habits , and the third verse about coming back to your FIRST love, GOD. Every story is unique and sometimes cookie cutter answers don't fit. But...I do have faith God can change any situation when we surrender to him completely. That can be really hard to do. I know I struggle every day.

A vow is a promise and does not change when the moods change. God loves us unconditional despite our flaws. Marriage is one of the ways we grow in this ourselves and understand how God feels. Theres are only 1 reason to divorce and thats adultery. God wants to reconcile your marriage and the family is under attack. The world will say divorce, God says, to trust Him, obey and He will work things for the good. The problem is us. We don't trust God long enough. Go get the " Fire Proof" journal.

I think you should pray for them, pray without ceasing...

God will answer, if he doesn't by his choice there is another solution. Look for it, be prepared to sacrifice instead of taking the easy way out...if your heart is in it to try. Tho i do believe there is a limit to what God expects us to endure, yet his hand is always there for us to reach out to..he will never leave you.

I don't know your exact situation, and I've never been married before. But if you haven't I highly suggest you watch the movie Fireproof. It's about a couple that has grown apart and the guy is trying to save his marriage. It sounds to me like it might be exactly what you are talking about.
