@ichibang15549 I didn't talk shit to YOU, I said my fucking god damn opinion and then you go ahead and call me an idiot because you get butt hurt over your little faggot friend Sudo, and you obviously don't understand the definition of the word "noob" either, or maybe your little tiny ass eyes can't fucking see anything? @R0ugeProductions Genki Sudo is the SMARTER and SMALLER fighter in this fight; he used his brain to bring Dekker to the ground and eventually win the match, Sudo was the winner, Sudo was the better fighter.
@Cheewiez well you gotta know that dekker came into this fight with zero training on ground, with some months grappling training he woulda have finish this dude
genki's a nice guy, he went for a achilles tendon hold but i think it turned into a strait ankle lock. after the two big punches he went for a heel hook wich is a lot more dangerouse submission.
i hope ramon dekker is ok. there both legends in combat sports
olha a diferença de idade tbm, vai tomá no cu! queria ver esse japones fdp lutar com o Ramon a 10 anos atras, ia tomá uma pesada na cara de cuspir sangue um mes
@EMT22637 In Muay Thai or Kickboxing? Certainly. In MMA? No. Without being proficient on the ground, it's very difficult for someone to win, especially against someone who isn't willing to stand and throw with you. Genki isn't stupid and he would take him down as he did here, prime or not, and Dekkers would've been underwater. I'm a fan of his, but he is a Muay Thai guy. MMA is different.
Big time Genki Sudo fan. Haven't seen this fight in a while and I wasn't too familiar with Dekker to begin with but you can see that Dekkers inexperience with the ropes is what cost him this match. At ringside they pulled the ropes away from him to keep him from grabbing and he sort of stood there aimlessly and Genki took the submission. Kinda dumb on his part to put himself in that sort of position (he does it earlier in the corner as well).
is it just me or do hate submission and grappling? i mean.. i dont know, i find k1 rules or muay thai much nicer to watch.. when it comes to taking a man down , pulling around legs, twisting feet, it just gets boring. i guess in a real life fight situation grappling, submission, wrestling will be more effective but still..
@fokojan I think that muay thai/standup in general may be more entertaining to the layman, but ground fighting, in my opinion, is SO much more complex and exciting to watch. It's like an entirely different world when the fight hits the ground, and it's almost like seeing into the fighter's mind when you see him work towards a specific position or submission. But both standup and grappling are exciting in their own different ways :)
wait what... how come genki sudo just won like that at 4:24? i dont see how ramon dekkers was KO or hurt or anything so why did he lose? i guess i really dont know much about mma so it would be great if anyone can explain to me how ramon lost like that
I love Ramon but this is an mma fight. A straight kickboxer going into an mma fight is like a straight runner going into a triathlon. If he can't swim and bike too he's going to lose!
@sheemsheem Honestly you can be the best kickboxer in the world, if you don't know how to defend a take-down it doesn't mean shit in mma. Genki knew what Ramon was good at, so he didn't even try to strike with him and just shot in for the take-down as soon as possible. A fight with both fighters in their prime would have looked exactly the same.
@kaguth Yup. I love watching Manhoef fight, but he definitely has that problem too. If he doesn't brutalize you standing and you take him down, he panics and he's done. He was doing good against Kennedy at first, stuffing the takedowns but it was done once it hit the mat.
@kaguth Well, that's akin to saying Muay Thai is not a complete martial art. A complete martial art should allow you to fight any opponent, no matter what his fighting techniques are.
@egarrulo In that sense Muay Thai is not a complete martial art. A Muay Thai Practitioner will very often lose to a skilled grappler with even rudimentary striking skills.
@kaguth Yeah, but still if you're ages ahead, and I mean light years, in your art you will still be a favorite. I mean look at Mike Tyson. Sure he hasn't grappled professionally but you have to consider a few things - first of all he has an extremely strong core. The core is the most important part for all fighting disciplines. Second of all he has grown up fighting without any rules so some people have certainly tried to tackle him to escape his onsaught. Last, hes a great athelete + 1 punch KO
@DestroyerAlexandros Are you saying Tyson would dominate in mma? First of all I'm assuming you're talking about Tyson in his prime, because he's not dominating anything now. This is hypothetical, but if he trained in Wrestling, Jujitsu and Muay Thai for years beforehand he probably would have done very well in mma. After all he was a natural athlete with a great competitive drive. But even in his prime, if he jumped straight into high level mma from boxing he would lose. See Toney vs Couture
@kaguth And see Sylvia vs Mercer. Are you suggesting Toney is in his prime? Toney was in his prime 20 years ago - youngest middleweight champ in history. And boxing middleweight is like MMA welterweight. Toney was hired by the UFC to make boxing look bad, and yes I'm saying that Mike would dominate in MMA based on athleticism alone. Fighting is instinctive and boxers are the most instinctive fighters, that's why they make so much money. MMA guys are mostly failed athletes in better paid sports.
@DestroyerAlexandros I said "high level mma", which everyone knows Sylvia isn't. Using Sylvia to represent mma is like using Butterbean to represent boxing. And no I never said Toney was in his prime, but then neither was Couture. In fact Toney is 5 years younger than Couture, so in the age department it should have been even. In fact, many mma fighters like couture are Olympic level wrestlers who went into MMA because Pro Wrestling is fiction. How are they failed athletes?
@DestroyerAlexandros Anyone who stays in the sinking ship of boxing will be a "failed athlete" in 10 years. If you think any boxer can get by in mma just based on "instict" you're clearly in denial. Defending take downs and using bjj to avoid getting smashed on the ground is not "instinct", it's a calculated art that takes longer to learn than boxing. A prime Tyson would get taken down in the first 30 seconds and choked out just like Toney. Open you're eyes to reality dude.
@kaguth HAHAHAHA dude! DUDE! DUDE! Mike Tyson spent almost 10 years of his life in prison. 10 years of fighting EVERY single effin day fighting murderers and hired assassins in the can. He used boxing to defend himself. B-Hop - same story. Almost all successful boxers grew up fighting no rules fights. Sure it's good to know some wrestling and subs, but boxing is the single best platform for fighting. Just look at its history - boxing was invented and systematized by the Spartans (continues)
@DestroyerAlexandros Try 3 years for rape and 1 for road rage, he had no fights inside and turned to religion. Boxing is a great sport but a very limited fighting style, a boxer needs to learn other aspects before entering MMA. Street fighting is totally different, I work the doors and see it all the time.
@YorkshireGripper Well don't know man. Where I live combat sambo, wrestling and boxing are the most wide spread combative sports. No jiu jitsu, muay thai and stuff here. The problem with wrestling is that it's more of a sport where you're trying to beat someone rather than hurt him. Combat sambo is basically like fighting without rules, it's two guys with helmets and MMA gloves going at it on a wrestling-style mat. But even the most prominent combat sambo guys rely their boxing in(continues)
@YorkshireGripper in real fights. The problem is that when you're not in a gym there is no comfy mat to break your fall so you are basically taking a chance by going for a throw or a takedown.
@DestroyerAlexandros Real fights happen so fast that they're too messy to think about takedowns, you're right in the fact that most guys will just punch, but the nuances of the sport matter little in self defense situations. And don't worry I'm not guna start banging on about all that pressure point and chi bullshit, just saying that on the doors or the street or whatever you want to call it, if a fight isn't over with a quick punch it always ends up on the ground.
@YorkshireGripper Nice discussion you have here guys, and that is true, you must know how to defend yourself in any situation, that is the goal of wu shu, I practice northen shaolin kung fu, one of the oldest martial arts in the world, and the system has everything, we also fight in the ground, and the techniques are the same that jiu jitsu has, but the general idea is not to go to the ground, because there you can't defend yourself against more than one oponent, keep practicing my friends!
@YorkshireGripper Yes look at army training - they go through basic Jiu Jitsu i the first part, then basic striking and takedowns in part 2. Sports and real fights are very different. The majority of things from MMA won't work in a real fight. For example a kimura - you leave yourself exposed for eye gouging and stuff, a double leg takedown - you leave yourself exposed for a strike to the back of the head, etc. What most people don't realize is that MMA is not "real fighting" as Joe Rogan says.
@YorkshireGripper I have been in many a street fight, and they are all different. Stand up, on the ground, weapons, multiple opponents, bricks, sticks, brass knuckles, belts, guns etc. The thing about the street is you never know what your going to get, and where and whence it is going to come from. In the street anything goes, including take downs. I take every street fight as life or death. I agree with Zulu, better not to go to the ground, but it definitely does happen.
@LifeInDreamState Yeah it does happen, and that's usually where someone gets their head kicked in. On the doors you've got to be ready to go from having your hands in your pockets. Unfortunately I had a fight at work last week, it kicked off so fast that I had no time to think. I used a standing head and arm choke in order to subdue the guy. Yet if I went looking for that choke the next time I fight you can be sure that I wouldn't get it, real fights are too unpredictable.
@YorkshireGripper I hope you still have your job! In a situation where I absolutely know no one else is going to jump in I would rather use a choke, or submission hold, then bash a guy with fists elbows knees etc. When you smash someones face up it tends to look real bad against you even if its purely self defense. Legally one faces a lot less trouble for a submission then a 50 stitch gash, or broken face bones etc put on an attacker...
@kaguth for fighting in their tight phalanx formations when you lost your weapons in combat. Having in mind that you are fighting multiple opponents who are armed, you would want to avoid grappling and you would want to avoid going to the ground, where you can get stabbed. BJJ, for example, is great but it requires setting up your finishing move. Sometimes even black belts need a few minutes to set up their submissions. Setups with the sweet science are much faster. So yeah, having (continues)
@kaguth that platform guys like Vitali and Mike would have been very successful in MMA most likely. And don't compare Toney to Tyson in any way. One disgraced himself by eating Burger King all day long, the other was one of the most disciplined and naturally gifted athletes ever. Mike was punching PRO BOXERS in the ARMS and they were going down. Imagine Tyson with 4 oz gloves now... scary.
@DestroyerAlexandros First of all the Spartans were taught Pankration dum dum. It was a combination of boxing, wrestling and submissions, in other words the first form of MMA! Your point that prison is a great training ground for MMA is ridiculous. Fighting on the street or in prison is totally different than fighting in MMA, but that's a whole different conversation. The bottom line with any of these boxers is they have to learn wrestling and submissions or they get tooled. End of story.
@kaguth Yeah you're right, MMA is totally different from street fighting. Which is why I hate it when the UFC says they are "real fighting". It's ridiculous. But yeah they do have to know at least BJJ because it's the hardest to predict. All the subs are ridiculously creative and the first thing most people do when they get into MMA is to pick up submission defense.
it would have been stupid or at least adventurer to him to strike with Dekkers. That was the possible way of winning. Was the part which Ramon had no preparation for.
You guys are piece of shit Dekkers the best u can tell this guy never did grappling doesnt even know the rules not to grab onto the ropes , he came in here did his thing fought his style and , yes true he lost but he showed what he had to offer man , stand up that guy woulda been killd have you guys seen this guys fights???? if u havent please stfu stick to ur judo and submission bullshits, muay thai is the way to go man
Let's get something straight, LMW87MMA. You continue to claim Dekker never won Fighter of the Year and all online sources are in error. I asked for some documentation but only got your rant. Show me another source other than you, and I'm open to listening. Unfortunately for you, every shred of info I find online refutes you. So put up some proof or go away. Frankly, I'm guessing everyone here trusts Wikipedia over your rants...
@StanOfSac If you enter this in google... site:sherdog.net "Jaroensap Kiatbanchong" ... you can see it discussed multiple times by people (not me, my Sherdog account is LMW87) who are experts on the subject. While Sherdog's MMA forums are shitty, the Kickboxing forum is excellent, John Wayne Parr even posts there. They have no reason to make that list up. And finally... ANSWER THIS QUESTION: How the fuck would Dekkers have won the award without winning a title at Lumpinee or Ratchadamneon?
@StanOfSac (continued from below)... When has a fighter EVER won Sports Writer's award without winning a stadium title? Only four farang have ever won stadium titles, and Dekkers was not one of them!
yes, it is correct, he won the title farang figher or the year, not fighter of the year. However he defeated Thai champs but that was either in Amsterdam, either when the fights were in Thailand were not supposed to be for the title, or they were former Lumpini champs (Coban case). He was a great fighter no doubt and his technique and courage I particularly like, but as in many case some myth are added, to add more spice to the legend.
Ramon Dekker is one of the best fighters to admire. I used to fight semi pro Karate/Kick-boxing and where he took his training me at 38 will never know. There is a threshold that some champions go through that puts them in a very special place. Never-mind if he lost this fight, the point is that he is there where I only dream i could be. Fighting was my calling not being an IT guy... cheers!
jap pussy didnt have what it took to stand with the diamond... had to heel hook a man who devoted his life to pro muay thai.. a fucking disgrace.. all the bullshit about the japanese "warrior spirit" - *slimy jap took the road of least resisance* .. SHAME ON YOU JAPAN... go kamakazi yourself off a cliff or somethig............... Dekker is the greatest!!!!!!
@etherform66 nahhhhh, you are all sorts of wrong. lol. you mad bro? just because the dude is a pro muay thai fighter doesn't mean his opponent has to defeat him using muay thai. you shouldn't watch UFC, man...you'll just get your panties all up in a bunch like you did right now--cuz they use all sorts of fighting techniques, sorry to tell you.
accept the true...Degger or malaipet they are the besy on stand fighting but on the ground and grap need to learn more...doen't mean bad just need to learn more
@KTB96744FFLDAS The Spartans grappled when they didn't have weapons , and i don't think anyone would call them pussies. people may question their sexuality but definitely not their worth in combat
@KTB96744FFLDAS in a real fight, without a ref and an agrement to stop when Dekker tapped, Sudo would have broken his ankle with that hold. "pussy"? ... Learn about grappling before you talk shit
@LMW87MMA Yes, and when Sudo grabbed him, he'd be punched in the back of the head, and it would be lights out long before he could throw any fancy bjj move at all.
What is it with groundfighting fanboys and their obsession with claiming their favourite sport is something you can use if you're attacked?
For a start, the most effective move in a streetfight, with a 100% win guarantee, is to run away and not get hurt at all. Not much macho in it for the neanderthals among us, but quite effective.
@Blahb27 uh, so you think that a punch to the back of the head is a guaranteed defense to a grappler? If that was true, every grappler would have failed in pre-2009 Shooto before they changed their rules. But it's not true, because you don't know what you're talking about and you are talking out your ass
Some of you girls need to shut up with the whole, "Oh, if this were Muay Thai or Kickboxing", "Dekker got robbed," and so on. Listen, Dekker knew EXACTLY what he was getting himself into. He trained to prepare for this fight. Yes, his striking is outstanding, but Sudo obviously had a more experienced ground game and all around arsenal. So suck it up.
@albmyslim yeah that's true...MMA looks gay but don't forget that it is the most powerful fighting system on earth right now, therefore you'd rather look gay than get fucked up.

DestroyerAlexandros 4 months ago
@DestroyerAlexandros I said "high level mma", which everyone knows Sylvia isn't. Using Sylvia to represent mma is like using Butterbean to represent boxing. And no I never said Toney was in his prime, but then neither was Couture. In fact Toney is 5 years younger than Couture, so in the age department it should have been even. In fact, many mma fighters like couture are Olympic level wrestlers who went into MMA because Pro Wrestling is fiction. How are they failed athletes?
kaguth 4 months ago
@DestroyerAlexandros Anyone who stays in the sinking ship of boxing will be a "failed athlete" in 10 years. If you think any boxer can get by in mma just based on "instict" you're clearly in denial. Defending take downs and using bjj to avoid getting smashed on the ground is not "instinct", it's a calculated art that takes longer to learn than boxing. A prime Tyson would get taken down in the first 30 seconds and choked out just like Toney. Open you're eyes to reality dude.
kaguth 4 months ago

YorkshireGripper 4 months ago
@YorkshireGripper Well don't know man. Where I live combat sambo, wrestling and boxing are the most wide spread combative sports. No jiu jitsu, muay thai and stuff here. The problem with wrestling is that it's more of a sport where you're trying to beat someone rather than hurt him. Combat sambo is basically like fighting without rules, it's two guys with helmets and MMA gloves going at it on a wrestling-style mat. But even the most prominent combat sambo guys rely their boxing in(continues)
DestroyerAlexandros 4 months ago
@YorkshireGripper in real fights. The problem is that when you're not in a gym there is no comfy mat to break your fall so you are basically taking a chance by going for a throw or a takedown.
DestroyerAlexandros 4 months ago

DestroyerAlexandros 3 months ago
@DestroyerAlexandros Couldn't agree more my friend, MMA is a sport with many many rules, despite what some uneducated people think.
YorkshireGripper 3 months ago
@YorkshireGripper I have been in many a street fight, and they are all different. Stand up, on the ground, weapons, multiple opponents, bricks, sticks, brass knuckles, belts, guns etc. The thing about the street is you never know what your going to get, and where and whence it is going to come from. In the street anything goes, including take downs. I take every street fight as life or death. I agree with Zulu, better not to go to the ground, but it definitely does happen.
LifeInDreamState 3 months ago
@LifeInDreamState Yeah it does happen, and that's usually where someone gets their head kicked in. On the doors you've got to be ready to go from having your hands in your pockets. Unfortunately I had a fight at work last week, it kicked off so fast that I had no time to think. I used a standing head and arm choke in order to subdue the guy. Yet if I went looking for that choke the next time I fight you can be sure that I wouldn't get it, real fights are too unpredictable.
YorkshireGripper 3 months ago
@YorkshireGripper I hope you still have your job! In a situation where I absolutely know no one else is going to jump in I would rather use a choke, or submission hold, then bash a guy with fists elbows knees etc. When you smash someones face up it tends to look real bad against you even if its purely self defense. Legally one faces a lot less trouble for a submission then a 50 stitch gash, or broken face bones etc put on an attacker...

DestroyerAlexandros 4 months ago
@kaguth that platform guys like Vitali and Mike would have been very successful in MMA most likely. And don't compare Toney to Tyson in any way. One disgraced himself by eating Burger King all day long, the other was one of the most disciplined and naturally gifted athletes ever. Mike was punching PRO BOXERS in the ARMS and they were going down. Imagine Tyson with 4 oz gloves now... scary.
DestroyerAlexandros 4 months ago
@DestroyerAlexandros First of all the Spartans were taught Pankration dum dum. It was a combination of boxing, wrestling and submissions, in other words the first form of MMA! Your point that prison is a great training ground for MMA is ridiculous. Fighting on the street or in prison is totally different than fighting in MMA, but that's a whole different conversation. The bottom line with any of these boxers is they have to learn wrestling and submissions or they get tooled. End of story.
kaguth 4 months ago
@kaguth Yeah you're right, MMA is totally different from street fighting. Which is why I hate it when the UFC says they are "real fighting". It's ridiculous. But yeah they do have to know at least BJJ because it's the hardest to predict. All the subs are ridiculously creative and the first thing most people do when they get into MMA is to pick up submission defense.

LMW87MMA 1 year ago
@StanOfSac (continued from below)... When has a fighter EVER won Sports Writer's award without winning a stadium title? Only four farang have ever won stadium titles, and Dekkers was not one of them!
LMW87MMA 1 year ago
@LMW87MMA
yes, it is correct, he won the title farang figher or the year, not fighter of the year.

Fighting was my calling not being an IT guy... cheers!

@KTB96744FFLDAS in a real fight, without a ref and an agrement to stop when Dekker tapped, Sudo would have broken his ankle with that hold. "pussy"? ... Learn about grappling before you talk shit
LMW87MMA 1 year ago
@LMW87MMA Yes, and when Sudo grabbed him, he'd be punched in the back of the head, and it would be lights out long before he could throw any fancy bjj move at all.
What is it with groundfighting fanboys and their obsession with claiming their favourite sport is something you can use if you're attacked?
For a start, the most effective move in a streetfight, with a 100% win guarantee, is to run away and not get hurt at all. Not much macho in it for the neanderthals among us, but quite effective.
Blahb27 1 year ago
@Blahb27 uh, so you think that a punch to the back of the head is a guaranteed defense to a grappler? If that was true, every grappler would have failed in pre-2009 Shooto before they changed their rules. But it's not true, because you don't know what you're talking about and you are talking out your ass

He trained to prepare for this fight. Yes, his striking is outstanding, but Sudo obviously had a more experienced ground game and all around arsenal. So suck it up.
