One word sums up this show... AMBITION! This is why I swear by the stuff I watched when I was a kid. Sure, it doesn't always add up, but this show was awesome! Cool character designs, an attempt at continuity, and all the best voice actors of its day. I completely forgot about their weird incantations. Your video is win. Thanks for the memories!
Dude, that was so funny. You really took me back to my childhood there. Another thing that seems strange about this show is that the language used seems a little too advanced for the average 10 year old. Maybe its just me on that one.
I wonder if you remember a show called Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. I be interested to see what you make of that.
@redwesteastnorth I remember it, and its on the list, but its a bit of the ways down so it may be another few months before I get to it. The latest episode (Toxic Crusaders) just went up today. Next week will be Bravestarr, and the week after that, M.A.S.K. After that...I have some DVDs on the way, so chances are either Defenders off the Earth, King Arthur and the Knights of Justice, Bots Master, or possibly a series of shorter episodes showcasing some weird Ghostbusters or GI Joe.
@fatfoxclown If you want to see something even screwier that Sunbow/Hasbro produced back in the same year, check out my review of Inhumanoids. It has possibly one of the most bizarre moments in 1980s television. Even more so than Dawn of the Sun Imps.
If I remember right, several years went by after the alignment of the suns and all the technology ceased functioning. That would explain how the civilizations of Prysmos regressed into a sort of Medieval-like world.
To anyone reading this; don't be so quick to laugh at the concept. I learned that if technology somehow did stop functioning, human kind actually would regress backwards.
Thankfully my family and I are all farmers and it wouldn't effect us that drastically
You forgot to mention the incantation for Arzon's staff: "A whim, a thought and more is sought. Awake my mind, thy will be wrought." But you're right, all of the knights magic words sound awesome.
If Galadria received a power staff, I think her power could've been healing. I think the best spell for that would be "Be it arrow tip or steel blade, let this noble warrior's wounds all fade"
One thing I forgot to mention when I last commented. I know the concept of an advance civilization regressing into a sort of medieval feudalistic society seems strange.
But in my opinion, what else can the people do for themselves when all forms of technology and "modern convenience" has been completely shut down? Sure technology gave us television, internet and motor cars but the problem is, it completely takes over.
I would prefer to live in New Valerik over the modern mess Earth's become
This show premiered two years after I was born but I was lucky enough to watch it here on Youtube. It is (in my opinion) one of the best old school shows ever made.
I love the characters, I love the sort of medieval world Prysmos has and I just plain like any show or movie that has knights to begin with. I do however agree that Leoric's power is pretty lame.
Merklyn should've given Leoric the power of Telepathy instead of wisdom. It makes sense since Arzon already has knowledge
@sadlobster1 Even the other characters in the SHOW admit that Leoric's power staff sucks. Heck, LEORIC admits that his power staff sucks. I can't believe I missed it, but I should have included the various clips of people bitching about how USELESS the Power of Wisdom is.
Glad you liked the show! Next episode is Conan: The Adventurer, so watch this space!
@DerektheBard I think the part where all the technology shuts down due to the realigning of Prysmos' suns is sort of a metaphor for what happens when one lets something take complete control of one's life.
I think that sort of thing happened in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Only difference is that instead of shutting down on the humans, it nearly murder them once it took over
@DerektheBard i disagreed with the Leoric's power staff suck, i think its the writer trying to show us sometime you don't really require brute force to over come the problem, but simply use your head. writer trying to show Leoric not only brave, strong, but also smart. a quality of a leader.
my brother(when he were young) also suggest that use Arzon's power of knowledge to solve the wisdom's riddle and be done with it(although i admit its a bit waste.)
Saw this series also... as a kid. Taught me that there as some obstacles that I need to cross, before I could grab power. Nice to see this on youtube. Thanx!
