@archdevillucifer I think it was more like he just ended up with her by default. Kaworu was tabris and Rei was the final angel. And Misato-san got blown up. So he just ended up picking her so that he wasn't incharge of the new world. XD

Did you not read what I said? The manga is not cannon. It was a promotional thing to amp up anticipation for the anime. So you can ignore 12 years of manga, because it has no reall relevance to the eva series except that it is an alternate telling. Otherwise, it's bullox.

@celiakairi Actually they're revamping the series in a 4 part movie series. The creator has repeatedly stated that he is not satisfied with the endings so far. The manga itself is still not over so there isn't even a canon ending.
