Isaiahs cool but good thing we didn't vote him as our director because then we would've been screwed. I'm soooo proud of you Akea!!!! :) Let's all just enjoy the song that AKEA chose.
This was amazing... this class has really got song contest down and I wouldn't be surprised if you folks swept next year! Congratulations to all of you, your director and that one tenor whose amazing voice seems to permeate the class!!
@TalentSaint and getnutz8o8 and omygs17, akea was voted over isaiah and akea chose the song. isaiah didnt get kicked out til jan. or feb. of this year.
@kalabash2020 really idk why he did and he is cool. but our class chose akea at the end of sophomore year for him to be our director and akea chose the sound (this is for everyone else too)
Oh and btw, your class's intonation is really something to behold...it makes me proud to know that our class ('07) has passed down our color to a class just as talented as ours :P. Keep up the great work and next year, you guys could sweep as well!
I also think that this class deserved to win the Co-ed competition. Grats to the seniors for a beautiful performance, but I think that musically, etc. the c/o 2011 was spot on. Such was also the sentiment echoed by many others present at the arena. I've heard this arrangement performed many times, but the rendition presented in this year's Song Contest was the best I've heard live. Sometimes the judges want diff. things..Either way, congratulations juniors, go get 'em next year. GO GREEN!!!
honestly, they do sound good. but they didnt make the song sound as one song. it sounded like a bunch of different songs. if you listen to the class of 1985 sing this song (who swept junior and senior year) they made it sound like one song.
D'aaw... is that a bad thing? I thought of it as distinctly separated in emotion within each movement-- and our director interpreted it the same way! It might be one song, but the tune varies quite a bit. If you mean we should've allowed each part to transition into each other more fluently-- I understand what you mean, though. There IS a slight bit of a start-stop mentality.
They should have won for 1st Place Combined. Congrats to the Seniors but in my opinion, the Junior Class was ripped off. I think they did way better and sounded better than the Senior Class.
@FBtDFearItSelf: Wrong, we voted Akea director. Even if he wasn't kicked out, it wouldn't have mattered because Akea won.
