hoping to see these brilliant musicians on st. patty's day in connecticut. also hoping to let the band know that they have the wrong "muireann" singing with them. they were supposed to get me. she's actually done a fine job in my place so, i'll make sure to let her down easily when we (meaning the boys and me) tell her she's been replaced. ha!!! ;-)
Music makes me want to run and raise an army to sack a country or go out to sea and sink some ships or something. Sometimes, I'm happy enough with just dancing...*sigh* I think I'm a little twisted. lol
I love these small little gestures Irish musicians do on stage to let their fellow players know they're going to speed things up or change to another tune :)
@felipebonniwell Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh has been Danu's lead singer since about 2003. She is the best female singer I've ever heard. she plays flute (and whistle) as well as she sings.
Splendid performance!!! Many thanks Donegal for uploading and my Irish friend for sharing this video! It's always interesting to know something new ♫♫♫♫♫
I think you guys are just amazing! I know we wont get a chance to see you live again unless we are in Ireland........ but if your ever in New Zealand! You are all welcome.
Sono tutti bravi, ma mi fa impazzire la Muireann che secondo me ha la più bella voce celtica di tutti i tempi (più bella anche della Dolores Keane dei bei tempi).
Awesome, Tom played Happy Birthday for my son at his forth birhtday, our sons are good friends. We all love Danu and listen to them all the time. We miss you in CB!!!!
Wow! That's so beautiful, that flute sounds so full and the players great. I saw these guys playing in a house party on the seafront in Aberystwyth after a show; they were completely pissed but it was amazing, where my love for the accordian began : )
I Live close to benny the accordion player and played in a cheli band with him years ago. They often play in a pub in our town on a saturday nite, it does b mental craic. They are playing a show in dublin in july, check their website for dates
At the exception of the Chieftains, i've never heard any band that has a crisp irish flute sound like this...and I mean wtf...how can he still be standing after expending so much air?? This song is plain awesome. I love these guys.
I had the privilege of hearing this band up at University of Wisconsin La Crosse in 2001 and they remain my most cherished live concert. I'm a professional musician/professor and was just giddy after their show. The flute player above was there and was phenomenal. I recommend them to ANY one who loves this genre.
I personnaly ain't much more then an amateur player...I just try a lot of instruments...i'm no virtuoso on any of em but playing is what I enjoy and these guys just give reason more to keep n playing.
I saw them in Finland may years ago and loved them to bits. If I ever have a chance to meet and hear them again I would be so happy! This song and the flute is just so wonderful it weakens your knees. <3

No5, they're not actually playing all the fast. The frist tune is playted at fairly slow tempo; when they speed up they don't lose any subtltly or expression and still manage to throw in all sots of complex ornamentation and vaiations, not to metnion great rhythmic pulse. They can play a lot quicker and still be at ease with the music. You obviously have the musical ear of a mould-encrusted toadstool.
