  • 8 dislikes? nice try bieber fans....

  • This song touched my heart...

  • hoping to see these brilliant musicians on st. patty's day in connecticut. also hoping to let the band know that they have the wrong "muireann" singing with them. they were supposed to get me. she's actually done a fine job in my place so, i'll make sure to let her down easily when we (meaning the boys and me) tell her she's been replaced. ha!!! ;-)

  • 8 people should consider buying a new set of ears

  • All I can say is....where's the pub and the dance floor. These lads got it!

  • It's like a how-to of Irish flute grace notes. It's just breaktaking.

  • going to cambridge folk festival tomorrow and these lads are playing - they could blow the roof off the place going by this video

  • Go hiontach.

  • Maneiro demais. o/

  • fantastic tune. really brilliant.

  • amazing:))) im proudly related to 2 of the ppl in this band:))

  • 7 people aren't anywhere near ready yet.

  • wait, Iam not yet ready to dance. I was prepared to hear Irish enchanting music. Very nice song

  • Music makes me want to run and raise an army to sack a country or go out to sea and sink some ships or something. Sometimes, I'm happy enough with just dancing...*sigh* I think I'm a little twisted. lol

  • wtf? who is the guy whos just randomly up there at 3:00 ?

  • @myboystoys They actually tell you exactly who he is if you watch to the end of the song. :)

  • Voici Danù un groupe celte Irlandais

  • oh my god...this fluteplay is fucking amazing!! I mean they all are great...but that flute...just haunting

  • after listening to this for a while, i realized i was stomping through the flooring and had to chain my feet down...

  • Perfect!! Love it

  • I love these small little gestures Irish musicians do on stage to let their fellow players know they're going to speed things up or change to another tune :)

  • Amazing!

  • Donnacha, the an Rinn Man is class, As Usual

  • is that a wooden flute?

  • I think I fell in love with the girl on the Pennywhistle. Goddamn!

  • @felipebonniwell Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh has been Danu's lead singer since about 2003. She is the best female singer I've ever heard. she plays flute (and whistle) as well as she sings.

  • makes me wish I were Irish

  • The 3 people who dislikes this are deaf.

  • @bajuszmaster They accidently misclicked...,I hope.

Because else, I would worry about their mental health.

  • @bajuszmaster make that 7...

  • @bajuszmaster or foreign

  • @DEKIID2K10 haha well I'm foreign and I really enjoyed that :)

  • I saw Danu at Sidmouth a few years ago and it still fills me with such joy. They are an incredible band

  • It just takes you back to medieval times, doesn't it?

  • If this music doesn't move you in some way, you lack a pulse.

  • Gracias! Es un set espectacular, suena increible :)

  • Sono tutti bravi, ma mi fa impazzire la Muireann che secondo me ha la più bella voce celtica di tutti i tempi (più bella anche della Dolores Keane dei bei tempi).

  • Wow! That's so beautiful, that flute sounds so full and the players great. I saw these guys playing in a house party on the seafront in Aberystwyth after a show; they were completely pissed but it was amazing, where my love for the accordian began : )

  • i love danu <3333333333

    best singer :P

  • I Live close to benny the accordion player and played in a cheli band with him years ago. They often play in a pub in our town on a saturday nite, it does b mental craic. They are playing a show in dublin in july, check their website for dates

  • aw wow my dad knows this band well there amazing like=]=]=]

  • At the exception of the Chieftains, i've never heard any band that has a crisp irish flute sound like this...and I mean wtf...how can he still be standing after expending so much air?? This song is plain awesome. I love these guys.

  • I had the privilege of hearing this band up at University of Wisconsin La Crosse in 2001 and they remain my most cherished live concert. I'm a professional musician/professor and was just giddy after their show. The flute player above was there and was phenomenal. I recommend them to ANY one who loves this genre.

  • I personnaly ain't much more then an amateur player...I just try a lot of instruments...i'm no virtuoso on any of em but playing is what I enjoy and these guys just give reason more to keep n playing.

  • One of my all-time favourite Danu tunes. Thanks for posting.

  • I saw them in Finland may years ago and loved them to bits. If I ever have a chance to meet and hear them again I would be so happy! This song and the flute is just so wonderful it weakens your knees. <3

  • I saw these guys about ten years ago in a bar called The Quays in Galway. They were unbelievable. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for all the comments, from Tom D. Danu.

  • i would like to see you do better.

    notice the 5 star rating...

  • i agree with you joe...

  • ok so post a video of you playing something and lets see if it gets 5 stars like that one...

  • No5, they're not actually playing all the fast. The frist tune is playted at fairly slow tempo; when they speed up they don't lose any subtltly or expression and still manage to throw in all sots of complex ornamentation and vaiations, not to metnion great rhythmic pulse. They can play a lot quicker and still be at ease with the music. You obviously have the musical ear of a mould-encrusted toadstool.

  • the musical ear of a mould-encrusted toadstool.

Brilliant quote brian pissin myself laughing

  • would anyone have the danu version of easy and free

  • semplicemente fantastici

  • Danú! I've been looking for them on here for awhile! thanks for posting this mate! peace.

  • Up Danú! Up Waterford! Whoo Hoo!!

  • thank you for posting. Been looking for danu here for a while.

  • Exciting playing! Slightly different from the album version. I enjoyed this a lot.

  • Smokin!

  • Magnific tune

  • Love this tune! Awesome to see it live.

  • Thanks for this post. Err... Is it a baroque flute?

  • No, it's not a baroque flute. Baroque flutes had only an Eb key, and Tom's flute has a least a long after key and a few others (hard to see). As the flute does not appear to have a C foot, and does not appear to be fully keyed (again, hard to see), which would make it chromatic, I would peg this flute as one of the contemporary descendents of the 19th century flutes which are sometimes called "Irish flutes".

  • That should read "long F key," not "long after key."

  • Thanks for the info.

  • craig's right... tom used to play a seery, and as far as i know he plays an olwell. i dont know what it is in the video, but as far as i know, tom doorley plays modern, irish flutes, which are based on the classical (more specifically the romantic era) based flutes.

  • Thank you !!!
