  • This is a total rip off of Sheena Easton's "Strut"

  • this fucking stinks!

  • Kate Meets Annie Lennox... Amazing Song!

  • ohh yeah, listern to her doing Rocket man

  • Kate Bush is a synonym of creativity

  • great song, terrible drums mixing

  • A cheesy and commercial song of Kate. When i heard it for the first time in 1993, i was shocked. How was it possible that she released a crap like that ? It was the beginning of the end in my opinion ( comfirmed by the very weak " Aerial " album and the catastrophique " Director's cut " ).

" Babooshka " ( on the fantastic " Never for Ever " album) was also a "commercial" song but much more classy and better in the composition.

  • @99Matthias99 Is this is Kate being cheesy and commercial, I'll still take it, time and again, over the crap in the charts today! You are entitled to your opinion of course but I feel this and the Albums "Aerial" and "Director's Cut" still give a powerful flavour of Kate's lyrical genius and quirky, unsurpassed artistry!

  • As much as I dislike this song due to my own personal taste. I can't deny the beauty of the first couple of lines. Hoooooly shit they're great.

  • Dude, get off her back! :-)

  • Kate Bush,Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks are all my favourite female artists.I love them all.Cheers

  • 3.14-3.37 'You're like my yo yo that glowed in the dark'

3.37-4.35- The Dreaming - if you like.

  • After intensive 'The Dreaming" listening I bumped into this song and I just couldn't believe that Kate recorded something which sounds like this. What I cannot believe even more is that I actually just love it ;D

  • @marczella4 feel like THe Red Shoes is a lot like The Dreaming. you've got the pounding drums and Kate Bush goes quite crazy in songs like Lily and this one.

  • fantastic song she is espectacular

  • Kate Bush DVD of all her singles, I mean all nothing left out even the obscure ones like suspended in gaffa, december will be magic etc. Long over due.

  • I'd like to see this done on Dancing with the Stars

  • got me thinking of the crap dance comps on tv at the moment. Kate could wipe the floor with all of them

  • Comment removed

  • 21 people are cunts

  • @kimmois1

    lol

  • @WillShakespear - I couldn't agree more - if the whole album is anything like the remake of Rubberband Girl then I ain't listening!

  • Listen to the new version - WTF was she thinking?

  • you gotta love that voice

  • Did the director think "hmm what does this video need?. Ah I know, a straight jacket and an out of control fan!"

  • THE ONE AND ONLY KATE !

  • we're always praising her musically can we just take a second and swoon over how pretty she is

  • While I was at school doing work placement at the Office of National Statistics in 1993 this is the song I remember being on the radio, along with Boom Shake the room by jazzy jeff and the fresh prince.

    Ahh memories

  • @justiceleague3000 Umh. Excuse me, are you professional dancer oro something like that? (just curiosity)

  • ahhhh hwhg

    HHGQefjkl ;GJTLNBVYGHQRKLR# i hate thiss

  • I friggin' love Kate Bush!!!!

  • I love this song and I love the video! Wish it got to No.1.

  • Wow,wow, wow, wow,WOW! Unbelievable, amazing and incredible !:DI luv it . Fun.

  • Kate's songs are beautiful, quirky and timeless.

I love the choreography in this video....and that straight jacket! : D

  • @goldenhorn1967 The lyrics imply that she is really hurting and being a Rubberband Girl would make her stronger, she had broken up a long-term relationship and her mother had died too. It is clever and works well with the raw lyrics of And So Is Love .

  • Now, I do love Tori. I love her a lot actually. But Kate is my queen. She is the be-all and end-all!

  • Im only 16 but thanks to my mum i was introduced to Kate Bush who is a musical genius only she could write such weird and wonderful music not to mention her quirky videos .Keep it up Kate pleasssseee write another album :D

  • @amosT94 You got your wish: 50 Words For Snow coming out November 2011 :)

  • @deina2in1 woooo !! Im so looking forward to it :D

  • What talent...she should tour America at least once!!

  • I've been listening and watching my musical (and dance) hero, Kate, on YouTube for a while now - she is an inspirational original artist, so why is everyone so suprised that Tori Amos or Lady Gaga might have been driven in their careers by her work? Kate Bush is brilliant - celebrate that, and that there may yet be some other genius waiting in the wings she inspires enough to take her on mantle - not begrudge other artists success.

  • Kate Bush. Awesome.

  • kate bush is awesome and will live forever

  • I love the wheezing bit after "Here I Go..."

  • 17 are going to hell`!!!!

  • To be honest, I thought she would be able to afford a belt...

  • To quote my friend...

"I thought this was going to be a fairly normal video, but then of course its Kate Bush".

  • Magical Sense of Simple Dance Act.....Addressing to the subconscious self...Don't you think so? :-)

  • I have been a fan of Kate's since 1980 (Babooshka) and a fan of Tori's since about 1995 (Boys for Pele).

You can easily be a fan of both; a symbiotic relationship.

  • Rather pointless geek comment: @ 3:30 the lead guitarist missed his cue to do that high-pitched fancy-finger-work thing... the short, blonde guy back there.

  • @tobynsaunders lol that short, blonde guy back there is Danny Mackintosh, otherwise known as Kate's husband.

  • @KateFan I can't be bothered to look that up... it's pathetic enough that I've commented at all... I'm selfishly addicted to this entertainment... not so good...

  • Perhaps we the viewers should take a moment to understand that Bush had/has millionaire parents who probably helped her here & there... you know, just a bit, to get started... hooking her up with David Gilmour & the like... a bit of the "it's not what you know, it's who you know" (that applies to lots of people) principle: just a bit!

  • @tobynsaunders . do some research you muppet. her parents do/did not have (millions) or set her up with gilmour. like i said do some work before posting your uneducated comments.

  • @robbnhood riiight... her doctor father & dancer mother had nothing to do with her meeting Gilmour... right. 'Milions' could be wrong, but I didn't mean liquid-wealth... I'm talking real estate, net-wealth... maybe 1 million... anyway, she probably wouldn't have that career if she was born to less money, that's a simple point. 'Muppet' is presumably slander; not very nice.

  • @tobynsaunders Kate's father was just a doctor, which made them comfortable. It wasn't a millonaires profession then. The cost of living was anywhere near what it is now. They had a daughter who was writing songs from the age of 13, The Kick Inside was sophisicated writing for anyone, let alone a teenage girl.. So want it they helped her, that is what parents do.. In was Kate that wrote the songs, it was Kate that maintained her career with original and brilliant work.

  • rubber band hold me trouzers up, lol !

  • I don't agree woth you. Kate is a genious, ilove her. But Tori Amos is also a great musician and singer. the right answer is : who the f... is Lady gaga???

  • Amazing where Kate got all her ideas from. Great dancer as well as singer.

  • I always want to play hide the sausage off with the male dancer....especailly the running up that hill one. Wonder if I can look him up on facebook?

  • @goldenhorn1967 It's one that grows on you.

  • :-)...It is great...thank you..

  • Kate,

I' going on 65... I show the much younger generation your art thy really love you, but don't want me to know.. I guess this has to do with being mature..

  • Oh Kate, I love you for everything that you are; brilliant composer/lyricist, fantastic choreographer and amazing dancer and incredible director of videos. Did I miss anything? Yeah - she's hot. Thanks for posting.

  • I love this groove.

  • "A Rubberband hold me trousers up"....f'n cute vocals

  • The british have a more artistic sense of 'pop' than north america. unfortunately the britneys and such are infecting and dumbing down the music industry around the world also. Kate Bush is one of the most popular female artist in british history. she was the first female artist in britain to have an original number one song; 'wuthering heights'

  • And... how perfectly English.

  • @giannisacco I think it's supposed to sound rubbery. And it does.

  • @giannisacco And is that comment supposed to be vaguely amusing or something?

    How...very unimpressive.

    And... how perfectly Un-English. ;P

  • @giannisacco Unimpressive ? Abit like your comment yeah?

  • genius clip. love this song. shame about the stiff percussion on the album though. it hasn't aged very well.

  • @thecolourofspring You were barely out of your father's bag when this album came out, so you would know this how???

  • @MisterBlue24

    >I was listening to Jefferson Airplane when I was 14. Tell me what exactly does being a certain age have to do with having musical knowledge?

  • @thecolourofspring A lot!!!

  • WHY KATE WHY? D:

  • una de las mejores que he visto kate rules

  • This song got me into Kate. Fantastic song and video.

  • The woman is a genius. End of.

  • An origional.

  • the absolute great-great queen of paradox rock!

  • underrated song

  • wish i was a rubberband boy!

  • I wish there was more stuff like on the radio today. What happened to talent?

  • @garyifny there is none today.

  • @garyifny indeed where are singers like her today?

  • This is so amazingly different...

  • "The rubber bang, bang" ...¡Wow! By the way she dances with her couple she actually looks made of rubber. ¡What awsome song & video! :D

  • I have forgotten how fantastic this record is. Brill.

  • How can it be this song is not even 20? It sounds rather 1983 than 1993. I was sure I heard it in the 80's, when I was a kid..

  • Remember this song from the 90s. But it always reminded me of those mid to late 80s Eurythmics type videos(think Missionary Man) and the sound is kind of 80s style.

Fun video to watch even if gets cheesy at the 3:48 mark

  • The video only got cheesy for you at 3:48? Where the hell were you for the part when the video started up until the 3:48 mark?

  • Long time since I've seen this. Hardly ever saw the video but it stuck in my mind. I remember this was her early 90s comeback. I was about 12. She's a true original, such a visionary.

  • Dig that bass player.

  • my 1 and only love.

  • Wash thy mouth out infidel! Dad Rock indeed. Sheesh!

  • You should see the American video for it - she's even dressed like it's Dad Rock.

  • Heh, maybe so, but our Kate is beyond reproach. Anyway, surely it would be Mom Rock.;)

  • Each to her own....

  • Yay! Lets all do the Rubberband Girl dance!

  • I absolutely love her

  • I always called Beki my rubberband girl as she would bouce back from illness, hospital stays etc and perform, i.e the Razzle Dazzle performance

  • sex symbol joke goes here

  • Enjoyable enough. When compared with her more daring work from The Dreaming and Hounds Of Love, its kind of underwheming though. The Dreaming is her best album in my oppinion.

  • i agree... but, i also appreciate this too - i do like how shes blends techniques and styles she used in the dreaming, hounds of love and snesual world - into the red shoes album, its all more passive and sublte though. the more i hear those little influesnces, i like it more - you can hear the "bulgarain choir" voices here (not literally of course...

  • oh also - i think this is one amazing performace - regardless of the music! (which is pretty darn fine too)

  • Agreed on everything you said, especially that The Dreaming is her best album.

  • Kate Bush is a beautiful genius - love this track!!xxxxx

  • So encouraging, both the song and the witty video...thanks for posting this.

  • thanks for posting this, i woke up with te song in my head :) i love kate bush!

  • I woke up with it in my head today :)

  • Really wonderful and contagious song, Kate at it's best !!

  • Pamiętam ten teledysk z dzieciństwa, fajnie było go zobaczyć po tylu latach

  • I agree, I think.

  • I LOVE HER, AND I LOVE THIS TRACK, I gotta get up and dance everytime I hear this song....never sit still on this song!

  • Love it!

  • Who the f... is Tori Amos????!! KATE IS PURE MAGIC!!!

  • @elevenstar Who the f... is elevenstar????!!

  • @TheZakopanenapokaz Wank your little, tiny dick for a Tori Amos Poster poor polish boy. Don't waste my time - you boring me. You're next fuckin' inappropriate response debarks unread in my garbage ;))

  • @elevenstar.tori amos is a musical hobo compare to the exellence of kate bush.equivalent to comparing shit with gold.

  • @elevenstar Tori Amos is an American singer who had, among other hits, "Cornflake Girl" "Never was a cornflake girl..."

  • @shmuli9 ive no idea why kate busg and tori amos would be mentioned in the same breath? totally different artists who stand alone in being brilliant...one has nothing to do with the other! i would be confused if people put them together on a par! then again Tiger Woods would struggle with par with both of them! shit i made a sporting joke with Tiger woods, tori amos and kate bush! fuck im a genius!

  • @Andyontherocks I know! It's funny... BTW, what is your native language?

  • @elevenstar As a fan of both, I'd like to point out your fallacy. Neither artist is alike.

  • @elevenstar HEY AT LEAST TORI'S GOT TALENT, UNLIKE SHIT ON THE RADIO TODAY

  • kate is soooo hot

  • Its just a fun, funny little song. I remember

when I was younger, and we danced the same way in dannce class. It looks easy to dance withsomeone directly behind you like this....but its NOT EASY, and takes many hours of practice.

  • I always smile when the do that yo-yo move...It looks so funny!

  • Great song!

  • was kate trained in classical dance cos her moves indicate elements of ballet?she definitely looks better than a lot of younger singers out there.

  • katie, you're fine mover!

keep on dancing in your vids.

  • Who's on bass?

  • Sorry for lowering the tone but I could never be that dancer guy - being that close to the delicious Kate would cause loads of problems.......blush

  • yeah, I think all her strait male fans would agree. It pisses me off that people "thumbs down" comments like this. So none of you have ever had crushes on singers you admire???

  • is it "straight"? Sorry, I always fuck up stuff like that and Firefox's spell check can only correct a small percentage of the asinine/obvious-to-most-5th-graders mistakes I make.

  • Yup me to

  • lol...that is the loveliest comment ever :-)

  • Rub a dub a dub a dub!

    Rub a dub a duuuuuub!

    Rub a dub.

  • Starts pretty cheesily, but then the yoyo at 3:10 and the strait jacket (!!!!!)

Kate, you are so unbelievably lovely and mental - and at 35 you were still dancing better than Madonna was at 25!

Danny MacIntosh (2:50) is a lucky man indeed.

  • TWANGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm right there with you oddn. I would give anything to see Kate bush live. She only ever done one tour and i wasn't even born then. She could Sell out an entire tour in hours if she decided to do one.

  • Kate I beg you, please, please tour. Just once, one tiny tour. You don't have to dance or perform at all, just you singing at a piano with no flashy effects or lighting would be more than enough. I'd give almost anything just to see you play one song. Please do it for the 30 year anniversary.

  • i'm american... i love her! I wish she would tour the states : (

  • well she only toured the uk once

  • this is art ..

  • I like this video better than the U.S. version.

  • which is the us version?

    didnt know there was one

  • I sure wish Kate Bush would have a proper tour and come to America...

  • Why? Americans don't even know she is... (more fool them.)

  • You would be surprised the people I know love and adore her but obviously not like Europe. It is unlikely she will tour ever, what a shame..

  • Our love for her in North America is great in a way that it can't be in Europe since she's not as well known over here. But the minute you meet someone and it's established that they love her too, it's like you wonder if this is someone you need to fall in love with!

  • @SpySlowhands So true. Kate's North American fans are many and fierce even if she is still considered an acquired taste here, and I'm glad she is.

  • Occasionally however you get an artist who not only breaks the mold, but is such an odd shape that creating a mold to replicate the shape is near on impossible, i.e Kate Bush, David Bowie, e.t.c., in this instance their work becomes very popular because it is self apparently brilliant yet at the same time elusive to copying and remains something of an anomaly. (I've had too much coffee to drink.)

Anyway the moral of the story is Variety = Good, Uniformity= Bad.

  • Once again I'd have to agree. Variety allows species, industries, and stock portfolios survive when things that once were popular are no longer popular or are struck down by one thing. Make everything the same and something can destroy one thing just as easily as it destroyed the thing next to it that was exactly the same.

  • American auto makers didn't really prepare for things to get bad like this and kept pushing their trucks while ignoring their car line up (something that worked in the '90s when S.U.V.s were popular, fuel didn't hit $4-5, and money was easier to come by)—now they're paying dearly.

Thus meaning that when people tire of this current sound that ridiculously dominates the Top 40—despite not even having distinct enough variations to call itself a genre—record companies will be hurting.

  • i agree....

  • Brilliant!! Another great track from the "Red Shoes" album!!

  • love the words of this song...

  • For some reason the backing instrumentation (the bassline) makes me think of some of the instrumentation in Madonna's "Material Girl".

  • I'm not going to slag Madonna off in this instance because I actually think that 'Material Girl' is an excellent pop song, BUT, this song rules, as does it's maker.

  • That I understand. It's hard to get pop this inspired these days with R&B meets rap songs (masquerading as pure pop) auto-tuned to the point of being practically vocoded ruling all but about 3 slots in the Top 40.

  • Yes I know. Good pop can be incredible. Trouble is that once something becomes popular it's replicated virally throughout it's particular cultural sphere. Do you think that white owned record and television companies give a shit about black music. Of course not. But they realise it's popularity and flood the market with it, thus destroying variety. It's a cynical, cynical money making business.

  • Although last time we had R&B and pop fuse in a very commercial way things at least sounded better. I mean I'd take New Jack Swing over auto-tuned R&B stuff.

Hell, even Nelly Furtado was a breath of fresh air when her first album came out. Catchy and made you smile. While her new stuff is a bit too similar to other people's stuff. I mean heck "Say it Right" sounds just like a cut that didn't make it on to Madonna's Bedtime Stories album—which wasn't bad, but that's just not NF's style.

  • COMPLETLEY agree with you about uniformity being wide open to destruction. Human culture should emulate Nature, where Variety, Hybridizing and Evolution insure survival. I also totally agree with you. I love bands like Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Bauhaus, e.t.c BUT I also really appreciate acts like Nelly Furtardo. Your right, she was kooky and light and cool to listen to and now she's been absorbed into the fold. Good pop really does pack a powerful punch.

  • Great video, multi-talented Kate at her best. Her background is in modern dance, that's why she's such an active participant in her videos.

  • i'm so confused as to why this showed up in my recomended videos

  • Brill. My favourite Kate single by a mile!

  • I think this is my least favorite album from Kate. =( It's too generic for her.

  • dude that dance is whacky but cool

  • This song is so different for Kate. One of her finest, up there with Wuthering Heights and Running Up That Hill, in my opinion.

  • The drummer is playing imaginary cymbals!
