Cnet needs to replace this test with all third party software. If the MBA beat the Zenbook by a long shot in that one test, but but they are almost toe to toe in most others, its clear the test is what's at fault.
Who cares which is faster, if you're buying this type of computer, your probably just going to be surfing the web and typing documents. Processing power really doesn't matter for these things. Just get the one with the OS you prefer.

I am a user of the Macbook Air, and I really can't go back to windows. I hate the trackpad on windows laptops! It's so boring that it doesn't have any more multitouch gestures than laggy scrolling and REALLY laggy zooming. The Mac just flows, and it feels really natural to use it.
The keyboard and the pad are not usable on the Zen. The keyboard is really, really bad, it is the worst that I have seen on any product in a long time. Unless you hit the key dead center it does not register.

@D3Buddha as in, despite being the same price but it holds more features, has better specs? etc etc and again I wasnt talking about a particular model I was talking about the company in general, and a perfect example would be the Asus Eeepad Transformer, they come at about the same price as the iPad yet it has several additional ports that allow you to say.....HDMI or a MicroSD card.... really shut the fuck up Oh and nice try trying to tag me, what do you think this is? Both **can** come with the 1.7Ghz i-5 but the Asus can be upgraded to the 1.8Ghz i-7 for 1200$ while MacBook Air cost 1700$ for the same upgrade. That plus 34.95 for HDMI and 30$ for Ethernet adapter, the UX31 is 565$ cheaper. Maybe next time do better research and less pretend boxing c/net. Your a joke.

@MrAppleman97 the world disagrees, the fact that there are more windows based computers than macs is true speak to that, dont be an idiots I own a Macbook, but my main desktop runs on windows 7 and its a computer I made, dont be fooled I payed big money for it (probably around the same price as your Macbook or more) but I can definetly enjoy much more in it and can do far more, and when the day comes its obsolete I can pop the case and slap in the newer hardware....on a mac? I dont think so.

@MrAppleman97 If you'd like detail in products you would have bough a Windows capable computer or better yet had built your own, what more detail than to be able to upgrade and manage what you bought how you see fit, idiot instead of running hardware and software thats on a closed systems that prohibits you from getting what you actually payed for, and remember before you even think about what you say I own various Apple products, but anything with Windows or Android IMO its FAR BETTER.

And when you see a Mac on a collage or a business they are most of the time running Windows in dual boot or VM and vast majority of the users have it too, why? The quality product is more than just a sum of it's parts. Its how the design, function, and everything integrate and combine that defines it's value. Simply multiplying the parts of the numbers will not do it. And who's to say that performance and design are worth the same? Should they be compiled together at all?
