This is a good song, I particularly enjoy the sort of arabic sound is has to it. A group called Rapalje performed it as Wat Zullen We Drinken, sort of an Irish drinking song. This is a great performance but it's VERY weird to imagine Candace doing much drinking much less fighting.
Original is better for me as well as the folk cover but then again I'm dutch so I can understand it. This is a good cover though, a bit too much electric music for my taste which doesn't fit the song or Blackmore's Night.
After all that Ritchie Blackmore had done for rock and roll, his fans do not seem to appreciate him. I have seen so many rude comments and personal insults posted by his "fans". A true fan grows with the musician, or perhaps you guys stopped growing back in the 1980s. Ritchie did not.
hola soi manuel fernandez no te conosco pero si te gusta BLACMORE soi tu amigo para mi siempre ha sido mi maestro MIRA EN YOU TUBE MI TRABAJO HOMBRES PODEROSOS DE MANUEL FERNANDEZ ESPERO QUE TE GUSTE un saludo
@mickblizz in english, this keltic instrument seems to be called bombarde as it is in french. A very loud trebly instrument that can rival an amplified electric guitar...
The interlude played by Candice is Schiarazula Marazula, an old italian song, so it seems this song draws on quite a few inspirations and is not a cover of the Son ar Chistr
the real title of this song is Son ar Chistr, it comes from Brittany (west of France) it's about cider's drinking. You can listen to Alan Stivell version if you type Son ar Chistr...
completely different version / language. I like the BN's re-arranged version, one of my fave's from BN so its nice to know where the original inspiration came from. One of many blackmorized tunes!

ok i get it people get bored of playing rock but what a fuckin waste of talent. the man was god in deep purple and rainbow. i'll leave it at that , this is for the elves.
Goblins and Elves? Hardly.. Ritchie's OWN preference! He didn't like the way the music of Deep Purple was going, and likewise with Rainbow. quick update to those who missed the announcement back in October. Ritchie & Candice are now Husband & Wife.
hum when ejoyed when he was with purple but he always wanted a heavier sound , then he achieved that with the hard rock band RAINBOW with Dio;and he liked, but then he wanted go with mainstream and changed the direction to AOR then when he returned with purple made AOR and hard rock, when he left again becouse fights in the band he started to see closely this kind of music with RAINBOW again, then focused on it with his wife.He has changed his preferences many times and he have enjoyed each period
I just love the way Ritchie slide those cool licks in there. The worlds greatest guitarist with the best tone ever. I think it's cool he is finally doing music that makes him happy!
There are not too many "rock" tunes where you can bring in the bagpipes, but this is one of them. Anyone know who the 2 musicians were that came in on the finale? And whan insturment was that other guy playing.

I think that they were or drunk or are deaf. Those flutes are false. I'm not trying to criticize. The music is pure genius. But at what level Ritchie Blackmore sings..... it is inadmissible.
When you have mastered an instrument you are entitled to be called 'maestro'. Through the music of Blackmores Night Ritchie shows how much such a title is deserved. He really is a true virtuoso and how I just wish I had one millionth of his ability.

I have never understood why Ritchie would stop making music in the genre that he helped create in the 70's. Up until now, that is. You see, I haven't seen his wife before. For a man his age to get a wife like that ... I guess we'd all be willing to play crap music and make fools of ourselves. Right? I'm happy for you Ritchie!
Crap music? I don't think so. I love their music, and I don't think anyone in that group is a fool. They are all very talented hardworking people. Just because it isn't speed metal rock doesn't make it crap. I like Blackmores Night and Rob Zombie, Metallica and Enya, Yanni and Linkin Park, and Nickleback. Try a bit of variety.

Hey, I'm no stranger to variety. I love Fairport Convention, Incredible Stringband, Pentangle, Joni etc. I'm in my 40's, man! But BN is crap. And crap doesn't smell any sweeter even if it comes from a great man. But he's entitled to spend his time as he sees fit. And with a wife like that, who could blame him?
Hey, you are entitled to your opinion. However, although it's not PC to vote on what kind of music is best, I really think I'd get the majority of the votes in the real world. Amongst the guys making comments about a BN vid on youtube, you'll probably get the majority. So live and let live, huh? You'll listen to this ... music, and I'll listen to Made in Japan. Anyway, the point I was trying to make, was just that I was happy for old Ritchie (on his luck in the marriage department).
You'll either love or hate this. I personally love it (as well as Purple and Rainbow). I love the fantasy element of it all. It reminds me of reading a good fantasy novel, you know? Call it the music of escapism. My issue here is why would you bother commenting on it and being insulting to the artists by calling them crap. I can't really stand
Seldom (or never) has folk music witnessed such an accomplished group of devoted musicians and singer stretching its horizons from centuries past to the present (and beyond). This band is timeless...one for the ages.
Ritchie has that magic to bring out the acoustic alchemy in every musician he works with, can u hear that bassist, incredible.... and the beat goes on in the tradition of the maestro... we'll drink to that!!

Buti don't think that this is compareble with the Blackmore's Night version.
He sort of reinfented the song, and it sounds cool to me :) .
BTW have you heard the new version of Bots feat. Ali B of this song, now that's terrible.

The music, in between, is a rework of the Maltese Brawl, The Cobbler's Jig. and the Lyric parts are slight reworks of the same music.

I would also imagine this version was Inspired by the Bots version. But the original music, goes further back.
