This video is garbage. I'm an electrical engineer and I speak from a technical view. Solar is okay if you can afford it. It is tremendously over sold. I know the economics of solar and they do not pay for themselves in 10 years unless you have a very hefty government subsidy. This means other taxpayers are paying for your solar panels. And no, solar panels do not produce much energy on a cloudy day. This is rubbish. Solar will not produce more than about 1-2% of our energy for the next 30 years.
interesting comments... garbage? My films have been called worse but I'm listening! Yes we got a subsidy. 50% Yes this was subsidized...So is much of our infrastructure . The subsidy enabled us to afford it-plus we get satisfaction from using power from the sun... the fact that it pays us off in ten years and then pays off the subsidy in the second ten is a good thing... and it will keep working for many years after that... thanks for your thoughts!
If you want to bypass the subsidy build your own panels and install them yourself the cost would reduce greatly.
The one thing I would like to see is solar water heating that single decision would provide 30% energy savings. Solar water heating is mandatory in some nations. If the solar panels are such a bad deal why is Germany investing heavily in them?

I don't like subsidies because they distort economic decisions. Solar Water Heating is useful if you live in the Sunbelt and you have adequate roof space for Heaters. Mandatory-Hell NO! Ah, the Germans! Well the Germans are not known for making the best decisions all the time. They've bought into the religious aspect of Solar so they are inpervious to logic. It's a common German Character Fault. I know, I'm German-American.

Looks very professional... except for the blinking green comic sans font and the intro comment alternation. The intro reminds me a little bit of a middle school speech project where people would alternate words to sound clever and coordinated. I wouldn't bring it up except that this is your initial impression and it's the weakest part!
I think the environmental aspects are very over emphasied, and some of the comments are actually irrelevant - such as the ones about foreign oil, of which solar will not affect at all.
We have been selling solar systems for almost 30 years, and the LEAST of the motivations is the environment - saving money and "screwing the electric company" seem to be the prime motivators. In other words, Capitalist Pigs buy them, Earth Muffins do not.
How much an average system would cost me. How can I find a reputable company. I been looking for sometime now. Some companies want to gouge you. Please provide your input. I had one company want thirty thousand and they will also keep the repeat.

Very annoying introduction, and music suitable for ADD sufferers. I think the message is good... the makers of this video should get better information about how not to scare away or annoy viewers. And why is their name there the whole time. Again, just give the information, and sure, show your name at the beginning and end and in the description text.

It would help to if you could explain which parts scare and annoy you too? As to why our name it there, it protects our intellectual property and it helps organizations easily finds us so they can arrange to license the film for use on their web sites or to show to groups they want to share info on solar arrays. yes so true, pay back time is 150-300 years for a solar system. There is so much BS out there. The cost of energy is so cheap.
