  • I thought this really great. Loved the airial shots of Columbus Circle and the Park. Getting those camera back must have been a nightmare.

  • A great idea !!!

  • what kind of camera did you attach on the balloon?

  • A great video!!! Thanx for posting.

I am from New York and I miss it, I miss the free- spirited people who live there.

  • how come you guys didnt get a bb gun and pop the balloons

  • AWESOME

  • Amazing, it had some nice views.

  • stupid hipsters

  • i wish i could do that across the israeli-syrian border, but i probably won't get the camera back..

  • I have been playing around with KAP (Kite Ariel Photography) for a few years and have never captured anything as cool at this. Thanks for sharing this! What a great idea.

  • yeah there is something really special about the 'no strings attached' aspect of the project!

  • how do u know when the balloons are about to go down? how can u be sure it wont go beyond central perk? im so confused about that XD

  • there is a little thing called a needle. that pops the balloons and they come down ;) not perfect science but it works most of the times.

  • man this thing is so brilliant and beautiful all at once... it makes me wana cry!

  • thanks!

  • BUEN VIDEO.SIGUIENTE?????

  • The guy who climbed the tree is really brave!!!

  • Hey man, let me join you guys if you're back in Holland! (:

  • You are so lucky you did not have any issues with the police. You should have seen the crap I had to go through when I took a pic of the sears tower.

  • Lol you hear a pop in 3:42

  • you betch your bottom bracket!

  • U.F.O.

    SHOOT IT ! ^^ hahaha

  • Man I love all your vids man

  • wow these r breath taking do one on a beach somewwhere so it goes over water and then the sea breeze will carry it back

  • we actually tried that. check out our CAPRI one ;)

  • how long were they up for

  • about 25 minutes

  • Do you need permits for this? Was there any legal concerns?

  • some places you do, like italy, but in new york the police were surprisingly cool about the whole thing.

  • I'm beyond shocked to hear that. This is the most incredible information I've heard in long time.

I was shooting one of my friend's walking by borough hall in brooklyn and we were told we needed a permit (and we were handheld!) My goodness.

    -E

  • cool

  • dude thats pretty cool. another idea might be to attach the camera at an angle so it gets some semi landscape shots? Still pretty damn awesome tho, good work!

  • that's an idea. maybe if we sent up two cameras with a weather vane so it would spin around (if that would even work) cause the spinning would make the horizon shots unbearable don't you think.

  • Fantastic, more please! I love the way you have footage from the ground mixed with stuff from the balloon for duel perspective.

  • thank you!

we're doing one today in fact :)

  • Do it again!!!!

  • Oh wait, I just realized the aerial footage is available on your website. D'oh!

  • hi,

all theses videos are nice but i prefered the first one's

it is interesting to see what happen on the ground with the chase team but, it is another project

the main fun is to see the town from the sky, during 5, 10 or 15 minutes without interruption

when another video sequence is inserted, it kills the magic

    dondiba

  • I agree. I love this montage sequence where you see what else is going on, but I also really like watching the original footage.

  • we would love to post the original here but we gotta ask youtube to let us upload more than 10 minutes. soon i hope :)

  • you are right. the original footage for this is on our website and if you watch it do the full screen option and turn your screen 90 degrees to the right. this also works for the berlin balloon project.

  • I wanted to ask you guys a few questions. First of on your website I did donate $100. The questions i havea re how do the balloons come down. If you have the camera zoomed in or out while flying. How many balloons did it take. And finally how you ever got it to come down. Did you puncture the balloons (if so how) or what? Thanks you guys rock, Yomega9

  • Great job Ira et al.!! Very fun, free, fresh and full of life!! Balloon projects should sprout up all over the earth! This is the way of peace and love and life....

  • AWESOME JOB! Let's make it happen as good as this in SF soon.

  • Nice! ***** BTW, the guy who brought the camera from the tree got balls, seriously 0.0

  • I always loved these innovative fun projects.

You guys just have fun with a few balloons, an awesome camera and laws of gravity.

Keep it up. I really like the vieuws :)

    Johnbeyer

  • thanks john! we'll keep it up till we run out of helium ;)

  • Iam honored that you replied, thanks for that.

  • brilliant as always :) Nate must be very brave to climb up there. you rock people!

  • very brave!

  • There was a girl taking a huge clump of red balloons out of her car today at my college, and I almost stopped and asked her if she knew what The Balloon Project was...

Kudos to you guys, once again!

  • where was this? after the balloons landed in the tree in central park another group of green balloons flew over us and a lot of the bikers were confused if they should chase that one too. but it was going really fast and rising quick. i guess there are other uses for a group of balloons :)

  • Yeee I wish I could think of something exciting & artistic to do.

The balloon project may very well be an inspiration!

    <3

  • Nice, loved it, so what are you planning next Guys?

  • you'll find out in the next two weeks. until then secret :)

  • this video is 100% captivating from beginning to end...what a ride!

  • what a ride... maybe if a bird landed on the camera while it was floating up there ;)

  • Thats so great!

    I love these!

  • fisheye. that would be pretty cool!

  • wowza. now that's a tree to get stuck in.

  • That was great. I always wonder how you get those balloons to come down after a certain periode. Do they slowly leak gas?

  • nate the squirrel - he did an incredible job. as all of you. thanks for sharing these moments. c

  • ahhh, i wish i was there!!

  • wanna come on the 17th?

  • That was such a joy to watch, and Nate that was one hell of a climb brother man. Congrats to you all! Much love:)

  • yeah nate totally rocked that park! the day before we had a tree climbing expert attempt it and say it wasn't possible. and then i called up my good friend nate to meet up the day before i left and he's like "let me take a look at that tree" and all of a sudden we was at the top!! it was truly amazing!
