I was fortunate enough to have seen them at Sadler's Wells theatre in London around about this time. There are only two bands that I would love to see reform - Talking Heads and Cocteau Twins.
@ninethreefivesix Totally agree. There's a similar live version on here under heading Pandora CT's Live the Black Sessions where the audience keep quiet til the end :O)
Sadly I never got to see The Cocteau Twins live, but at least I can listen to this, close my eyes, and pretend I am one of the enthusiastic, mesmerized audience members. What a beautiful live version of my favorite CT song.
subclub night moves vamps lloyd cole twins ahhhhhhhhhhh eighties bleached blonde hair young etchy feet man s alive seen this live soooooooooooo good make a cum bak.....wimpybum lives sort x
This is just lovely. I've been a fan for many years, and I would dearly love to see them reform, or even see Liz Fraser live. Nothing like them before or since xxx
Twins fan for 25 years. I'm forty. Hearing the interplay between the band and the audience is cheering. The love among the band members is palpable. The love between the band and the audience is doubly cheering. Please - if anyone out there has more of these recordings get them out here for us. This recording has been a revelation for me. As Liz sings in "Evangeline" - "there is no going back". These recordings are all we have. Unless they do a "comeback tour" like, say, the Stones ; )
@IzaakHaaze There is some really amazing rare live recordings uploaded by a gentle person called fatcatbuzz, you can check them, there is a lot of them.
@avalyn5 - I was the same - I just couldn't believe what I was seeing - Liz looked as if she was channelling something otherworldly, standing constantly beating her breast. That was when she still used to use a lot of that strange but lovely vibrato when she sang.
Liz Fraizer has the be one of the most amazing singers that ever was. The Cocteau Twins music takes me to a different place. I think it's called outer space. Or the desert.
Check out Rilkean Dreams posting and listen to the beauty at the end of Rilkean Heart before Half- Gifts starts. It will take your breath away, take you to a better place for 15 seconds and make your life a bit better for ever.
yeah they think they at some kinda rowdy party college fucks or some rock hard party show.. what the hell is that....I know people get happy and what not... I don't like how the drums get loud either....party on wade ! ! !
I bet you wouldn't have said that if you had been there! The crowd sometimes annoy me, but I understand their ecstatic utterings. It must have been something else to witness this live!!
I hope Liz, Robin and Simon live forever!!! They deserve Eternity, and their legend will surely live on forever and ever as long as there are people who love music. I am so grateful they did all these tracks and I hope they do meny more!!!
I only wish I was born earlier so I could see them live...
Wolverhampton(UK), 1996. Not so good unfortunately, i think she was going out with Jeff Buckley at the time and he was encouraging her to give live songs different interpretations (like Bluebeard in the dropdown list over there> Hard to tell which song she ws singing half the time)). Still pretty awesome but not as good as some of her live singing on here...
i think all bands/artists have kind of an on-off rythm throughout their live performances. i mean, good Lord, i was a huge JIMI HENDRIX fan growing up, and heaven knows some of his live performances were pretty much awful. the thing to remember about LIZ FRASER is: she DEFINITELY had the hardest job in the band.
but when she was "ON," live, woe was she ever on! like that live "Pitch the Baby" w/ Mark Clifford...
I always assumed this song wouldn't be sung live because of the layers on the recorded version, but this is a revelation. With a voice like that you can do anything you like. Best singer ever.
I don't have the slightest idea of the lyrics; but not necessary this is pure dadaist poetry sung by one of the most amazing voices in the world, Liz Fraser.
FFFFFFFFFFFFF.. F F F F F FF FFFF.. FFFFF FFFFFF FF FFF F FFF FFFF F..F.F.F.F.FFF... Esta cancion es mi vida, determina mis dias me vuelve loco...Dios, no puedo econtrar palabras, esta por encima de ellas. FFF F F F F F F F F F F F F F F F F FFF.. FFF F F FFFF. F.F. ..F. F... FFFFFFFFFFFFFF F F F F F FF FFF FFFF F F F
Lame? Sit there and yell? This (American, Boston I think) audience are in pure rapture!! Different to a UK audience, but I can understand their pure joy & unbridled enthusiasm when I listen to this!
if you like this you should hear the real version of this song. one of the main points of the cocteau twins was that they never employed a real drummer!
what makes me crazy when I listen to this... I think of all the current "artists" who lip synch when they do a live show... this is pure brilliance and it would be a tragedy if she was a huge pussy like most of today's pop stars and didn't have the balls to really sing live, because I own every studio recording she's made of this song (as far as I know ) and her voice is the most exquisite by far on this one.
awesome !!!

This brings me back to the Warfield show in '96 when she sang it just as brilliantly. The audience was even louder though! Boy, do I miss them.
