actually i shot the gnome in the cave my first try standing in front of him. he didnt highlight with white when i aimed, but i still got him; before i noticed the issue of you not being able to get him.

If you use a rifle it gets it in one when your stood infront of it and you can only melee it with a sword

I had to save my game and go back to the dashboard and then start back on the game. The gnome didn't light up but he did die after the first shot instead of the plethora of shots that didn't kill him.

I had the same problem with that fucker in the cave. I just kept shooting it at close range and it finally went down.
