except that it wont be glasses, it'll be contact lenses that have the combined technology of xbox kinect the internet and 3d television. so you can interact with the augmented reality without it even being there. so if we were both looking at the same empty wall we'd really be seeing, speaking, hearing and interacting with a whole nother world like a window, then we will be the aliens. next using up other worlds of resources

GPS and compass functions can already approximate some of this - for example, you can get apps on the iPhone that allow you to point your camera and receive info on restaurants and shops in that direction.

The biggest hurdle would be getting the software to correctly identify real-world objects, signs, etc, instead of guestimating based on GPS location.
