i would not even say that he is only doin "old school" stuff...ok an aerial is old school but his combos are still comparable with martial arts tricks today.
I am an OLD friend of Ben's from Missouri and I was hoping to get in touch with him. If anyone has his email or anything please let me know! I promise I'm not some crazy person... Thanks!
I wonder where Ben is these days, I haven't seen him in years. Certainly clean forms, I used to train with him and he was all about getting maximum force with fully extended legs and arms. Flash kick his hips 8 feet high I tell ya!
I read on a website somewhere that he doesn't practice most of the things he is doing in this video anymore. He said that he is strictly practicing martial arts techniques only. It sounded like he was only focusing on "fighting techniques" now. I guess the difficulty of the moves in this vid helped with his training but he seems to have moved on from them. He is either in California or Missouri? He said he was still training hard though.

I don't care if it makes me an asshole, on behalf of all real martial artists, including the ones who do flips and know they aren't associated with fighting; don't associate tricking with any martial art outside of tae kwon do.
"REAL" martial artists? And, what makes you think that Ben Brown is not a "real" martial artist? Do you know him? Of course you dont. It is just your assumption. What makes you think that Ben Brown "associates flips with fighting"? Do you know this to be true or are you speculating?
Congratulations, you and hundreds of other people have seen a video of him. That doesn't mean you know anything about him.
Don't presume to question him as a martial artist. You dont know him or.....
or his thoughts on the martial arts. For a "real" martial artist you certainly seem to be narrow minded.
Is your Roundhouse Kick better than the ones in this vid? If your answer is no, then I would watch your words, friend. Until you have met him, you don't have the right to imply that he is any less of a martial artist than you. He's probably much more of a martial artist than you. FACT: You don't know because you don't know him.
KempoKombatant, you need to assume less and train more.
yer man. i love the cheat 720 hook or whatever it is in the parking lot. i something like it from a different cheat start and on the other leg. video comin out soonish....
the standard when it comes to idea of strong foundations in basic tricks.
in comparison to all ive seen old and new Ben Brown still remains to be my favorite.

Ben Brown is like the prometheus of tricking. He stole the weightlessness from the gods of physics and gave it to the tricking community.

Very good just dont call it martial arts when ur flipping
KempoKombatant 4 years ago
hahaa!
i love when people talk this nonsense.
1)gung fu/wushu, taijustu, and capoeira are all ancient martial art styles (older than kenpo =) dating back hundreds of years in origin.)
2)guess what?! there are flips in all the above mentioned styles.
3)there are flips incorporated in certain kicks in taekwon-do as well.
go do your research buddy.
