Very nice! Where I live fella launched a 4 foot model of Apollo. The detail was fantastic and it was launched on a pitchers mound at the park. It went up 3 feet and coasted sideways, tilted and shot like a bullet straight at homeplate where it crashed and then spun about 30 times while everybody ran for their lives.
Very nice rocket launch and flight! I see this, and several other large scale model rockets on youtube, and I'd like to know where one can obtain such huge rocket motors, or are they homemade? I'd like to build my own large rocket someday, I'm tired of my little Estes, though they were fun. Any pointers?
Search for Tripoli Rocketry Association, join, go L2 at least and if you get to the right launches you'll get to meet the people who build their own. It can be dangerous work so learn the safety and the formulas. Be safe, good luck.
im sure you need permission to launch those rockets in a designated area.
on my college campus we have lots of planes flying by but we only shoot off small model rockets but they do go high lol. with a c engine we could probably hit it. the planes fly so low around here
Thanks for all the wonderful comments everyone. My friend shot this video of my 3/4 scale Patriot Missile which weighed 210 lbs. at lift-off. I have launched this rocket 5 times to date. This launch was on 1 "N" class motor, and 4 "K" class motors. I have since built another booster section which now encompasses 1 "N" and 4 "M" class motors. The weight now is 310 lbs. and it goes well over 8000'. If you want to see it fly, come to LDRS 28 in Potter, NY in July of 2009.
In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars franchise a rocketeer named Andy Woerner, with the help of his rocketry club members, has built a 21 foot long replica of the X-Wing Fighter that will actually fly on four rocket motors in the scale engine locations. Do you have to be in a non-populated area to launch a rocket this size?

Stop bragging about your G size rockets.
No one actually cares.
The rockets I,m working on are K-M class, You don't see me shooting up all the comments bragging.

Non populated area, FAA clearance, buffer zone for recovery, safe distances for public etc etc A lot of work goes into every launch ahed of time

This is the slow motion clip, the sound is slowed along with the video.....but it is the real sound slowed down to 20% on FCE
