  • I never thought of homestay. I can imagine doing homestay in Sapa would be quite an experience. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Most of these countrymen of ours still live, love, struggle, & die, like they've always done... for ages... tilling the same small patches of exhausted land, to extract every possible last trace of nutrients for their crops... seemingly never to care, or to know, about the larger trajectories of the world... or to see NY, London, or Paris ... or to study the greater ideas of deeper thinking men & women whose discoveries that shape the world, in arts, in science, in linguistics, in anthropology..

  • Jana Stanfield, thanks for these clips. They made me smile; but it also saddened me to know that "my" people haven't made much progress since we left southern China generations ago. (I feel a bit strange saying that; but there's no denying the affinity... it's like an American of Irish ancestry thinking of Ireland & its wind-swept coast; and some of my nieces & nephews are indeed Hmong-Irish Americans!, the twist of it all...)
