yea, i get what he is saying about the nostalgia tours being bad if those bands plan to do get get a career going or try new things , but if they dont want to do music anymore, then reliving their glory days isnt really that bad. its probably fun for them
Every time I've seen an interview of Trent Reznor talking about Numan, he always seems to state Numan as a catalyst for his existence. I love NIN and i have to tip my hat to the "godfather of electronic music". Thanx Gary!
Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson don't talk to you because they don't wanna bother you...If you want to talk to them, contact them. If they contact you, It'd be the equivalent of a fan contacting you.
Thanks for posting this as i haven't come across this interview before. What the hell is Redemption TV? True, this girl isn't the best interviewer in the world (but better than the Ms Divine one which was about as bad as you can get!) and we get nothing new here, but interesting from a completists point of view. Thanks for posting this :)
u seem to forget my friend that it was the fans who wanted the telekon tour because they wanted 2 here the old stuff not many artists would take time out to something like that for there fans so credit were its due
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yep all credit to Gary Numan "godfather of electronica [Not] playing the original CD album in the background and having his useless band shit over the top of it.
Nice of Gary to slag off other bands from the same genre just because they choose to do 80s nostalgia tours.
He toured Telekon last year I suppose that doesn't count? whatever, people need to earn money. For him to sit there pointing the finger is a bit rich especialy when he sold out with crap like Techno Army and The mix which features different versions of old songs from his most succesful period.
People can change their minds, you know. It's not illegal. I understand how it sounds, and yeah, Gary's not exactly known for his tact or his way with words, but at least he's genuine. You know he means what he says, and you know that when he changed his mind, it's for real, too. Don't tell me you've never changed your mind about anything... only no-one's interviewing you, so you don't get things quoted back at you.
Yes o elaborate on zomzomgit's point, I hve heard in interviews that Gary Numan did the Telekon Tour lst year really to please the older fans becuase they were complaining about Jagged and was always going on about the old songs and albums, I think if he could have got away with not revisiting Telekon, he possibly wouldn't have turned it
He had no option but to do the Telekon shows, by his own admission Jagged sold as good as fook all and they barely broke even. The UK/Euro Jagged tours were flops that lost him money, he said so himself before you get your knickers in a twist!
what numan does in terms of new stuff .jagged pure which i think are the best garys ever done when did Depeche Mode, A-Ha, Duran Duran. last put out an album even half as good. as jagged and pure

lol i bet he got held at gun point and admitted he was bluffing.
still the telekon tours and the replicas tours still had the industrial and hard edged feel to it.
