You should have a waterfall coming from the library which falls into the piston water catch, then when open, into the farm for harvesting. THAT would give the enchanting room a feel of magical-ness, give the place a beautiful look, and still be functional as a harvester.

If you take the iron and smelt it down and then you put into block you can carry a lot more. same goes. so you can go deeper in the cave and not have to come back to it.

You can put fences under your tilled soild so you can move over the crops without harming them. otherwise you can sneak on them without destroying them or the land.

I'm not too sure, but maybe if you have a 10 second timer, a 15 second timer, and a 24 second timer, and a detector for each, they will all reach their detectors at the same time once every hour. So you would have a switch for the water that would only turn on if all 3 detectors are on. Good luck :)

you can easily make a nether portal with some buckets of lava and some water..

just make a mold layer by layer and fill it with lava.. throw water over it, place the next layer.. add water.. and after a while you have a nether portal without ever having to mine obsidian.. I had a nether portal without having even 1 diamond

Going to second the suggestion for the pressure plate on the side right after your door - it will auto close your door and auto open it when you are leaving - just have to open it when you enter from outside.
