  • the facts also point to the infamous illuminati group being the patriots. and the 12 members were part of the skull and crossbones society commonly known as C.I.A. (our CIA in langley)

they covered up everything including kennedy's assassination to the moon landing and area 51. either the game creator knew and spread the message secretly or just mere coinsidence.

  • have led to the incident of the twin towers. the government admitted being involved yet they censor it so we cant back it up. so others would be blamed. think about it while you read this. and no doubt that agencies actually read this so i must be cautious.

  • this conversation says alot of whats happening in todays world ive seen signs in both the internet and real life, the fact that censorship is taking place today means that people are adapting to the fiction of the "now" instead of whats covered. just like what the president said "do public opinions influence the government?" if they did we wouldnt have war and we would of had a better government but again they decide to block what we say and do the opposite. which to some people believe that may

  • MEMES!

  • Kojima knew it all along guise!!!! kojima>>>>>>>jesus

  • My friends, the Patriots are real. Just look at the SOPA bill.

  • @Enkarashaddam So is D.A.R.P.A and its key focus's are technology and the human gnome project. which is also real.

most of the stuff maybe in Metal Gear Solid where it says its all fiction is actually fact of what is happening now.

  • @sedgie09

sorry but human "gnome" project is a pretty hysterical typo.

I do get what you are saying though, the thing is MGS was fictional but it no doubt took cues from real world issues that is why some of what was being bought forward in the games is actually starting to exist in some degree.

  • @nextbigthingMVP01 oh so sorry I missed out one letter whoopy do LMAO. human genome project is what I ment lol.

If anything though the world is starting to turn out like how it is played in Metal Gear. makes you wonder if Hideo Kojima was trying to warns us or giving out a message. like where emma goes on about controlling digital information from rogue agents could that be in term with Wiki leaks

  • @sedgie09 and the retaliation from the government is SOPA and PIPA which is cencoring the net.

  • "Our beloved monsters... enjoy yourselves"

I almost passed out from the sheer creepiness there.

  • mind=blown

  • That isn't GW it's JD

  • There are more conversation, what happend, the dialogue is incomplete

  • @o0WolfRain0o Yeah, the source I got it from excluded a few bits, mostly the ones that use video footage aside from the Codec screen. I guess it was a file size issue. The response video should have the full thing.

  • i think strangelove and huey create this... from the memory boards of metal gear ZEKE

  • i remember first time i played this, it was some scary ass shit. The music an mood is perfect and you'd just been playing for hours straight so it really got to you. Epic game!

  • I shall make a composition based on this brilliant dialog.

  • 4;45

    "You have to be-LIE-ve me"

I see what you did there, Rose!

  • MGS2 was Kojima's big fuck you to everyone, and I respect him for that (even if I thought it was totally bullshit then).

  • you have to be LIE ve me

  • Fuck...as if I actually skipped this Codec scene...The first time I got to this part I was actually scared and confused so I skipped it lol and I just skipped it every other time I got to this scene :/ how naive of me lol. Watching this now makes me want to get a PS2 again and dig out MGS2 and play it again, maybe if I can find my Memory Card that would help as well...

  • i dont understand what censoring the net is supposed to do

  • @Norcalxx GW is so advanced that it can quantify the results of censoring one event (like shadow moses or the tanker incident) and extrapolate how it's disappearance from the web and the media will shift the cultural paradigm. It's basically the post y2k version of world domination. They can bend society into whatever shape they want by selectively exposing it to certain events, stories, etc.

  • @Norcalxx

Certain countries already do this, i.e. China... If you control what information is available, it will alter human thought. The patriots control info, thus can influence human progress.

  • @thomas007 okay i dont really see how this is practical though. if someone posted information and it got deleted, it would easily get noticed. not to mention all the different forms of news. how are you supposed to delete the information of a newspaper that has already been sent out, or videos of witness confessing information. it just doesnt really make sense. its a cool idea... i'll give it that

  • itachimeyano summed up the entire cutscene in about three or four lines. Pretty good cut scene, really true, when i first played it i thought i was brilliant.

  • i got scared wen i first played this part i was like no it cant be real. it plays with you.

  • This was, hands-down, the best part of the game story-wise. A number of parts were pretty shaky and the plot in general kinda falls apart at the end, but this exchange was brilliant.

Hell, in a way I think this game might have been better if it was designed as a stand-alone title, rather than a part of the Metal Gear saga. It's got some sparkles of brilliance in its own right, but it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the MG series.

  • This is twelve different flavors of creepy. But there's kind of a hole in the philosophy here... They oppose the internet, while at the same time opposing the lifestyle of seclusion, 'staying in your small gated communities, afraid of a larger forum'. Isn't the internet itself kind of the ultimate forum? Even the comment list on this site itself is a nexus of idea exchange. And yes, I know it's just a video game, but any idea worth playing through in cut-scenes is worth discussing I think.

  • The internet may be a larger forum but what they mean is, people are free to input their own truths without consequence.

  • @FoxxyGradius Really they seek to control the Internet. They want to make it their own. It sort of is their turf, after all. They wanna "clean it up", as it is. Like they said, it's not about eliminating content as it is about creating context. In this age, you control information, you control the minds of people, or at least how people think.

What's creepy to me is that we won't realize this. They can just change something and people won't notice.... well, at least I hope people notice.

  • @FoxxyGradius Heyo! I don't think they're against the internet. More against how it's been used to equalize and give power to all members of the vox populi as it were. In GW's view, there is no truth when everyone has their own. It wants to selectively manipulate what gets attention on the web and in the media so it can create what it feels is a more enlightened NWO or some wacky shit like that lol Can't evolve as a species when nothing is censored or "naturally selected" hahahahaha

  • @FoxxyGradius the free internet is good, but to use the network to kill by proxy? the thought alone makes me wanna remotely seize control of military drones that are armed harmlessly into the ground... this is just how I feel, I don't intend on acting on it just in case GW, oops I mean the NSA, ooops I mean google red flag this comment NOT A THREAT!

  • @FoxxyGradius But the Internet is also a pile of the so called "convenient truths" they're talking about...

  • @FoxxyGradius

One common complaint against Internet culture is that people primarily indulge in their own interests with like-minded individuals and bypass criticism and other ways of thinking. This is an extension of how cable television channels cater to specific interests while network television covers broader topics. The fear is that this will lead to a society of closed-minded, narcissistic introverts. If you what to know more, look up Andrew Keen, who popularized the theory.

  • "Our beloved monsters, enjoy yourselves" man that creeped me out.

  • I'm not a big fan of MGS, but this conversation in particular, I really like. This topics of the discussion aren't really fiction.

  • After Raiden wakes up in Metal Gear Arsenal, the rest of the game is really creepy....but it's also the part where the most themes/philosophy of the game are....MGS is a really amazing series.

  • hey the lynk doesnt work, do you know were i can download this video a need it for a project(video)

  • beLIEve

  • the patriots are threating raiden.

olga: "if you die my child dies"

if raiden doesn't make it, the patriots are threatening olga's childs(sunny's) death.

  • it's not the G.W. that's talking, it's JD.

  • yup, hes rite. true that!!!

i wanna play mgs2 again now, after playing msg4

  • It's a confusing part of the game. Everything you think you know, is a lie. The Cornell isn't a human, but a robot. It's all so strange.

  • By "colonel", you mean the AI, not Roy Campbell

  • this game is so fucking great and intelligent

  • BASED ON TRUE FACTS

  • Me (to AI): I ain't no La Li Lu Le...*chuckles* What I meant to say was. I'm NO Patriot.

  • Actually, I think this codec conversation is starting to become true O_o

  • I agree.

  • "Cut the crap!".

    You said it, Raiden

"The AI Colonel should stop speaking gibberish!!"

  • it gave me a headache because they talked for so long -_-

I understood most of it, but I wish I didn't. Hurt my head.

  • Gawd I hated that part of the game....

  • I remember when I first played this game and I got to this bit. It really fucked with my head and I was like, "WTF?" Even now it's still a strange and unexpecting part of the game.

  • One could say all that meaningless junk data just gets in the way, but I'd like to think it makes the course of evolution far less linear.

...Then again, this is a cutscene from a video game, so maybe I shouldn't look too deeply.

    -Tabris

  • They crazy!

    natural selection!?

    BULL SHIT!!

  • No Natural selection may not exist, but it is a belief, what these AIs are is a digital mount rushmore, the morality of the US, all run by AIs, I wouldn't be surprised if this happened within the next ten years

  • I highly doubt that,by the way your pretty damn start.

  • I'm seriously confused, what are they trying telling us? And like the last comment said, is this really a hidden message from Hideo Kojima? What does he trying to tell us?

  • I think AI Campbell was trying to tell us that natural selection is necessary for human evolution, what is going on here is the suppression of data and inaccessible information filtered by The Patriots to further control the world.

  • That's madness! Natural selection can't be necessary if it were than this world would never be able deal with evolution, humans can accept natural selection!

  • I know but what is going on here is like listening to an AI rant about the meaning of life and the true face of information, this is like getting the truth slammed right into your face like a hammer to a nail. Also this states the state the world would be in if too much 'junk' information is accumulation, the world would end by being engulfed in information.

  • what its GW

  • George Washington??

  • GW is, in this case in the game, a faction of the AI hardware known as the Patriots

  • 1:59 - 2:03 sounds like all of the internet to me....

  • no shit so is this right here

  • This is one of the most interesting/true conversations ever. I know as I type this, it is proving what they were saying (junk data).

  • This was deep, very deep... Made me think... Thanks for uploading this. I was looking for a part of just this scene...

  • WTF!!! is this shit!!

  • O_O Woah. Deep as the Marianis Trench.

  • i cant shake off the feeling that this whole idea about secret rulers might be true.

  • what does GW stand for?

  • George Washington

  • what makes this so creepy, is that it will probably really happen; only a matter of time before the U.S. turns into Nazi germany. Indeed, the guestapo and the SS modeled their organization after Hoover's FBI in their methodology. That is why they were so effective.

  • first time i heard this i was so scared, pissed off, and confused in ways i cant even understand. THE PATRIOTS ARE REAL FOLKS!

  • I was 2 I was creeped out this the first time I played it.

  • Okay can someone please explain this to me? Isn't this game an Excersize to make the perfect soldier?:S , Is rose real? Don't you see her in the end ? If she is real why was she talking all weird and like acting like colonel??:S:S:S

  • Rose is real, all right. This Rose is just G.W.'s version of Rose. The game IS an exercise in making a perfect soldier, but it also doubles as The Patriot's exercise for information manipulation. Poor ol' Raiden is the subject of both experiments at once. That's how I remember it, anyway.

  • @KefkaJr

It wasn't an exercise to create the perfect soldier, the patriots existed to control humanity through control of information...

  • this is NOT fiction

  • the colnel looks really weird in some parts of the vid and he says confusing words

  • the virus inputted in Arsenal Gear was messing up the colonel, since he IS actually in Arsenal Gear

  • everything said here is so true

  • What is actually being said here, about people and government is very true. I think this was put here to really teach what MGS storyline shows.

  • What the hell...?

    I'M CONFUSED! RAAAH!(punches wall)

  • i also like how when rose says "you have to beLIEve me" and it was an obvious example of this entire call. makes you almost feel like the word believe was created jsut to fool people. this game gave me the willies the first time i got to this part. and got me hooked on metal gear for life.

  • I use that alot in my blog posts, when I sarcasticly say I beLIEve something someone says. It's pretty clever.

  • same here

  • lol they're talking about youtube comments, for real. rumours of petty issues, misinterpritations, slander, i see that everyday on youtube lol.

  • oh yeah and on he news!

  • I noticed that the end part was cut out. There was more stuff before "I think that's enough talk." I would also like the scene discussing the S3 Simulation and other vital plot twists. Remember, it's all philosophy, no different than other doomsday principles we find in culture.

  • haha. is it? or are you just telling yourself that because you really do refuse to believe in something like this. are you believing in only the "truth"'s that suit you, just like they are talking about in the video?

  • what this is, people, is a classic prosecutor's tactic; take a person's (or in this case the public's) flaws, magnify them to paint the person in the darkest possible manner, all the while conveniently hiding behind loopholes in what we accept as social mores in an effort to manipulate and tyranize. That is what GW, or "the colonel" and the face rose were doing. I wouldn't listen, personally; its all manipulative talk.

  • Of course you wouldn't listen, because you don't believe it to be a "truth" that suits you. Denial is quite a powerful thing to behold, and you are a perfect sample of what exactly they are talking about in the video. you are one of the many people who would like to believe that they make their own decisions based on their "self".

  • I remeber that part where Colonel Starts Revealing that he wasn't real it was weird it showed his skelliton I knew he wasn't real when his signal started breaking up close to the end.

  • Just to clear up what RunawayCactus said: Solid Snake and Liquid are not Big Boss and Eva's sons. They were genetically engineered (as were the Genome Soldiers). Ocelot was the son of The Boss (Big Boss' mentor) and The Sorrow, though taken by The Patriots at birth. Come to think of it, Ocelot's ESP heritage could explain why Liquid can possess him.

    Cheers.

  • I explain you guys:

When Hideo Kojima created this game, What did he created?

    A "context"

There is limited freedom but there is freedom cuz you can fight, jump, beat solidus...etc.

This is not the game this is only a message to tell what Hideo Kojima thinks about life and freedom.

  • To understand all this you need to be very clever and very Philosophic.

This a hided message from Hideo Kojima.

  • HAHA i am scared shitless of his voice and his skull thingy when i played it when i was like 10 and i didnt no about those creepy Codec calls i almost cried and this gives me chills now that im 13 i have to scroll down a bit so i dont see colonels face o.O

  • You're, ummh, a bit YOUNG to be playing MGS, aren't you...? >.>

  • o...m....g. the first time i saw this i was creeped out, goosebumps and everything. wow, still gives me a little chill.... i thought zombies were gonna jump out. lol.

  • same haha i do think its funny tho how he spins all around and stuff haha XD funny stuff hes all like "Yeaaahahhh boyyy im trying out the new camera angles"

  • hahahahaaha. yeah.

  • I never understand this part

Are they be control by what? the patriots?

  • At 30 seconds. Carl Sagen reference FTW! :D

    ehehe... I'm such a geek.

  • wait... if what i think is right when olga says 'IF YOU DIE MY CHILD DIES" and to my knowledge Ocelot and Cambell are sons of The Boss so why did his face turn into a skull?

  • that wasnt the real campbell, it was a part of the AI that shaped itself to look like Campbell. The Colonel exists, look at MGS and MGS4, well, at least the trailers for now :D.

  • yeah.. i guess but why would Kojima put that in there??? well thsi was before MGS3

  • what? ocelot and cambell are sons of the boss?

  • well i know 100% ocelot is but not 100% bout campbell

  • whoa, so that means snake and ocelot are brothers?

  • no to my knowledge snake and eva "had" solid and the rest but the sorrow and the boss had ocelot and ocelot was taken from her and the boss raised big boss as the son she never got to raise

  • oohhh. that explains alot. thanks.

  • Being a flawed person, I feel guilty as the conversation unfolds...

  • @ 4:47 When "Rose" says Of course I do Jack!

You have to beLIEve me! Believe has "LIE" capatalized in it. That means they were lying to him.

  • OMFG nice fucking find. this could actually mean that rose does not exist! Nor does she in mgs4

  • Of course Rose exists, she's in the last cutscene in the game.

  • well, I'm glad I was wrong about Raiden dying.

    oh well sel a vi.

  • "His sin". :p

  • God the way his face changes to a skull is creepy.

  • I just wanted to say, something that really bugged me about this video is that, if you hadn't noticed, a chunk of it is cut out. What the "self" is, and one of my favorite exchanges.

Raiden: I'll decide for myself what to believe and what to pass on!

Colonel: But is that even your own idea?

Rose: Or something Snake told you?

  • It's weird. I didn't exactly get everything at first, but listening to this video again, it's crazy. I didn't notice the chunk cut out until you mentioned it, so I dug up the game to hear the convo in whole. Fortunately I still had a save inside Arsenal. :D

I decided to upload the entire conversation uncut as a video response to this. I hope you don't mind.

  • Awesome. Thank you.

  • You're welcome. :D

  • Watched this for the first time at night in the dark. Scared me shitless.

  • same here when i first got here i quit playin i was like 9 or somthin...yes ive played metal gear since i was like 3 the first one for NES

  • I knew it the Patriots hate Youtube

  • this is a great story for this game. Its had me hooked since i played the first game. This puts it to a new level of greatness. "Solidius the patriots creation or you solidius' creation. Our beloved monsters, enjoy yourselves." that voice is just creepy. ((Snake out))

  • I knew it, The Patriots hate myspace.

  • sheer genius!!! metal gear solid 2 definelty the best, 2001 forever.

  • The truth is, the real American government is closer to being like this than most believe.

  • Pseudo-intellectuals come on down! *Price is Right Music*

  • I'd guess less than 2 percent of MGS2 players actually understood this.

  • I know it's sad

Many people didn't appreciate it for its complex story

    =/

  • bah.

ive played about 30 minutes of mgs (20 of those being portable ops on the psp) and i got this.

    raiden is in a computer.

theres robot computer "patriots" and their creepy and cannot seem to get a decent signal.

  • oh shit! i remember when i saw this the first time. !0_0! no silent hill no resident evil, this codec moment was the best psycological fear that i was felt. I love metal gear for this and all of conversation of morality are very usefull

  • Uh, this has nothing to do with morality...

  • maybe i express bad, IM spanish and i dont speak english very well, i mean that epress the human behavior correctly.

  • 4:29 colonels face..... WTF!!!?

  • I dont get it either...creepy as hell

  • why i am having the sensation that raiden didn't talk to an AI

im having the feeling that he was tallking to the patriots

    what do you think?

  • Absolute memetic control, very scary.

  • its a good idea if you want to look at it in robo logic.

    i have a better idea.

iq levels must be higher than average to reproduce.

    others get adopted kids.

solves dropping intelligence, abortion, and people on youtube.

  • After I saw this, I found myself sititng in my chair like, "....O_____O....."

  • its not creapy cos its metal gear solid lol i played metalear solid 1 and 2 so many times im used to what they have to say. besides if there was ever a creapy bit of metal gear solid 2 it would have to b the random calls u get from the cornell like when he goes on about telling u to turn off your playstation.

  • lol i was playin this last night and it was late and it scared the hell outta me lol

  • What's juxtrapositions of morality??? O_o

  • that would be the examples Colonel and Rose were putting out after that sentence.

    "be nice to others..."

    "But beat out the competition!"

    etc..

  • Mmm, something like a contradiction in terms, a paradox, am i right? Thanks for your help! ^__^

  • "our beloved monsters, enjoy yourselves"

    That scared me to hell

  • when rose said "you have to beLIEve me"that scared the fuck out of me

  • i bet this was a bitch to translate from japanese

  • oh yeah...

  • this part of the game makes you woner if any of these things are real. half of what they're saying is true. it makes think why you think the way you think and makes you remember all the bad shit you've done. and also makes wonder if your life really is a game.

  • actually, its more probable than not that we are just a simulation run by a advanced being.

    creepy, no?

and half true? id say 80%.

the internet allows people to share ideas, most of which are stupid.

  • Holy hell, that's creepy. Like, really creepy.

  • be(LIE)ve in me holy shit lying skanky bitch all girls are hoes and tricks

  • I kinda like it better in this version

It keeps the creepyist parts, without being too long

  • Anm I the only one seeing the skull on Campbell's face?

  • Dude, I think we can all see that!

  • And why the fuck did the colonel keep turning around noone wants to see that dudes back!

  • Jeez, when I first started playing this and when I got to this part, it scared the hell out of me. But I freakin' like it. However, it seems a little shorter than the one in the game.

  • I KNOW!!!! I was just having me a good time playing this game and I got to this part and I was scared to death!

  • jesus...the colonals face freeks me out so much when I first saw it

  • oooh creepy, its like that part in mgs1 when otacon zooms up to tha screen

  • that wasnt creepy, that part was funny!

  • Our beloved monsters....

  • i could've sworn this was longer than 5 minutes and 13 seconds

  • the music in the background,the static,the skeleton faces,the conspyracies...all put together...scare the shit outta me! :(

  • its a very weird moment. Wathcing it again its fantastic political commentry, but at the time it was like: so, theres an omnipotent super being growing underneath the white house? rigggght...Its just a far cry fromthe original MGS. still, looking back its pretty good. great game.

  • it makes perfect sense though, perhaps the most disturbing part of all this is that everything these, AI beings refer to is true, the Internet can be very dangerous as the flow of information becomes too free, but Censorship or "creating context" it's like parents complaining to TV stations or writing letters about things that they let their children watch,

  • it's a common message but given an otherworldly, nearly apocolyptic angle, peraps more potent than any other (albiet few but metal gear fans would see it), that of the responsibility of all people to have a healthy skepticism of information, it's like what they say, "believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear" it's important not to be too closed minded, but at the same time, not too open minded either.

  • dose anyone no where can i find the sound or video

where solid snake says: "Metal Gear?" cos its pretty funny

  • what the hell?!!
