I think this will be somewhere on the English/ Welsh border as he has come off the M53. Notice also some of the old cars you never see now like the Renault 8 at 5.20 ans the Chrysler Alpine at the Queensway Tunnel.

When Channel 4 first aired there was some great dramas: this, Scully, prospects. Now we just get silly drama/docs about overweight people, people with shit dress sense, stupid ailments and Jamie Oliver.....

Billy and Icky. Another great drama from the 80's or late 70's was 'Fox' about a family of 5 brothers, i think. Still hear the music in my head. "I'm going to America, Mum."

The Cortina used to be the easiest car to steal in Britain as the locks were so cheap. It also had the dubious honour of being the IRA's favourite getaway car because of this.

Sorry for being a sad pedant but no Cortina GL on a Y plate had A frame headrests. The one in the prog was a tarted up V/W reg.

Mind you, It was still pretty young to meet its demise...

yes thinking on you are correct they had full headrests no middle part missing and the ghia model had pointed up bits on the edges of the headrest

This crash scene must have cost a few quid to make,a virtually brand new Cortina,a 5 year old Dodge truck,umpteen dozen eggs,a gazebo,and explosives.Great to watch though.

Bloody ace series - but at 1 min 23 secs could never work out why an obvious Gary Numan fan was cast as a bad Scouse Scally ( or Perry Boys as we were called in Manchester back in the early 80's).

When John Carpenter's The Thing was first shown on UK TV, it gots loads of complaints because the F word was cut from it. Even though ITV didn't mind showing a guy get his head bitten off! Amazing what folks complain about, and what gets censored.

I think so. It was about a boy who runs away and meets a group of punks. (The trashy This Is England sort of copied it.) Gary Holton gets killed in a stolen car, when he crashes it. It was directed by Steven Frears, and kicked up a right stink at the time. Ring any bells?

Bought the DVD,watched it loads of times,seen it first time it showed back in the eighties.My old man had a cortina 2.3gls back in the day,went like a rocket.Nice 1 smudger,you beet me to it,was gonna post some clips from the dvd.
