@alfredthegreatestuk You like what you like and I like what I like, world keeps on spinning. But it is totally bankrupt and ignorant to say that this is "just a racket"
at 7:00 till the end, i cant believe thats trumpet. I thought it was hendrix wailin. Freakin amazing! nobody ive heard has ever played trumpet like that
I love the transition starting at 2:35 - Mike Henderson's bass groove at 2:45 is gangster! I always wondered why Teo Macero switched to an audience recording for Conrad Roberts's narration and everything after.
@SouthMiamiHeights I think Miles or maybe even Teo thought that last bit was so intense and in the money that they wanted to include it. I couldn't find that particular segment on the Cellar Door sessions box set (maybe I'm just forgetting), so I'm betting Miles remembered that last bit (it was the end of a set or near one) and wanted to use it, and found that only a back-up audience tape was available...Who knows.
dejohnette makes the tension mount like hitchock up in this shh. so much suspense in those drums makes my teeth start to grind. and there hasnt been a an alto player wrung that mich gutbucket squalwk out that horn since bartz and maybe only cannonball before him. 'can the ocean be described? /fathomless music'/ i lve tomorrow'. at 7:10 miles proves why he's the only trumpet player you ever want to hear freestyle on some funk--because he plays like a conguero and not a bugler. mmmph.

I do not understand ... at 7:10 begins John McLaughlinìs solo and I cannot hear any sound of trumpet! What do you mean exactly?
This is really nice but the voice at 7mins is a fuckin buzzkill.

I agree with south miami. They probably ran out of tape and someone recorded it on a hand held tape recorder.

The last three minutes of this track are always going to be my favourite! Its pure funky abstract goo that is just being jammed out of the musos.
I always wish it would groove on for longer!
