  • Great video, the first part sounds allot like alternating triplets....

  • is that a Brady snare? Excellent video/lesson JC :D

  • @kikz321 It is. And thanks :)

  • I play punk, rock & a little bit of metal but i'm inspired to play gospel by Aaron Spears and a fellow youtuber named kennethb214.

I know it's rediculous that a punk drummer is trying to learn gospel but wth.

IMO, it seems VERY difficult for me to learn becuz i play punk but i'll give it a try :)

  • The left hand is always on the e's and the ass :P

  • I love this a lot, thanks for sharing Joe

  • @calvintrainer1212 Thanks :) I'm working on a new SoloWorkshop dealing with a Chris Coleman solo that's full of AMAZING gospel style chops. Subscribe to see when it's available. Merry Christmas.

  • Cheers to you for taking the time to explain and coaching some of the the most exciting drum parts and grooves around. Its no small feat to transcribe Vinnie or any of these monsters. I use to do it witch trying to slow down a cassette tape and sit for hours charting and lifting..but I somehow figured it out...lol

  • @pfefftube I have to tell you that I enjoy watching your tutorials on here. You explain things so well and you execute them just as good.Your not afraid to show that you are human and that everyone struggles here and there.

  • @AudioVisualOneGuy Thanks :) It's a labour of love.

  • Excellent tutorial, Joe. Much enjoyed.

  • @samthedrums Thanks :)

  • you sir are too kind..thank you!

  • lol

  • great vid. have you checked out some teddy campbell stuff. his the drummer for american idol and is VERY good gospel drummer.

  • @Brok3nCarlos Thanks. I'd seen his performance on Modern Drummer Festival a few years back. Just took another look. Some really nice things that I might make videos of soon.

  • skype lessons sounds good, how would i sign up for these or get them????? would be awesome. :) MrG

  • @MrGregles If you want to arrange a skype lesson just send me an email through my website (link in the video description) and we'll try and arrange a mutually convenient time.

  • Again an inspiring lesson Joe!

As for the Pete Ray Biggin video, I also dig the lick at 5:35 with the right hand tom combination and how he recovers from a small hiccup at 5:48 with a dazzling musical fill. Awesome!

  • joe, im a gold pass subscriber to your site, and I can't get enough of your lessons mate, great stuff !! when we gonna see new content on ur site ? :D

  • @Cring0r Thanks :) I've been focusing on the YouTube stuff for a while. Haven't decided what the next MasterClass lesson should be yet. I've already covered a lot of ground in those. Have you any requests?

  • @pfefftube I personally would love to see some more content on expanding your vocabulary on the drumset, and phrasing, Also are you still doing skype lessons ?

  • @Cring0r I'll keep that in mind. Yes, I'm still doing skype lessons. If you want to arrange one just send me an email via my website and we can arrange a time.

  • Great Lesson Joe!! Some of the best tutorials on Youtube!!

  • @bobbystockerdrums

    Agreed!

  • The link to the pete ray biggins video doesn't work

  • @kasimon try it now

  • @pfefftube works, thanks!

  • Brilliant lesson again Joe! Thanks alot. Can we have a link to the Pete Ray Biggin video please?

  • @SamCDrums I added it to the description. Do a youtube search for "Pete Ray Biggin Blue Peter" to see how good he was when he was 13! I remember watching that when it was on TV. I wonder what the other two are doing these days :)

  • is your bassdrum mic'd? if not how is it tuned /muffled?

  • @allmetaliswelcome Yes it is. I usually use a Shure Beta52 but at the moment it's got an Audix D6 in it. There's a duster folded up inside - that's all. It just takes the beach bally ring out of the sound. The batter head is a Remo PS3 tuned pretty loose. The resonant head is an Embony ambassador with a hole tuned a a bit tighter.
