This game didnt really do anything first, maybe apart from the replay feature anyway as its more or less the same game as the one on die hard trilogy.

I needs my physics to be special too :> Halo 1 being a good example- best physics of the Halo series. But back to Driver. One of the classics from my teen years. Match the physics with the challenge of some of the levels ( President's Run ), & we have a recipe for awesome beans. And of course the 70's theme sticks out in my memory.. And the rainy levels. ^_^

This was the game that started it all. I rember playing it as a demo, and that started my obsesion with freeroming games. I used to think that the graphics were brilliant. however onb reflection what was I thinking. But then I thought the same about gta san andrease when playing it on ps2 recently after playing gta4 on ps3. However driver 2 was by far the best driver game. and since then driver games have been shit, trying to hard to copy gta.

this was one of the first 3d roam around not the first. yes it did come before gta 3 and if people think gta 3 came out befor driver they are stupid. but they were working on gta 3 (creating it) before driver came out but development on driver started befor gta 3. the first free 3D roam around game was on an early computer. but driver was the first offical 3d roam around game that looked real and best fit to a virtural city released on a home video game console.

Dude, loved the video, this game is a fucking classic. I played this shit when I was 10 years old and didn't even attempt the missions for 2 years because I couldn't get past the training parking garage. So I spent years playing that Take a Ride mode and to this day it holds the test of time.  I just bought it again recently and still play it when I get bored of some of my Xbox 360 games. Epic review man, keep it up!

This and Driver 2 were both way better than GTA back in the day, hands down. And Driver 2, which is comparable to GTA III, came out a year earlier. So not only is it better by way of gameplay but it came out earlier as well. After Driv3r, things kinda went downhill, but I have high hopes for the latest and greatest installment in the series.

I'm also playing this right now on an emulator. Nostalgia is so awesome.

Conspiracy theorists have been trashing Driver for years, but the fact is that Driver and its sequel were the first games to realize this style of game. Grand Theft Auto came out before it, but that was a top down 2D game, and that's a far cry from what Driver did.

So Grand Theft Auto really resembled what Driver did. It just expanded on it.

Yeah Midtown Madness is a much more fun game. I live Driver for the chases but Midtown Madness is a really fun arcadish racer.
