To the poster below... the song "Fighting Illini in Pasadena" was written and produced by Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets after Illinois reached the Rose Bowl in 1984. They were Big 10 champions that year. So, in other words, it's an old song.

I agree USC is WAYYY better than IL but I'm a IL fan and I think IL had every right to be a the Rose Bowl. They went 2-9 last year and then go 8-4, with one of those wins being #1 Ohio State? I say with high confidence, if they chose Michigan over IL same thing would've happened. And you can't really blame the turnovers, yeah their a HUGE deal, but against USC? Idk. I think USC could've beat LSU in the BCS. Only thing that held USC back were those injuries. So that's my opinion.

I was cheering for Illinois the whole time. I was watching "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" but turned to the Rose Bowl at every commercial break. It was a bummer that you lost, but at least you improved alot from when Penn State beat you 63-10 (in a game that could have easily been 112-3 if not for the kindness of Joe Paterno, Penn State led 56-3 at halftime). Ron Zook actually managed to save a football program that practically fell apart in 2005.

This song is from 84 when we won the Big Ten in 83.  The song is called Fighting Illini in Pasadena by Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets
