  • try lcd scrub... a handy app for troubleshooting and fixing this issue.

  • i got this news from mac forum.

Numerous owners of brand new 17-inch MacBook Pro are complaining that their video cards or perhaps notebooks are failing. The new $2,799 MacBook, which was debuted in January at Macworld, features both GeForce 9600M and GeForce 9400M mobile graphics cards from NVIDIA. Owners are now reporting that their laptops have started to show random green lines, artifacts on the display, blank screens and a certain symptom for failing video card.

  • You have no idea what you're talking about.

    You fucking cunt.

  • I had this problem on my W85 G4 17" I took the keyboard off and found that the cable that goes to the monitor seems to make a better connection if it is NOT seated properly the way it seems like it should be but slightly on the diagonal. You have to power up the computer with the keyboard temporarily hooked up and then once you get it booted take the keyboard back off and start to wiggle the video cable. No lines for 3 months so far!

  • I HAVE THE SAME FUCKING PROBLEM!!! Thought i was only one. They started happening about 5 months ago.

  • my compaq presario M2000 has the same Fking problem 20 dead lines >:(

  • are they colored lines or just black??

    Mac problem is colored.

  • I spent 1600€ for nothing..just to get 5 vertical lines on my screen. This is not acceptable. How can apple sell such a crappy product. After the warranty year expired 5 lines appeared!! And there's nothing i can do

  • There's no way I'm paying $1000 to repair my Powerbooks display. I've treated it like a baby. I'd rather buy a PC !

  • Have same problem on 17" iMac core duo, a pink line appeared 2 days ago. I feel the pain.

  • Same pixel line problem. Apple sucks !!!

  • APPLE.... SHAME ON YOU!!!

I have the same problem with my 2300 Euro PowerBook G4 17"... The old High-End-Model! After 2 years it´s TRASH!!! I´m fed up, using a notebook with now 10 lines... Dell fix the problem for their customers... And Apple???? SHAME!!!!!

  • same here.. anyone had it fixed not under applecare? $?

  • *sigh*

I have the same problem. :(

  • unfortunately... it's sad :-(

and yeah, my powerbook is listed on the defect database :-)

    one day... one day...

  • Defect mainly affectS Powerbook 17" screens with serial numbers starting W85 from an Apple Shanghai factory early 2005.

DELL has the same defects in a number of models with screens made at the same time. However, DELL recognizes the defects and pays for the replacement and thus is taking their responsibility, unlike Apple. There are more quality problems with Apple Powerbooks. SHAME ON APPLE!

  • i have exactly the same problem, even the same coloured yellow line in the same place as you. you have prob seen it but go to the bridget riley powerbook site for hundreds of other cases

  • dropped it off on wednesday. it was delivered to my office on monday. new lcd and cable.

  • i had the same vertical line problem. the visa card i used to purchase my PB extended my apple warranty by another year. so apple repaired the lcd and visa paid the bill under their extended warranty program. hope that can help others.

  • peaser1, how long did it take apple to repair your display?

  • my computer has one now. hope it doesnt spread. nice going apple.

  • apple sux, but ms sux more o,O
