  • You need a booklight for the Kindle. I find the screen quite dark and if you're in a dim room it seems even darker. A book light is a must I'd say.

  • "/ here’s an interesting contradiction a YouTuber giving advice to aspiring writers and a glowing review of the Amazon Kindle ....lol a little paraphrasing 'the ink on the screen is amazing it's just like the ink on a page!' It saddens me so much that Britain has only one book shop chain left on the High Street and all the while Amazon e books spread the world like a virus. But I think it will come full circle and people will collect books again there's nothing like a bookshelf of old friends:)

  • @andschannll I'm not quite sure why you think it's contradictory of me to recommend the Kindle to aspiring writers. I love real books as much as anyone. I still buy books, but I use my Kindle mainly to collect those that are offered for free (last week I downloaded five books about the craft of writing while they were free for a limited time). To pretend that ebooks don't exist does writers more harm than good. The Kindle is a great addition to a paper library, not a total replacement.

  • I`ve just read Daisychains of silence on kindle by Catherine MacLoed,I think it`s very good, would like to know what you think.

    J.

  • @colliecover Haven't read that one, so I can't comment :)

  • downloaded... not uploded

  • Hi! I just ordered a kindle and it should be coming in about 5 days...I am taking it travling with me ( I am going to Portland, Oregon to go see a concert) would you recomend me to bring it? I will be in the car for a while and usually when I read in the car my eyes start to hurt...do you think that will happen with the kindle?

  • @RandomPeaceGirlRocks I don't find that the Kindle hurts my eyes at all. There's no backlight to strain your eyes like on a computer, so it shouldn't hurt your eyes any more than reading a paper book. Enjoy your trip!

  • @writeitsideways Thank you :) So what kind of books do you reccomend on your kindle and do you think that you read faster on the kindle vs. the hardback book?

  • @RandomPeaceGirlRocks To be honest, I haven't paid for any ebooks yet because I'm still working my way through all of the free ones! The classics are always good (and free). It's possible to read a little faster on the Kindle because you can increase the font, but I wouldn't say I read a whole lot faster on it.

  • @writeitsideways Oh cool :) I think I am going to start on the classics too just because they are such great books and better yet they are free :) Thank you so mcuh for sharing your information with me that is so nice! :) So I just have one more question...Is there like a kindle store where you download your books or to you get your books off of amazon?

  • @RandomPeaceGirlRocks Try searching for Amazon's "limited time offers" or search for classics by name to see if they're free on Amazon. If they're not free on Amazon, you can still get them from other places like Project Gutenberg or ManyBooks. Hope this helps!

  • if any of you are debating about the kindle just get it its freaking awesome. i got the k3 with wifi+ 3g only because i dont have wifi in my home c: i got mine last week and i just cant put it dwn. $139 wifi only or $189 wifi +3g

  • great review, though I'd love to see some close view of the screen, to see how text and letters look like from the point of view. still, a great review. repped.

  • Good review. You are very beautiful!.

  • very nice review thank you!

  • @writeitsideways thanks for all your help, I can't wait to buy my own

  • How are pdf files uploaded? Is there some kind of usb port for your computer?

  • @jubjub974 Yes, you just plug the Kindle into your computer with a cable that's provided with it, then transfer the files across.

  • my kindle3 3g does not have page numbers the only numbers it has don't make any sense to me like 1928-24 are the numbers i had when i started reading today could you please help

  • @number1airsoftsniper I don't know why the numbers are like that, but it's the same on mine. I think it's because the pages that show up on your Kindle aren't a whole page of the book, so the page numbers need to be broken down in to 3 or 4 parts.

  • @number1airsoftsniper See if you have the latest software version Googling kindle+software+updates. Some books are supported to display pages, even those not bought, but some not. If don't, what you see are "locations", each one corresponding to 128kb of text; not human-friendly, but easily localizable by anyone, using any font size.

  • How is the battery?

    Does it last long?

    Is it fast to recharge?

  • @natasc The battery probably lasts me at least a month. It takes several hours to recharge, but once done it's really good. Even better if you turn off the WiFi connection when you don't need it.

  • @writeitsideways Thanks! That's really exceptional time for a battery! Good because I do read a lot! =]

  • was there a wifi one without the special offers? I have the wifi one with special offers, same one as you. Is it the third model?

  • @BranmasterG Sorry, not sure what you mean. This is the third model (Kindle 3), Wi-Fi only. Special offers like limited time offers from Amazon are available for all Kindle models, though.

  • I've been reading reviews and trying out the kindle on my windows phone... on the windows phone I can actually flip back and forth really very quickly... but there is a major ---cons--- I need a larger screen.... and my windows phone doesn't play the audio version when I need it.... also... there is backlight... I'm sure I will need glasses eventually.... maybe. Anyway, thank you for the great review...

  • I love your voice and style. you have to become a TV host.Good luck with more reviews.

  • @samansepehr TV host? I'll have to remember that one! Thanks :)

  • I have it! The cover too.

  • Great review!

  • Lol I love the light on the hardcover leather case as well! And the battery life.

  • I want to see a review comparing this to the new nook (same improved contrast e-ink and 2 month battery life.

From my own research, the nook has a smaller and thinner footprint and a touch screen. Also, it can open "epub" public library books.

The Kindle's biggest turn on I think is that it can browse the web...the nook cannot.

  • @smurfalongwithme Ha ha, thank you :) I'll have to do some more review soon, but I hate being on camera!

  • I WANT THIS :(

  • yess.. good presentation, great explanation. I think this product is my next ebook reader.

  • if you drop it, won't the kindle prongs that hole the case to it just break lol

  • @ripjohnnyc Uh, hopefully not! The prongs are on the case, not on the Kindle, so if you did break the prongs, at least the Kindle itself would be fine.

  • @writeitsideways your right, still a broken 60$ case lol

  • is it possible to turn multiple pages rather than click, Menu, Go to, etc?

  • @JackBauer83 I don't think so. As far as I know, the Go To option is all you have.

  • does kindle allow piracy?? i mean can i download books for free from othersites and then put it on kindle to read it... ??

    thanks..!!

  • @9322002898 I think there is some way to convert files from other eReaders to a file that will work on Kindle, but I'm not sure about the particulars.

  • @9322002898 Check out a program called Calibre run with a plugin called DeDRM. Note: I only suggest using this if you already bought the book but it doesn't work with your Kindle because of the DRM.

  • @9322002898 Piracy is baddddd. With that said, if you already own -or have in your possession- ebooks of various formats there's a free program called calibre that lets you manage your ebooks (and covert them to various formats) that works like a charm. I used it to make my kindle purchases accessible on the ibooks app and vice-versa.

  • @9322002898 If you use PDF-Files, it does.

  • I am getting a kindle tomorow. ur video helped thanks!

  • Good easy going review. Thanks.

  • This is the most helpufl review I've seen so far! It's simple, descriptive and affirms the solid reasons for getting a Kindle 3. Very reassuring since I just bought a Kindle 3 which has yet to come in the mail! : )

  • Great review!

  • great video!!

  • great review!
