Lakey is good if you want to scream but not much more-impossible to play ppp on it-maybe ok for lead alto big band work-try a Runyon Quantum w/spoiler definitely the loudest mpc. I've tried-even the trumpet players look scared! But for real tone try the Weinberg Fat Bore Emanon-rich fat sound with enough edge to cut through-works great on New Saxes-Selmer ref.54 models as it takes some of the sharpness away--also works good on Vintage horns ie.Martins/ Conns helps with intonation problems
a LAKEY is a lively mouthpiece with high shelved off chamber and seems to be well liked by some of our clients. if you buy one you should get it on 7 days apro. against payment. the plastic version is fierce and certainly announces its in the house! i prefer the metal. but the sound on all of them is direct and not full of nuance characteristics. for me --its not what you say but the way that you say it that counts. anton
would you recommend me buying a claude lakey. i have already done all the reading and studying.i played on a berg larsen but the gossip about the lakey is just too good to miss out on

What do you think of a Yanagisawa 7 Metal? Is there any reeds that can make this mouthpiece sound bright. The best way I can describe what i mean is to make the sax sing!? for example similar to Kirk Whalum and Gerald Albrights tones!
How can I learn to reface mouthpieces? is there a college.
