Before Vietnam was Dai Viet and was ruled by China. Khmer Empire ruled SEA when Thai and Lao still lived in Nan Chao. Thailand was just created a few years ago while Cambodia was created over 2000 years ago. Many Khmer temples in Thailand but nothing Thai in Cambodia, Thai and Lao came to live in Khmer land when the Mongol invading their land and they just copied Khmer culture from Khmer people.
