not. it just uses the phone's infrareds. obviously, it doesn't work like a really TV control.

@ mimmofusco, which version of the 8GB do you have? If it's the version 4 NAM, The remote will not work as version 4 lost the IR port.

when you select a device like a tv some brands actually put in it's original remote, the model or the serial number of the "band" which that tv uses with it's remote, it appears in the backside of the remote or in the slot of the batteries, that number is the one which you must look for in the Ir Remote of your phone (sorry about my english, i'm from uruguay) example when you add a philips tv as a device appears a lot of numbers or letters or both(serial),
