  • Go to my channel if you want to watch the first complete volume 1 parts.

  • Is there a DVD set that's as good at teaching lighting technique as HCW does for vfx and camera directing?

    Thanks:)

  • @dojunwai actually I think they were talking about doing a lighting course at one point or another and decided to drop it. Other than that I'm not sure where you'd find something as really and completely thorough as the rest of their stuff.

  • Hi I Have the first DVD set a few years now and it is the great.. I would agree with you review. I would have liked if the course had covered fast moving scenes, chases, following fast moving subjcts with a camera. But I guess as I am making a film like that now (Chase scenes) I find it hard to get everything I need from it. However since I took the course the trailer we won a trailer contest in London and Kentucky thanks to this course. Best of luck with the feature!

  • The narration is perfectly passable.. not difficult to follow at all :P Wasn't fair to say in a review that the voice over is bad but rather that you personally found it boring.. My only problem with this [blocking] series that they keep it clean for the whole series until the end of the final dvd where they decide to blaspheme.. They need to be less offensive on a widely used instructional video. P.S. How many blocking guides have you read in order to be able to gauge how superior this one is?

  • @RadiantStudios

I actually about the narration. These tutorials are great the but guy makes unnaturally long paused between every sentence with a dull monotone voice. It makes it obvious that he's reading off a piece of paper. But I still would highly recommend this training series.

  • Nice info, thanks a lot!

  • I have the #1 it is really AWSOME, Thank man for this tutorias!, I found with them you can do a GREAT movie like 85% like great hollywood features with your tips and low budget.

  • Do you need a great camera for these methods to work for you?

  • Exactly the opposite! That's the fantastic thing about the training - it's all about moving the camera. I wish I could have explained more about what I meant by production value -- but let me clarify.

A $4,000 camera on a tripod captures a pretty good image on its own. But the nice thing about these DVDs is for MUCH less than $4000, you can learn simple but complex-looking camera moves (with ANY camera) that screams "production value" far over the value of that expensive camera.

  • @filmtipsandtutorials Thanks a lot, I am about your age and I wish I was as educated about filiming and directing. I truly envy that you guys are making a full feature film :D

  • There's less to envy than you think. ;)

We sometimes get heat from people because of the scale and price we work on -- but the truth is we started out small and practiced, practiced, practiced.

If you work on your people skills and can prove yourself as a worthy client and artist, then things start to go your way. I suppose we're lucky - but it's not as impossible as a lot of people think.

Start with small jobs around your neighborhood - and then work your way up the ladder.

  • Thanks Jared. I love all of these videos. I feel right @ home because I like all of that techy stuff :) Although I'm a girl. haha. I liked this.

  • Cool
