This happens because you hited a plataform and acording to the programing of the game you freeze and the the animati starts up.On the SNES you actualy stay on the platform going around on it.

About a year ago, this happened to me in Fire-Ball Frenzy, the first level of Mekanos. It's when you get to the part where the two Karbine (owls) shoot fire at you and you have to run back and forth on a small platform.
