@ArtistryBa In 3DSMax 2009-2012 (and possibly earlier, but these are the versions I've used) the wireframe option is a check box on the Shader Basic Parameters rollout for the Standard material.
Better solution: Use a composite material. For Base material, put a "opaque" material, and on the first layer, put a wireframe material. It doesn't work with the Scanline renderer thought , but works fine with Mental Ray.
If a whole scene must be wireframe rendered, in the "Processing" tab of the Render Setup dialog (Mental ray), enable "Material Override" and drag your composite material into the slot, so everything will be wireframe while keeping the original material on the objects
..Umm you do know you can render the wireframe of a mesh using the options when you press F10 to Render. Also, if you RIGHT CLICK on the 'persepective' word, you can use ACTIVESHADE to render such a view as well.
LTF85199: Maya does that quite wonderfully actually using curves/surfaces.
@Tiviat There's another quick method with Mental ray. Press F10, Set the Renderer to Mental Ray. In the material editor, select a material and change the type to "composite" Set one material layer to a shaded look and set another material layer to the wire shader. Put the material on the model and render.
Does anybody know if it is possible to model an object using some splines and arranging it like the wire frame on object and some way convert it into a a poly shape? does anyone understand what i am talking about? It is kind of like lofting but more complex, does 3ds max have a feature for this?
can anyone help me?? ,im thinking of advancing my cad skills, I want to either learn to use 3ds Max or Rhinoceros, anyone give me any advice on which one to learn and why??? because I cant make my mind up!
hey like the video. just wondering if i wanted to, where i could buy 3ds max, like if it had to be bought online or not. And around how much it would cost.
PLEASE Help me how to customize the menu w/c appears when you right click a selected object i dont know what is it called but please help me just to show the Extrude and editmesh when i right click after creating a line
np fella if you need to nkow anyhing else let me know (a quick tip with this tutorial....i forgot to mention it only works if the pivot is directly centre to the object)
Well, I did a test but I can't connect to my web to post the result... Anyway: Use Shell instead of push. Select Inside face. Delete mesh. Seems to work a charm. I moved the pivot way outside a weird mesh before I started the shell, just in case.
very helpful even to this day, thanks! :D

THANK U SOO MUCH....
I saw a couple of tutorials about that.. but couldnt get it work.
Both instructors never mentioned I had to be in Mental Ray...maybe they thought it was a given, but Im not that knowledgeable yet.

i get lost in this tutorial i get lost when you open the window 1:04 in the vidoe can you tell me what that is and how to open it
thekingoftown24 2 years ago
The window at 1:04 is the scene object window which shows all of the objects with any scene press H to view this window.
greeney2k1 2 years ago
But this helps if you only want one object in wireframe instead of the entire scene.
