  • Is it just me or did you use a capture device to do this kind?

  • Yogurt is alive! ;P

  • Been stuck in my head for over 20 years now.

  • I used to love the video that this song came from... *sigh* Memory lane is a fun stroll! This song popped into my head the other day and I've been singing slightly wrong lyrics ever since. I did not expect to find this online, but I'm so glad I did! :-D

  • Another Sesame Street fave! Very singable!

  • This song has been stuck in my head at least once every couple months since I saw it as a kid. Of course I only knew the chorus. Thank you for posting so at least now I can sing it and not have to hum the lyrics i dont know :) :)

  • Goood Lawwwwwd. It's been exactly 28 years since I've seen this! Wonderful! Thanks for adding!

  • I think I've had this stuck in my head since 1980. Now I can indulge!

  • I'm ali-i-i-i-ive!!!!!

  • @SteveBrandon: It is my Quest to find this Song online. It's been REAL tough. The good Thing is that SO many Others are looking for it, too. Maybe we'll get lucky! :)

  • Anyone else remember the other other "Alive" song from SESAME STREET, the one with the animated birds (who looked kind of like Heckle and Jeckle) who sang (quoting from memory): "The stones on the street, they don't need to eat. They don't breathe, they don't grow, they don't sleep, they don't know what it is, what it is to be alive!"? It doesn't seem to be anywhere on Youtube.

  • @SteveBrandon was trying to find this video myself and I couldn't

  • @SteveBrandon

thats exactly what i was looking for when i searched. Doesnt seem to be anywhere

  • OMG this was one of my favorites back in the day! So glad I can see this again!

  • Look at their eyes.. they're all on crack..lol

  • Plants don't breathe or eat. They have similar processes though. lol

  • om i remember this one! i remember noticing how much more rockin it was than the usual fare lol...

  • Where would we be without the internet. Who did chrissys voice??

  • @reaper7700 chris cerf I think. watch Rebel L, I love his voice.

  • Chris Cerf, a very talented man who also writes and sings "Honk Around the Clock". I hope I've helped you with the answer.

  • this is Gina's 2nd fav group in the Seseme Street Muppets

  • alive but not living

  • What's the song this is based on? I know I heard but the name escapes me.

  • i remember this like it was yesterday. happy b-day sesame street.

  • This could also be a parody of the song "So Alive" By POD, I donno.....

  • This clip is WAYYY too old to be a parody of "Alive" by POD... O_O

  • Seriously, Zoe with her "pet rock, Rocko" should see this. She'd be devastated to know that "Rocko" is not ali-i-i-ve. XD

  • This song helps meet high school life science requirements. If it eats, breathes or grows it is alive. New scientists might expand that to 7 basic requirements but I like SS better.

  • And I thought I knew ALL the old-school Sesame Street! Still laughing out loud... heard of it; never saw it before. :) Did you notice how they breathe OUT after they say "breathe in" and IN after they say "breathe out"? :D I agree... yay for the old SS; boo/hiss for all the new-- especially whiny baby Elmo that took over everything in a sappy commercial attempt to replace all the quality programming-- like my favorite Kermie!

  • um about breathin out after saying in and vice versa, thats cuz altho its hard to hear it, they actually do breath in first, then say in, then breath out, then say out... lol way too much time on my hands sry

  • Good catch, mfs. Replayed it a few times and now I hear it, too. :-)

An ice cream cone's not alive... but then a FROG is alive! :D Can't ya hear us BREATHE it, babeh?

  • has anyone realize little crissy is sopose to be little richie lol realy cheack it lol

  • I tried telling my friends about this video and they all thought I was crazy.

I've had this stuck in my head since I was 7 and I'm 23 now!!! haha Ohhh man, I love who uploaded this. Totally facebook linked this...

    <3

  • Ha ha ha, I haven't heard this song in like 16 years, and I still remember it! I think I even still have this tape!

  • the boy singing with the yellow scares me sometimes

  • hahaha love this song

  • I'm 29, and more than 20 years after seeing it the first time i still remember this song.

  • you know, i'm 24 and sometimes i still sing this song in the shower, lol.

  • You too? I'm 31 and I sing every once in awhile. I do a pretty mean Little Chrissy impression.

  • Is that buster or fred

  • An ice cream cone's not alive?! OMG-G-G!

  • @corange1 oh yes an ice cream cone is alive.

  • OK setting aside the living beings being on drugs.....how did they get a ROCK, a CLOCK, a TELEPHONE, and and ICE CREAM CONE to move that fast? I think there might have been some speed in there too!

  • This is a super song! I don't understand why those twins though are teaching lamaze during this song.

  • you 'breathe' cause your alive, lol!

  • oh you're ALI yi yi yi yive :)

  • Wow, almost 20 years since I've seen this! I think they're more entertaining now than when I was a kid. I can't stop laughing!

  • A frog on steroids, a bunny on cocaine? , A horse on marijuna?! What kind of video is this?!!

  • Well...i'm 42!!!

Age ain't nothing but a number! Realise that & nothing else matters! Tom & Jerry rule too! (Fred Quimby era of course)

    This is fun!!!! :)

  • A bunny on cracked cocaine, that is just........ Messed up. Seriously.

  • me too!

  • is this Chris Cerf or Jim singing? it's been so long I can't remember...

  • Many times,, ashie20, they are pre-recorded songs, so it could be the ones you mentioned.

  • fair enough. I think it's Chris Cerf...doesn't sound as much like Jim as I first thought...but who knows...lol

  • Me too ashie20, I'm kind of puzzled too. I don't remember that because I'm now 15 and I remember watching this when I was about 6 (9 years ago), but my thinking is this is Jim Henson.

  • it's been a bit longer for me...I was 6- 17 years ago...I don't wanna turn 23! it means I'm like ofically an adult...boo to that!

  • I'm sorry you feel that way ashie20. It certainly sucks for me to be 15. 16 comes along in about 6 1/2 months, poor me. It certainly stinks for me. Junior year, here it comes. boo hoo!

  • haha!!! my science teacher showed this to us!!! XD loveit!!!

  • This was my joint back in the day!!! Sesame street was the shiznit!

  • The was a JAM!!!!! I still remember it from my childhood.

  • I could've sworn at some point he sings that a carrot's not alive. Did they cut that because they realized that a carrot is, in fact, alive?

  • I don' think so; it would have to rhyme with something else that isn't alive. Ferret? No. Parrot? No. Demerit? ...Maybe, but how do you show a demerit sliding by in puppet form?

  • It's difficult but I think they pulled it off for sweeps week.

  • My absolute favorite Sesame Street music video ever!!!!!!

  • they eat and breathe and grow oOoh!!!! lol, luv it...that bunny looks like hes on crack tho

  • How do you figure ishiho?

  • That's higher than that of some people I know.

  • LOL me too they dont even come close to that

  • HUH?

  • classic!!!

I was with friends and someone mentioned something about breathing (dont remember the details lol) --I started singing this song. My friends didnt know what I was singing. LOL

  • ohhhhhhh the memories!

  • I sang this song when I taught science to my second graders. I had more fun then they did!

  • omg, thats funny. hah. they probably think you're the "weird teacher". we all had one.

  • Most of those shows fucked up after Henson died. I know Disney has been screwed up since 2000. Must be the millenium that did it, right?

  • This was one of my favorites! HUH breathe in HA breathe out.....hahaha

  • I love this! My name is Chrissy and my mom used to always call me little Chrissy and the alphabets, still does from time to time, haha. Sesame street was so cool back in the day.

  • I remember seeing this on tv. So awesome! I love Chrissy and the Alphabeats! Chrissy is rockin out!

  • Hahaha...classic

  • um...... breathe in...ahhhhh.. breathe out, my fav line, i luv jim henson!

  • oh MAN !! this is one of my favorite ones. they dont do them like they used to! this and the cows walking new way to walk. I LOVE IT! thank you!

  • Chrissy is also the name of the coolest girl I have ever known!!

  • Chrissy is the man!

  • I love the rabbit's sideways head movement/groove!

    Rockin'

  • lmao

  • I love Christopher Cerf, but not the character of Little Chrissy. When I was a wee little kid, I couldn't stand to look at the bloated blue crap with a giant pile of stringy yellow hair. I always thought he was supposed to be Sesame Street's token "special" person. He always looked like he had down syndrome to me.

  • If you saw the EXIT one, where he's wandering around the room screaming, Help! How do I get outta here?? when the door's right behind him your suspicions would be confirmed.

  • Yeah, I always thought Little Chrissie was based after someone who was mentally challenged. I felt that way since I was a little kid. It's his appearance. Doesn't he look like he has down's syndrome? I'm not making fun of anyone with down's syndrome at all, I'm just saying Chrissy looks like a muppet that has it.

  • I never really thought of Chrissy as having Down's. He's just a Muppet-guy who isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Someone who can not find the door right behind him, who isn't sure about what's alive? But I do like the idiotic way he jumps around!

  • @ElectricShark YES!!!! I totally got that vibe too.

  • @milofire,

Most people with down syndrome are super friendly and super cute.

But there's always that token one who isn't. Like Chris Burke from Life's Goes On.

Little Chrissie looks like an ugly puppet with down's syndrome.

And I can't stand the frantic movements.

  • A dead person isn't alive.

    The twins are kinda scary.

  • one of the jammin-est sesame street songs, rock on...and the litte doggie is so cute! :)

  • "An ice cream cone's not alive." For some reason that made me laugh. Maybe because it's 3:30 AM.

  • lol!

  • I actually remember learning from this one, so I must've been really REALLY young. I think I was a little bummed out that my dolls weren't alive because they didn't fit the breathe/eat/grow criteria.

  • Whenever I see the lead singer's hair I think about taco's with shredded cheese!!

  • Ah, but a taco's not alive! Niether is cheese!

  • Ha Ha it is when your in france eating maggot cheese

  • Interesting take on that.

  • i also totally thought of nothing but shredded cheddar cheese whenever i saw that guy lol

  • LOL!!!!!

  • QFT!!!!!

    Absolutely

  • "QFT"? You from the Colboards?

  • Alive and rocking!

  • The Alphabeets have 50's hair!

  • LMAO thanks for posting this!!!! Close your eyes and listen to this its even funnier listening to the singer LOLLLLL

  • Uuuhhh breathe in...aahhhhh breathe out...uuuhhh breathe in....aahhhh breathe out....I love this!!! Brings back so many memories!

  • Ha! Did Peter Jackson model himself on the blue leadsinger with the huge hair and glasses?

  • (inhales)...breathe in (exhales) breathe out...lol

  • I loved this song, but Data would disagree on the credentials for being alive :P

  • it seems like they were huffin' and puffin' marijauna!! (lol)..... just jokin'!! this is the best sesame street song ever!!!

  • I don't recall sound effects for the animals being in this segment before when Chrissy is saying "well a frog is alive" etc. I wish they would stop altering these things.

  • I know Richard Hunt was one of the Alphabeats, but did he do both of them, or just one?

  • Jeff Moss does the lavender alphabeat and Richard Hunt does the Green one.

  • Favorite!!!!

  • the keyboard in this clip Little Chrissy plays on(mind all)has not only been in this segment, but countless other related muscial segments...not all of them just a few others.

  • this song was stuck in my head the first time i watched it when was like 6 or so...I can't believe i still remember this....

  • Whoops, my mistake. I just looked it up on the lyrics and the breaths came first, then the line. I thought it was the reverse with the line, then the breaths. So nothing's wrong with it!

  • Cool! What a classic song this is! Except for a mistake: the Alphabeats are breathing in and out the wrong ways. I remember snippets of this song. Nice job! : )

  • For some reason this scared the hell out of me when I was young

  • Say hello to you, your music makes my blood regain it self, over time i never thought that this could ever be found, sine a child i wanted to play music the key is A minor parts of G as well. but its fun to play again now that im still alive in this time frame your the best

  • Thanks. I haven't seen that since at least 1984 or 5 maybe earlier. I'm amazed that I could remember it nearly verbatim all these years later.

  • Who was the singer that voiced Chrissy?

  • Christopher Cerf

  • I remember the song very well, but completely forgot it was sung by Chrissy and the Alphabeats... or any Muppets.

  • Who else could've sung it?

  • is it me or does Chrissy look like Elton John? :D

  • The "breathe in, breathe out" bits used to scare me. I'd turn off the TV. No joke.

  • really? i used to think that breathe in part was funny. :D

  • breathe in, ahhh! breathe out! :D

  • I have the MP3 where he talks beforehand (well, some of it at least)...

  • what's it called?

  • You're alive boys.

    You wont.

  • YEAH!!!

  • Anybody got the full version of this where Little Chrissy gives a quick speech before they begin the song?

  • Not half bad as Little Chrissy songs go; I give it four stars.

  • This isn't bad but I wish someone could post this better because someone forgot the part where Little Chrissy talks about this sone and also the clip doesn't keep up when Little Chrissy Sings. I hope someone can post a better clip of this. Thanks I like it when it doesn't pause in any parts of this clip.
