    Rep K State fo life

  • how long is your hair in this video?

  • @MrCarltonMAveryII About 2 inches untwisted.

  • how did u wash yur dreads wen dey wuz diz length?

  • @lildenz25 spray bottle filled with soap. Just massaged my roots and lightly rinsed it. I did that until it was locked and they wouldn't come out. (4-5months)

  • fresh locs bruh. Do you plan on getting them retwisted by someone or yourself. I use Allways Natural Supergro. It works right now in my fro stage. I plan on getting mine twisted in Sept. Good luck with the journey.

  • @Supa6Fly This was almost 2 years ago. Back then I was going to somebody for the 1st few months, then I started doing it myself. Now Im back to going to someone because I get them interlocked.

  • When you first started, what was the exact name of the Shea loc you used?

  • @MrNickSan The brand name was Ashea, and the product was Shea Loc. You have to order online @ ashea.com or call them directly. You don't need much when you use it either. I still use the jar that I bought a lil after this video, which was almost 2 years ago...

  • hw long ur hair have 2 b cuz i gt a fro bt i dnt kno hw much i need 4 twist

  • @BR33ZYGUCCIBOYIMILL I started with about 2 inches in this video

  • @sIXsTRingZ00 could i get my hair twisted at 1 inch?

  • @Mylovekori0 Easy answer...No. You definitely should wait til you have about 3in, 2in minimum.

  • @Mylovekori0 yes u can man. all u have to do is find somebody that can start twist that short. i know a lot of people that started that short. i plan on starting mine at 1 inch.

  • how did you start them off as twist or wat

  • @JerodDaKing Yeah, comb-coiled twists.

  • my hair grows that long in 2 months

  • @jaybrezzy13 congratulations...

  • @sIXsTRingZ00 lmfaoo " congratulations " is right lol

  • "I heard dread locks were dirty." LOL

  • I've been growing my hair for about 4 months as well...I have two tubs of African hair cream to finish before I twist em up so I'm gonna wait until the summer. You recommend anything? I digg that you listen to Christian Rap...I love Flame and Lecrae. Big ups bro.

  • @Scrottmania Nah sounds like u got a good Idea of when u gonna start...I personally couldn't wait that long because I hate the way I look with a fro and I dont think cornrows look to good on me either (even though some ppl say they like em). But yeah, good luck with your journey fam! God Bless.

  • they look good man check mines out

  • how long did it take to get them done?

  • it took her about 3 hrs... She wasn't a REAL loctician. Normally it would have took a bout 2 for the first set of twist and about and hour and a half for retwists.

  • is there a time when your hair is too long to start?

  • No, you can start locking at any time above 2-3 inches. I will say that if your hair is long (above 6-8 inches) you might want to use another method besides comb twists to start because it will take a long time to lock. Interlocking or box braids usually work best at the longer lengths. Don't get me wrong, twist will work, but I would prefer interlocking if my hair was long. Overall, its never too late to lock!

  • Would you recommend interlocking at an early stage?

  • @KnobiKanobi If you have enough length, yeah. I would think that 5 in would be the absolute minimum. I didn't start interlocking until a couple months ago, but I like that I can wash my hair whenever I want since my hair is already locked now.

  • mango and lime - no more itch seems to be a good product for stoping the itch and for promoting growth. im about to get my fro twisted and ill be using only mango and lime products. They have great reviews. keep putting that christian rap on its refreshing. God Bless.

  • well aint u handsome

  • now do you have to take those down and get them don again?

  • when i heard u say ambassador i allmost jumped out the buildin lol i love some ambassador u got that heavens mentality?

  • nah, I know thats CMs 1st album but I jumped on the 2nd album House of Reps (the 1st QUALITY CHH album) and Christology in Laymans Terms is a CLASSIC!

  • how long was ur hair in this video

  • bout 2 inches

  • What cute baby dreads....off to watch the updates!

  • did u get coils or twist i jus want tha look of locs cause i dont want to be stuck with it, so i should prbably go with twist right?

  • mee too im grown mine out im about to make some vids

  • if you think that is slow then you should see mine

  • How long was your hair when you got it twisted??

  • Congrats on starting your journey!

  • hey SIX...can u spell "SHAYLOCK" (6:00) for me? I'm getting my twist done before xmas, and I wanna go research some products for my twists. Thank ya bro..ya shit looks fresh....hoes will flock. lol

  • Yeah, its "Shea Loc" mad be the company Ashea (pronounced uh-shay. You cant by it in stores, but you can get it online if you look at my 2nd video I think I put the link in there. But just make sure you ask your hairstylist what they use before you go (dont let them use beeswax in your head...there are a lot of product for your locks that are better than wax..)

  • good looking out, mang. Appreciate the advice.

  • thanks for the advice...i may even wait until january before i start...i'm kinda broke so i'm also saving money by doing that, lol. i've never grown my hair out, so i'll also get to enjoy that experience. i'm already learning a lot about myself and am becoming a little less self conscious by the day which of course brings out more confidence, and i think people notice it. Anyway, I'm gonna post some pics, and put my very first youtube video up soon....again, thanks for your response.

  • hey i'm about to loc my hair soon and am curious to know how much hair you started with. i think my hair may be a little shorter than yours....i have about 2inches and have been growing my hair for about 3 months.

  • If I were you I would wait about 4 more weeks. You will be able to get bigger sections of hair to twist which will make for thicker locks (unless you want them skinny) and it will make your twist last longer bc when your hair is shorter it is easier for them to come loose which is a waste of $50-75.

  • good luck with your loc journey!...peace!

  • it came out nice. did she clip your hair? how long did you sit under the dryer? im asking because someone with about the same length hair as yours, maybe shorter, asked me to start their locs. nice song by the way!

  • Yeah she clipped it she had to get some smaller clips than the traditional size though. I didnt spend as much time under the dryer as I should have since the salon was about to close, so I when home at used my hair dryer too so ~30 mins. If the person whose hair you are doing is shorter than mine I would tell them to wait honestly...maybe about 4 more weeks, you will be able to make larger sections which make for stronger locks. I wish my back was a lil bit longer...

  • thanks for the tip! I'll let them know and see if they want to wait til their hair grows out some.

  • good luck man. They look real nice. And thanks for the comment on my vid

  • Congratulations and welcome to the loc community lol. Like everyone said be patient. I am in the ugly stage now :( but it will be ok. And for a spray i mixed some water and some Africa's best oil and i spray that on my hair now and it doesn't really itch.

  • good luck homie, im on my journey 2. just stay patient youll be alright

  • Yeah, so far so good. Good luck with yours too man.

  • Your locs look good! My advice is to stay patient and watch them grow. Most of all enjoy the journey.

  • Im on my journey too

  • Congrats man. I'ma be there with ya soon! Cut all my hair off around june 20th and have been growing it back since for locks. Well, stay strong brotha & good luck! =]

  • Patience is key man. I've been growing out my hair for almost four months. My last haircut was on June 6, 2008. My hair has grown a lot; but I'm not gonna get mine twisted until January. Want mine to be as long as possible. Anyway, good luck man.

  • I woulda waited that long, but I was gettin tired of pickin my fro. So as soon as I got to a length where they would be a thick as I wanted I got it done. But good luck with yours are you gonna be postin some videos too? Keep us posted, God Bless.

  • I do plan on posting some vids when I get a new camera. I'll definately be sharing my journey soo
