I can certainly concur that they are not for the fainthearted. We have three, but one (Nigel) has to be kept seperately. The other two get on fine but bullied him. Nigel himself is a terrorist, and regularly threatens to bite our heads off if only he could open his little beak wide enough! I love them to bits but they are a bit trying. They are smaller than lovebirds and are not parakeets but parrots.

@ItsPaperDontJudgeMe I have a Parrotlet, and my friends have a lot of budgies. When I frist brought my Parrotlet to play, they didn't think a bird could be so small! When we put them next to each other, my parrotlet was a bout the size of one of their baby budgies. So they really are, very tiny.
@ItsPaperDontJudgeMe *ABOUT* the size of lovebirds as most people haven't seen a Parrotlet in person and don't have anything to compare it to and the videos don't show their size very well..so for comparison "about the size of a lovebird" is the closest comparison I could think of, though Parrotlets are smaller.
awhh!! My baby boy Eli goes crazy over this!! Hes new to the family, by about 2 months! Im just now 11 and Eli is also a parrotlet! Awhh I love them, how old are yours? and what are their names?(:
@Noorpuff747 No once they grow to this sizr they will stay like that. They may be small, but they are very smart like an Amzon parrot and very adorable. They will win your heart like they won mine.
My old budgie died so I'm getting 2 male 6 week old parrotlets for christmas, both brothers. I already reserved them and paid the deposit because I really loved them. I can't wait to get them. The only reason I'm waiting for another 3 is weeks because I don't know how to handfeed. Hope I helped! =]
Actually, they are baby parrotlets. It's the smallest species of true parrot. See the squared tail as opposed to a long tail that ringneck would have. Additionally, ringnecks have a brightly colours beak where as parrotlets have a beige tone beak. Also, parrotlets are the size of a love bird where the ringnecks are the size of a cockateil. Hope this helps.
The aggressive part is the biggest thing to be aware of. I've fostered many parrotlets that were missing toes b/c of altercations with other parrotlets. CT3i is right. They are small and the parakeet similarities end there. They are sweet and cuddly when socialized properly and can be wonderful pets, but certainly, not for the faint of heart. :)

They are *far* more agressive to the point of harming all other birds when they are adults. They bite, hard. But they can talk and be cuddley, they are true parrots (like amazons), they are extremely fiesty and need a lot of enrichment and such. Do your research before adopting one and don't make too many assumptions about their similarities with parakeets b/c of their size. They are similarly sized but the similarities end there.
omg

Cute, even though I'm a guy. I own a couple myself, but the babies did not survive because the parents were inexperienced. :(

@SurvivingLove Parrotlets are like, the size of your thumb, basically. I've held and played with a few at my old breeder's shop.
