  • 2 people are Lil Wayne and Tyga.

  • @FBIagentNinja the 2 dislikes are nicki minaj and soulja boy

  • When the 2012 Presidency comes around I'm gonna be like fuck ya'll motherfuckers Eric B For President.

  • @mikemillion2000 i think your mistaken

  • Ok, this one is the remix and it sounds great, but anyone got the original track?

  • Over 20 years later and it still echoes throughout the summer

  • 0 dislikes...the way it should be

  • The song that let the world know that Rap had grown up and established itself as a genre independent of all other forms of music.

Perhaps the most important rap song ever in that regard. Definitely one of the best, if not the best, ever.

  • @BettorOffSingle You're right....by 1985 corporate America couldn't afford to ignore Hip-Hop because they realized they could use it to sell a product...hence the beginning of the end...

  • Ya caught an attitude, ya need food to eat up. Screaming like I'm dreaming on the couch wid my feet up.

  • Ya caught an attidue, ya need food to eat up. Screaming like I'm dreaming on the couch wid my feet up.

  • the true blueprint for rap greatness..

  • Not so proud to say it but... DJ Hero led me here.

  • sounds like this song was sampled for the In Living Color theme song

  • Best. Rap. Song. EVER.

  • Waht ever happened to the line 'must have got you too hot burned off your wings" .did they really think that was too racey for the song.

  • if you aint have this white cassette tape you a weirdo...or just too young.

  • @rarafrom215 i got this single and album :)

  • GOAT! Nobody comes close to this rap killa.

  • the first time i heard this was summer 1986 sitting on my stoop in Bed Stuy listening to red alert's rap attack. when this nigga said "thought i was doughnut, you tried to glaze me" i knew, at that very moment, that Hip Hop was something different. no longer a fad, no candy rap bubblegum bullshit. this shit was serious and here to stay! this is was a game changer right here.

  • If this is supposed to be remix, where's the original?

  • @GeneralArmorus the original 12". i cant find it in full online. only bits and pieces.

  • i was wondering, in the album version of "eric b is president" why'd they cut out the line "i must have got you too hot and burnt of your wings" line and replace it with a "make em clap to this" sample? i always thought it seemed strange.

  • @danthedonHBB Yeah man I never cared that either...

  • Comment removed

  • THE WOODS !

  • where was that hey sampled from

  • @gropegrape they sampled Fonda Rae "over like a fat rat". The story goes that eric b. showed the song to rakim & rakim spit his beer all over the wall thinking it was the funniest shit he'd heard. Eric b. then goes " just like you laughing now, you gonna be laughing all the way to the bank & be a millionaire one day because of this record"- the rest is history.

  • To Drjoz2422: "glaze" was a late 80s expression for being played for a fool

  • Classic "Thought I was a donut, you tried to glaze me" are you fucking kidding me? retarded!

  • @drjoz2422 from:bigskells

glaze is from the 80's for bein played as a fool

  • wow.... Rakim is BEAST on the mic... one of my favorite rappers along with Guru!

  • Happy Presidents Day!

  • Still got versions of this on a '12 inch. Folks started playing this back in '86 and was like who the hell is this. They came in kicking the door down. Rakim, one of the baddest lyricists.

  • classic

  • Erik Bustavo kkkkkkk

  • Thx for uploading this.

  • RESPECT THE OLDSCHOOL!!!!!

  • I came in the door, I said it before

I never let the mic magnatize me no more

But it's biting me, fighting me, inviting me to rhyme, I can't hold it back, I'm looking for the line, Taking off my coat, clearing my throat, My rhyme will be kicking it until I hit my last note. CLASSIC RAKIM :)

  • YOU SCREAM I'M LAZY, YOU MUST BE CRAZY, THOUGHT I WAS A DONUT, YA TRIED TO GLAZE ME.....Classic.......
