  • @JusPuppyLuv93 Sure thing, JPL. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Prismacolor Premier pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombow ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink blown with compressed air from a duster can on regular old uncoated bond paper. (And thank you very much for your kind words. :^)

  • you always turn something grotesque into something kinda cartoonish... i love it

  • @MrRADCAB Thank you so much, MrRADCAB. :^)

  • Without a doubt, I think this is my favorite monster that you've done! LOve the idea of using the roll of tape as the boundaries! What marker do you use for the thinner lines??

  • @videboi1972 Yeah, I felt pretty clever for using that tape roll. :^) I'm glad you like the result, videbori. For the finer lines I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens.

  • It's an absolute joy to watch you drawing! A true inspiration! My monsters are not even by far as interesting as yours, but they definitely find it fun to watch you work :D It's amazing how dedicated you are! My favourite nerd, geek & designer! With all due respect :D

  • @Carpadia Oh, thank you so much, Carpadia! What a kind and generous comment! I really appreciate it. :^)

  • just letting you know this will be my future tattoo.. def gonna be a turtle (:

  • @jetplanel0l Oh yeah? Cool! Do send a photo when you get inked, please. :^)

  • good work, i like it. if you are interested in more motion pictures i did recently a animation with a lot of ink which pour down skycrapers. i would appreciate if you watch this on my channel or watch for " weltgang "

    best wishes

  • @bbstepho Hi bbstepho. Somebody flagged your comment as spam. Weird. I just saw your animation! It's gorgeous! Beautifully done!!!

  • There is only one word to describe your drawings

but its either epic, legit, amazing, outstanding, mind blowing(i know its two words), or some other word that expresses awesomeness

  • @TheStetsonRed Well, then I have just one word for you, Stetson: gratitude. :^)

  • dude thats epic! your so creative! xD

  • totally just did stuff like this in art class today xD we watched your videos and did this for kicks xD

  • @SexiAlphonse Excellent! I like your art teacher! :^D

  • i wish u could be my art teacher :D

  • @ardbzlove1012 Could happen. Get yourself to Art Center College of Design, and maybe I'll start teaching again. ;^)

  • @StefanGBucher I would go there just so you could be my teacher :]

  • @paper2dreams OK. Maybe THAT'S the best compliment I can think of. :^D

  • @JasonFreyholtZ Thank you very much, Jason! You're very kind. I bet you're better than you think. Just keep drawing! (I have to, too, otherwise my line gets all flabby. :^)

  • man you have quite an imagination!

  • @dubedition1111 They just keep popping out... I should probably seek help. :^D

  • He's having a disco in his eye! :'D

    I love this one ^^

he must get tired walking around on hands. However, you're amazing!

  • Thank you very much, WeComeOutAtNight6661. I like the idea of a disco eye. :^D

  • nice eye. it's probably butters after kenny hit him in the eye with the ninja star on south park. XD :^D

  • Ha! Yes, I can see that, thevilkitty616. :^D

  • Easily my favourite daily monster!

My brother found your work whilst he was researching for a college design project and now I'm hooked! :D

  • Thank you very much for the hookage, shmeeloubee, and thanks to your brother for turning you on to the Monsters. :^)

  • nodnarbr420 thats basically his "signature" . He does an ink splatter and makes an amazing monster out of it, NOT many people can do that. and not many people have enough imagination to creat a different monster with different ink "styles" (correct me if thats not what its called o.O)

Anyways, i think you monsters are all amazing. I think i might like your art almost as much as i love alex pardee's :D which is a good thing.

  • Well, hell! Alex Pardee is good company to keep. Thank you for your kind words and the spirited defense, hardXcord. I appreciate both! :^)

  • this guy sucks

  • Hi nodnarbr420. Wait... who sucks? Me or the Monster. :^D

  • well i mean, i don't want to hurt your feelings or anything, but to put it in MY OPINION, i don't really like the way you draw these creatures. They're all ink splatters, I DK, I'd like to see other styles from you.

  • Oh, not to worry. My feelings aren't hat easily hurt. You can't be all things to all people. The whole point of this series is that they're based on ink splatters, so... hard to do it without that part. :^D But if you'd like to see non-Monster things from me, google my name with the keywords "design" or "Illustration."

  • Have you ever read the book, 'The 13 and a 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear'? The drawings are a lot like yours

    Love these drawings

  • Hello WtFCBermudaCake. I haven't read that book yet, but I just looked it up, and I'm flattered by the comparison. Thank you! :^)

  • man i love those liquid ink pens so dam addictive !! love ur style iv gotten into this style latleys since i came across those pens thanks for showen me how to draw feet lol il use that trick alot ! SUBBED

  • Thank YOU, hurleypwell. I'm glad I was able to help out. :^)

  • Your drawing talent makes me want to give up

  • Oh no, brainiacbelle! I was hoping for the exact opposite! -- Making the Monsters is fun, and not very hard at all. It's all about process. You put down a random blot, you add an eye or two, maybe some teeth, and you're halfway there. You can even download pre-made ink blots from my site in the Open Source Monster section. There are also lots of examples of drawings by other people in that section. Give it a try! I bet your monsters will come out great!

  • O_o

What a huge, and creepy eye. Awesome!!

Wow, great job I really love your drawings so much ^-^

    *Subscribes* :p

  • Gotta love a big and creepy eye, right, kailan121? Thank you for the compliment and for subscribing. :^)

  • I am stunned at your talent, Mr. Stefan Bucher.

  • Thank you very much, ARandomPersonNamedMo. That's very kind of you. :^)

  • It's good to see someone who draws with creativity still.

-Loved the monster by the way.

  • Thank you very much, craker199. You're very kind. But you seem disappointed by the state of drawing. I admire so many current illustrators, that are so great... I must point you their way: Istvan Banyai, Lara Tomlin, Steve Brodner, Christoph Niemann, Peter de Sève, to name just a few. And Ralph Steadman and Ronald Searle, of course.

  • i subscribed for you cuz i wanna be like you when i grow up but what is ur job called

  • Hello storm80error. Oh, what's my job called? Right now I go by designer / illustrator / writer, but I just do what I do. I wish there was a good name for it. :^)

  • You are an awsome artist. Im subscribing. NIce monsters by the way.

  • Thank you very much, qwertyuiopyakov. That's very kind of you. :^)

  • of course is amazing your painting skills, and your kind for answer everyone, but also is wonderful your imagination for draw so many (and so cool) monstas.

    continue this way!

  • Thank you very much for your very kind words, jabostayla92. And now I go ahead and take a whole month to answer your comment of all comments! I apologize. My day job took over and I fell behind on my correspondence. I'm glad you're enjoying the Monsters. :^)

  • NICE!!!

  • Thank you, 7danique7. :^)

  • what paint do you use

  • Hi Sheena, I use Yasutomo sumi ink. :^)

  • Do you ever mess up while taping a drawing and have to do it over again?

  • Hi there, Kiddymeow. Yeah, that happens, but rarely. If it happens, it's mostly with the upside down writing. On the Monsters it's more a case that I don't see a character in the ink blob at that moment. Once I have that in my head it's just the drawing part, and that tends to go OK. :^)

  • is the pen u use to color in a sharpie?

  • Yes, the black one is a Sharpie. The red is a Tombow.

  • one of my favourites

  • Ha! I'm glad. Thank you very much, bavarianbass.

  • nice job!

do you really answer everyone? (omg a challenge!)

  • Indeed I do, 2xCuttlefish. :^)

And I'm glad you like the Monsters.

Are you 2xCuttlefish because of what Andy Warhol said?

"The only thing better than Elvis is two Elvises." (Did he actually say that? I can't find it now.) Anyway, I'd imagine 2xCuttlefish to be at least 2x as good as 1xCuttlefish.

  • great hands

  • Thank you, DarbiterM. My hands are blushing. :^)

  • nice new technique

  • Thank you, appleeater17. I'm glad you like it. :^)

  • Meine Augen traenen ja allein vom Zusehen! Wirklich toll, was du dir da jeden Tag ausdenkst.

  • Dank Dir, CrazyRager. Freut mich, daß Dir die Monster gefallen. :^)

  • you truly do answer everyone... no matter their language

  • As long as those languages are English or German, or are readily digested by Google Language... yes, I try. :^)

  • dang that guys eye is blood shot

  • It's true, Ineverwinthelottery. Too many hours of drawing without sufficient light. :^)

  • apart from the fact its amazing its also good as i wet myself when i realised what u were gooin to do with it lolol sssoooo funny i really really like this one blimmin amazing as per usal

  • Ha! Excellent! I'm happy to hear that this one made you laugh. :^D

  • #30:

    Species: Blast-Eyed Bapple

    Name: Keclcrow

Story: B-E.B.'s all (there's only one, of course, but for the sake of time..) have eyes that are always hurting, those two pathetic feet, and the whole deal. Keclcrow hates life.

  • is das geil man^^

  • Ha! Freut mich, das es Dir gefällt, KATHAstrophe666.

  • mieses auge^^

  • Genau! :^D

  • Hi Stefan! Ur videos are awesome, I can't stop watching them....How long have u been drowing things? Is it only monsters u drow or have u got other things?

  • your blackening technic is very neat

    nice one

  • One of the best, yet! Reminds me of a migraine I had the other day.

  • ooooh I'd definitely buy a monster T-shirt!!!

  • OMG that is wicked! But i dont get how that person did the brain, it was that quik!

  • Hi Claymators. I blew the ink inside a roll of tape. That's how it got the round shape like that.

  • i have been watching these for a while. your ideas are really cool, have you thought about putting them up as stickers?? street art style your work fits the bill big time!

  • Hadn't thought of street art stickers, Percy. (I don't want to tangle with the Man. THey get mighty testy about things like that around here.) But I'm looking into a book, maybe T-shirts. And why not stickers, certainly. Good idea.

  • his eye looks like it was shot, blood splashed all around it, and then it became big because an infection... lols!

    am I too morbid? xD

  • Hello pozado. I think you're probably exactly right. And no, you're not too morbid. :^) THe question is, why did it take me 2 YEARS to reply to your comment? Sheesh!

  • my bro asked me to wrote a comment in is name T_T

"dude its sooooo cool" (stupide brother)

can't wait to see what stories come up for this little guy...

  • Thank you, blackapron. I'm glad you enjoyed that. Forgive me for taking... ahem... 2 years to reply. How did I not see your comment before now?
