First time I heard this song i was driving away from a wedding. The wedding was for my best friend who I popped the question too 4 months earlier. I was a groomsman in the wedding. Talk about a rough time. This song spoke to like no other song ever has.
14 years later, we're married. Been married now for 5 years.
This song reminds me of someone that I'm crazy over. I've always tried to be there for her but her self-destructive nature always ends up hurting both of us. :(
I believe this song is about 2 people who were deeply in love and had many chances to be together but never truly grabbed the moment. they left each other they looked for themselves trying to feel that whole feeling they had with each other. Lost and alone they got scared and angry, and the girl tries to seek the peace through religion but it still doesn't work. as they are alone without each other they become shells of there former selves... suicide becomes a factor and then.. nothing is left.
Basically about a few young adults who suddenly find themselves independent individuals in the real world and are unable to deal with it. Massive stress, depression, and even the desire for suicide follow. That's at least my interpretation.
I hadn't heard this song in years when I heard it tonight. It was my bf's birthday when this song started, and just memories started to come back to me - the happy and sweat time I spent with bffs enjoying our friendship-the time when I used to listen this song-and now was gone .Tears came, and I couldn't stop them. She came closer to me and hugged me. "It's never going to be the same, isn't it?" "Time and space can separate people, but if love is strong,it will reunite them again :)" - she said <3
"She parks her car outside of my house. Takes her clothes off. Said she close to understanding Jesus." ...something so strong and relatable about this part but i dont know why. I love it.
I love this song. I remeber laying in my dorm room in 1995 at 2am listining to this song when I couldn't sleep. Things sure haven't changed much in 17years
My dad died this year....everytime i hear this song i think of his accidental suicidal because he loved this song, i can't help thinking if he listened to this song and then decided- it's time. :'(
Really sad song, when you think of all the people that have left us in vain.
But there’s a hint of hope I find through listening to this song, co-existing through the mumblings of self pity, and it’s that we are all kidding ourselves. In the simplest of terms we need to learn to let go, loosen up, “carve your name” in any way you choose because we all have a few screws loose. You are not alone, we will catch you.

Heres how I interpret this song: I'm living in a town where everyone is the same. Individuality isn't the right way. Trying to be my own person is driving me insane, and I feel like "I'm under the gun around here." Me expressing my emotions openly is frowned upon, and I'm "thinking of jumping" which, to me, is killing my uniqueness, falling in line with everyone else here. I wish someone else could see my pain. Just my two cents if you dont like it... screw yourself.. nah jk

@TheRejoice7 because amazing music speaks to your soul, and its hard not to react. that is how real music should make you feel. and only a true artist like the counting crows could bring you such an experience.
To me this song is about watching a close , loving friends decension into madness......and there is nothing you can do to stop it, so you just go through it with him/her. I think its beautiful.
@lellyluv103 I think the song means different things to different people...open to interpretation. why doncha just email and ask em what its about instead of fkrs on youtube

love this song so much.......................dedicated to my mom and dad they are passed and i cant see nothing cause my eyes are tearing ........brokenhearted
@tina1000able YEah I hear ya. My pops passed away when I was only like 18, right...but I know that if he saw one tear in my eye he would say to 'Forget cryin', get back to living'. Sometimes I'd swea\r I can fell his spirit. like two hands pressing on my back moving me forward. YOu gotta move forwards too, girl. You gotta keep keepin' on!
I had a horrible day today... The moment I heard this song it made me feel slightly better... I have no idea why.. Lol. Great song. <3

Peace, Chefshitpiece.
