I believe this song is about 2 people who were deeply in love and had many chances to be together but never truly grabbed the moment. they left each other they looked for themselves trying to feel that whole feeling they had with each other. Lost and alone they got scared and angry, and the girl tries to seek the peace through religion but it still doesn't work. as they are alone without each other they become shells of there former selves... suicide becomes a factor and then.. nothing is left.
