  • hakeem and jordan also bill rusell are the three greatest players to eveer live

  • @UCIBME your a dumbass that would be a double dribble unless someone passes the ball to him and he is in triple threat then he could do that

  • lmfaooooo the knicks will always suck ass. only their delusional fans and ESPN pick them to be contenders every goddamn year

  • @fluffynoses hey im a knick fan i didnt fet my hopes what does it make me

  • Blech! Just like torturing myself I guess. Because I watch this all the time, and EVERYTIME I watch it, I hope somehow it's different. I hope Starks gets the shot off because I swear he was hitting that 3, and The Knicks would've been champs!

But not meant to be I guess, but dammit man. Just wanted ONE championship for Patrick Ewing. Hakeem got 2, would've been nice if The Dream let Patrick have this one, and Olajuwon got his next season

  • @GialloHorror it's ok. if u think about, jordan kept a lot of greats and great teams from getting rings.

  • @sydandtaytum He did man, no doubt. Ewing, Miller, Barkley, Malone, Stockton etc etc. If Jordan was with Teh Bulls in 1994 and the full 1995 season Houston probably wouldn't have beaten them either

  • @GialloHorror I agree, Jordan's 1 1/2 year absence from the NBA lead the Rockets to there 2 titles

  • i really believe this tip/block is what got the Rockets the championship...Game 7 was in Houston, and if Hakeem doesnt touch it, we dont win

  • John Starks and the Knicks most certainly had to right idea, The fact that this game was so close the Knicks definitely had the Rockets psychologically beat, no doubt, but was only denied by Hakeem in the end. He knew damn right that ball was going in.

  • the tip is still a heartbreaking moment for me

  • Comment removed

  • john starks=bum

  • I'm a huge Knicks fan (u can tell cuz of my username) but I don't see what's so GREAT about this he didn't really "block" the ball but he got a tip on it and it effected the ball that's pretty much it

  • @knicks1214 you can't be much of a knicks fan if you can't understand the importance of that tip/block

  • @knicks1214 yeah but because of that rockets won

  • PAUSE THIS VIDEO AT 0:19.... enough said...no need to comment

  • @optiKalismo What about it?

  • @Ldale11 wth ...it's the whole point of this video (the block)

  • the voice remins of transformers optimus prime

  • No way rockets win 2 in a row if Jordan stays in the NBA..Took full advantage lol

  • @jonbz17 We'll never know. At least Jordan would FINALLY have to face a real center in the finals; not Vlade Divac or Oliver Miller.

  • @jonbz17 Dont be so sure....the rockets did quite well in the regular season against the bulls, sweeping them in 92-93............

  • I'd u say Knicks suck f*** u cmon they established a team have stat n melo and have set many records I'm Knicks fan but the tip was cool I found out about in the book of NBA finals MVP Knicks should hav won

  • I transferred my Clutch City VHS to a DVD over 10 years ago and I never get sick of watching this. I did the same thing with Double Clutch when they swept the Orlando Magic the very next years... Those were the days!

  • As a Knicks fan.....such a heart-breaking moment! Starks had beat Olajuwon and it looked like he had an open look for a 3, but give Hakeem credit, he was able to recover and just barely tip that ball. It really wasn't much of a block, but just enough to deny the Knicks a championship.

  • Nahhhh. Knicks should of won dat game. but too bad they suck now

  • nobody was happier than him when jordan 1st retired. nobody. he celebrated by dominating the league winning a couple ships

  • ChrisRedmanMVP ..........Olajuwon always treated MJ as his personal toy before he left.

  • @FuShengAlex - I agree, I was in the Houston Summit (where the Rockets played back then) and have personally seen after a couple of swats Michael Jordan took his game out of the paint. The only time he'd dare even think of attacking the rim is when Olajuwon was on the bench.

  • Hakeem was awesome playing the pic and roll

  • Three worst sports moments for me.

    1. 95 division series Yanks/Mariners'

    2. This play and game 7

    3. Knicks fight vs Miami and series loss.

  • @res340 I'm surprised Charles Smith/Scottie Pippen isn't on your list.

  • John Starks himself said the shot was good. I just wished Jordan had not retired so the Rockets would have once again prove the doubters wrong. This game is about teams matching up and the Bulls didn't match well against the Rockets. Just like Seattle didn't match up well against Denver. Now if Seattle would've gotten past Denver then they would have beaten Houston and become the '94 champs.

  • @vicvicious69 Seattle?? No fucking way!!! Who is gonna stop Hakeem? Sam I'm terrified of the paint" Perkins? McIlvane? Too many weapons for the Rockets./

  • ROCKETS WINS THE TITLE BECAUSE MJ WAS TAKING HIS TIME OFF.

    -PJ

  • @tothebeaty0 he played next season and we still won.

  • @guitarsANDcars39 - Exactly, it wasn't the Rockets fault that the Bulls got eliminated by the Magic. In fact it wouldn't have mattered who the Rockets played that year, Phi Slamma Jamma had business and it was getting settled regardless their opponent.

  • Starks travels before he puts the ball down... changes his pivot foot by lifting his left foot before he releases the ball to dribble.

  • @jbeckwith74 That's what I was thinking.

Man, I could watch clips of Starks getting stuffed all day :)

  • That's the play that made Olajuwon the MVP of that series. If he doesn't get a hand on that one, Knicks are your 1994 NBA Champions! That's how hot Starks was in that game. Whew, this brought back some real memories watching this nail-biter back in the day...

  • At least John Starks did get a good look at it. Lucky for Hakeem Olajuwon he timed that block perfectly to save their season.

  • Houston Rockets doesnt even deserve a damn championship.

  • @tothebeaty0

why not? what did they do wrong? enlighten me

  • Pause at :21-there is no way it was going in!!!!!! Deal with it! :)

  • Its hard to tell if Starks would of made that shot. Honestly I give 70 percent chance of draining it to end that game.

  • Olajuwon is the greatest defensive player of all time. Set aside his blocks record...he's 7th all time in STEALS. More steals than Iverson and Kobe.

  • no doubt that shot was money.

  • This was the first NBA game I ever attended. We just kept hunting around outside the Summit and somehow scarfed up 2 tickets for $40.00 each even while those Knicks fans had paid $400+ each thinking they were going to see a Knicks NBA championship that night. Ohh! Too bad for them!! Rudy used to shop at Randall's. Everyone left him alone except for the occasional, "Uh.."scuse me, Rudy! Gotta get by!". ROCKETS!

  • Knicks had this series won. I really thought the Knicks would take the title after getting past Chicago in 7 which they should not have. that controversial call on Scottie Pippen was the biggest dagger in Chicago's heart next to Michael Jordan's first retirement in 1993. had that call not have been made on Pippen, the Bulls had game 5 won & they won 6 at home & would have won the series 4-2 and on to the ECF against ''the Knick Killer'' Reggie Miller. I think they would have gone to the finals

  • steroids

  • Man, John Starks was my favorite player back in the day. I remember watching this and was "Alright. It's OK. Starks will get them in Game 7". Boy was I wrong! LOL

  • should have pump faked. Especially at the angle Hakeem was coming at. But hindsight is always 20/20. Only thing you can do is learn, and incorporate it in your game.

  • Wow if he'd gottin there like a second later he would have missed it. Great Play.

  • yeah starks had a great game but do yall remember what he did the next game lol

  • @teesteven i know. just awful. coach riley should have taken him out of the game or any smart player should have stopped shooting & change their style. the knicks had a good team & they should have won it. i've met & shook hands w/ j. starks in 1995 on the streets of NEW YORK. i called out to him , he smiled & came over to shake my hand & starks smiled & said thanks a lot.

  • Hakeem is one of the GREATEST PLAYERS OF ALL TIME!

  • Starks had 16 points in the 4th quarter that night. Wish it was 19.

  • Hakeem got real lucky he got a finger tip on the ball, or else there wouldn't be NO GAME #7. I know one thing for SURE atleast the Knicks held their own and gave the Rockets a run for their Money and made them EARN IT...

  • @maxinutri Thats true. The Rockets had great respect for The Knicks.

  • Starks would've made that shot 100%.He had terrorised the Rockets the entire game..If Hakeem had'nt of got the fingertips in the way Starks would've dropped it!!!

  • it doesnt matter if he gave a head fake or not hakeem the dream would have blocked it anyway!!

  • John Starks should of threw a head fake on Hakeem causing him to lose his balance than pull up for that 3 Pointer like Kenny Smith did in GAME #1 of the 1995 FINALS at Orlando!!!

  • no you fool he hadn`t!

thas was game 7 when he did shoot the lights out!

Game 6 was one of his best in that series, he was only denied by Hakeem in the end!!!

  • Probably game 7 you're thinking of. This is game 6 and Starks was absolutely on fire. No doubt in my mind he'd have hit the shot is Hakeen didn't get a finger on the ball.

  • true! that block literally won the championship. first of 2 titles. shaq and penny were next. they beat 2 good teams.

  • yeah, starks had a great game 1, harper went off in game 2 and they were downhill until starks was huge in game 6.

  • @Sagerian81 coulda woulda shoulda!

  • Why didnt Pat Riley choose a play that was more reliable in Starks shooting that 3 and it not getting blocked like a double screen or something more effective. He shouldve been aware of the fact that Hakeem had that ability in running out and guarding the perimeter and a double screen wouldve prevented that.

  • the play was designed as a screen-roll with Starks deciding whether to take the jumper or pass to Ewing inside. Starks later said in an interview that the problem was that Ewing set the pick too far from the basket, and with time running out he thought taking the 3 pointer was the best option.

  • I don't think Starks would've made that shot. Has he made any game winning shots in regular season or playoff history ?

  • it doesn't even look like the ball is going in? How could he get so much credit for blocking an air ball?? this is stupid

  • to all you stupid motherfuckers who are so lame you take time to argue the great block by Dream maybe wasn't going in anyway....LOSERS!!!!!!-Starks knew that damn ball was going in,pros get in a "zone"-when all your shots are going in-no one could stop him at that moment-except "the man"Olajuwon-doesn't matter the shot was blocked a couple inches after it left his hand-ever wonder why Starks went 2 for 18 the next game?-Dream messed John's mind up-the Knicks win in 6 w/out Dream's block.,LOSERS!

  • Man... you're still upset about this game? Oh wait, I am too. :)

I did like the Rockets though - they had a nice story. But I'm from NJ - the Knicks had the edge.

  • Hey, I love what Olajuwon did for the Rockets and for Houston but to say that was shot was going in automatically is insane. I don't care if Starks was 20 for 20 in the game, that shot was not a gimme three. Although if Starks said it was going in i guess we HAVE to believe him. Read my username, I love the rockets but you're a stupid motherfucker for saying the shot was going in no matter what without the olajuwon block.

  • SpaceCitySports,YOU ARE THE STUPID MOTHERFUCKER FOR EVEN WASTING OUR TIME-and you don't know jack fucking shit about pro shooters-these guys out of 6 billion people in the world are at the top of their game-usually they'll make close to half their shots-BUT WHEN THEY GET IN A "ZONE"-THEY CAN LITERALLY HIT EVERYTHING WHILE THEY ARE IN THAT "ZONE"-STARKS KNEW FROM THE SECOND IT LEFT HIS HANDS IT WAS GOIN' IN-NEXT HALF SECOND IT'S blocked-END OF DISCUSSION DUMBASS.STOP WASTING TIME,wake the fuck up

  • LET ME BE A STUPID IDIOT MOTHERFUCKER AND WRITE EVERYTHING IN CAPS TOO!!! I can tell you i know a lot more about basketball than you because YOU don't know jack shit. Maybe you believe everything pro players say know matter what, but it is frickin' impossible to say that shot was 100% going in. Maybe the shot would of gone in, but we will never know. Now you stop wasting my time.......

  • whatever dickless SpaceCitySports-you're a fucking retard, you're point is meaningless-just as your posts are.........have fun hitting your head while getting off the short bus-try a motorcycle helmut-it may save what little brains you have left........good luck to ya!!

  • my posts are meaningless? your post had nothing to do with the topic while making up some pointless story about a "bus and motorcycle"???? the fact is we can't tell if starks' shot would have gone down if olajuwon didn't block it. try not to write useless posts and prove me wrong. you're just some faggot douche who ran out of shit to say and made up a shitty story trying to avoid your own bullshit point.

  • fact is little bitch-Dream ended any chance the Knicks had of winning the finals with that block...only a loser would argue that great block 15 fucking years ago maybe wasn't even needed because Starks who was hitting everything in sight may have missed That shot!!.....you're a fucking moron and i'm pretty bored even humoring you're dumbass...wake up FAG

  • You're finally making some fucking sense since you turned away from your tunnel vision. He did "end any chance the Knicks had of winning the finals with that block". You're still a pussy dumbass for saying that shot would of gone in automatically without the olajuwon block. Oh, and don't try to make yourself feel better by saying you're "humoring" me because your previous points were dog shit at best. A retarded monkey who had both arms amputated could of typed a better argument than yours.

  • maybe if you'd take the dildo outta your ass you'd be able to think less like a retard, and tell your boyfriend to stop e-mailing me,he's trying to defend you by sending me defensive e-mails to back your faggy ass up............15 years after the fact-your dumb fucking idiot ass comes up with this "maybe it doesn't go in anyway"........what a dickless wonder you are

  • You just don't stop with the bullshit do you? Now you make some idiot claim about some anonymous asshole emailing you? The fucking FACT is maybe the shot goes in, maybe it doesn't but your narrow-minded view that the shot would of gone in 100 percent without the block is only a claim a pussy slow-witted cocksucker like you would say.

  • i just want to thank you for getting your boyfriend to stop coming(in your mouth also)-stop coming to your rescue by sending me abusive e-mails..you and him obviously have a beautiful relationship,he says you both swallow!!..anyway,SpaceCitySports,i want to thank you again,i think it's fine you and him like dicks in your ass,i like only girls but you fall in the 10% of pop who are gay,no problem...anyway goofball,of course no one knows 100%,that's true in almost everything dumbass..thanks again!

  • Dude what you, fucking 9 years old? You can't spell for shit "i just want to thank you for getting your boyfriend to stop COMING"?? 1. Your bullshit ploy about abusive emails is a shitty strategy of convincing people. 2. Your fag jokes are supposed to be funny? 3. You just proved my statement about the shot not automatically going in without the block. What happened to your argument about "being in the zone and never missing a shot no matter what." Nobody respects a flip-flopper......pussy

  • nobody respects posts implying what is probably the biggest block in NBA history-15 fucking years ago, posting meaningless posts that imply the shot may not have went in anyway..what an ass and waste of time you are-you talk about my mistakes in writing-in the same fucking post you write-Dude what you, fucking 9 years old?-fucking hypocrite.look you fucking airhead,no one gives a fuck about 100% potential makes or misses-John was hitting everything,Dream saved the finals, you're a moron

  • If you read all of my posts I have never disrespected the block asshole, it was the potential shot without the block that your dumbass was claiming would have gone in. Now you say that no one gives a fuck about 100% potential makes or misses? That was your entire argument! That if Olajuwon does not block the shot, then it was going in; was that not your argument? Then you turn around and say that John was hitting everything. You're flip-flopping again and dont know where you're going next; idiot

  • I'VE been laughing so hard every time you reply to my posts i just can't take it anymore,my guts hurt from laughing at what a complete dumbass and loser you really are.......if ya don't know by now i've been messing with you,as they say in the South-"you're about as dumb as a sack of hair"...wake up dude,i'm done laughing at you............Jeroel "Conan" Johnson...

  • Ah I see, so i guess you've been "in the zone" and have been messing with me this whole time and can't mess up with your hilarious red-neck jokes. Maybe your phase with writing in all caps was all in good honest fun. The point is your claim was bs and we all know you can't get around with it. You think too highly of yourself "Conan". Heh "Conan", and I thought Jeroel was dumb shit name.

  • i was fucking with you,but my point is basically true, and your point of maybe the shot not going in is just plain asinine-UP TO THAT POINT-John was a big game player-he was hitting everything and the shot most likely, greater than 99% goes in w/out the block.100% was fucking with you,but 100% rarely happens-walk across a mild street with no cars-will you make it?-you believe it's 100%,but it's not-a car could come out of nowhere and kill you.-Jeroel is a great name-superman's dad you fuckturd

  • So I guess if he shoots that shot with all stakes of the line its going in 99 out of 100 attempts? I don't care if he was christian laettner vs kentucky, you still can't assume the shot goes in without the block. 99 percent of a three pointer going in is only claim a dipshit like you would say "daddy superman". And superman's dad name is Jor-El not your inbred way of spelling it, or are they as dumb as a sack of hair in your southern town? I think I hear spidey calling me, uncle ken away.....

  • your youtube name is appropriate,it starts with Space-which is where your mind is-you are an airhead-it's as if your life depends on PROVING THAT DAMN SHOT FROM A DECADE AND A HALF AGO-MAY HAVE MISSED ANYWAY!!-then you defend yourself by stating you know it was a great block, then try again to prove it may have missed!-retard!!!!!1 you're so myopic and thick skulled-a transvestite could stick his dick in your ass(you'd probably enjoy it anyway)-and you'd still harp on how the shot may have missed

  • you're less than a moron,in fact-congrats on your frontal lobotomy healing up you flaming dipshit...fact is,when a great shooter,as Starks was before that block-when a great shooter is hot,he can hit everything while he is in a zone--you're pctges are retarded, like you are,,by the way asshole,my back's kinda sore from humping your MOM all night..have a nice day dipshit.................Jeroel

  • i'd help you pick your cotton, but like i told you already,my back hurts from humping your mom all night...maybe after i get some rest......goodnight asshole.......................Jeroel

  • my birthname is pronounced the same as Superman's dad,it's not spelled the same and i wouldn't have brought it up had you not said it was a dumbshit name..doesn't matter, also doesn't matter i am not from the South-only an idiot would assume that after i told you a saying they have in the South-about raving dipshits like you.i'm done with you, wasn't worth my time,i've just been bored and could tell how fucking retarded you are,so i messed with your infantile mind-go to your gay lover now.

  • what a jerk, blocking that shot

  • why does everybody say that if olaujwon wouldn't of blocked that shot it would of been a guaranteed three. i would of understood if it was a layup, but this is a three point shot with all the weight of the world on your shoulders. sure he was pretty clutch in this game but you could never assume a shot going in at this magnitude.....

  • shut the fuck up,witnesses there have stated the ball was on target and Starks was hitting everything that quarter-fuck off

  • Oh yea, i'm sure we can go by what the witnesses say. Praise the Lord because the witnesses said that ball was going down. Just because Starks was hitting everything that quarter does that mean the shot was a guaranteed make? What a one-sided vision you must have

  • Comment removed

  • but damnit regardless how much of a Bulls fan I was over the Knicks I gotta admit Starks' shot was MONEY!!! ESPECIALLY knowing that he was hitting big 3's in that same game keeping the Knicks alive. had Starks' shot gone in, Starks' would have been argueably a somewhat of a legendary player. but certainly not one of the best legendary players that's for sure. really sad =\

  • OLAJUWON.....OLAJUWON WITH THE BIG TIP!

^ haha love that commentator =]

  • been cross

  • The rockets should have won in 1993 too, they were screwed out of a win against Seattle in Seattle, game 7. I'm sure they would have taken down the bulls

  • hakeem the dream

  • I'm a Houstonian that was living in Queens at the time because of my job with the airlines. I remember watching that series at a bar off of Lefferts Blvd., howling with glee when Hakeem made that block. I'm suprised I got out of there alive. To say the locals were not amused would be an epic understatement.

  • lol, dude i would of done the same in your position

  • @AllenHines man houston was fun during those days

  • @AllenHines you are right. I probably would have hung you by a rope from the tracks of the A-train lol

Massachusetts people are worst though with this kind of stuff.

  • that was going in.. so sad

  • rudy t's qoute lives with me forever:"Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!"

  • poor john starks. he was abused by jordan and miller in the playoffs over the years. finally had the chance to win a championship, then came olajuwon.

  • I remember before Hakeem made that block, Starks caught serious fire in the final 2-3 minutes of game 6 and was just dropping shot after shot. I always believed that is The Dream never block that shot, The Knicks would of won the title that year because the shot was money

  • Yeah, I remember that he was just droppin' shots like rain. It was a great call by Riley to go for the win but it was an even greater effort by Olajuwon that made it happen for Houston.

  • that close from an NBA championship.

  • man he barely got a finger on it...............

  • I'm not just saying this because I'm a Knicks fan. THAT SHOT WAS MONEY. Just think about it. What if Hakkem didn't block it?

  • Olajuwon is the only center in history who blocks that shot.......W/OUT that block, the Knicks win the finals, over in 6

  • Starks would have made that shot too , man i remember that game .... i felt bad for John Starks

  • EPIC!

and if the rockets and bulls had met in the Finals....i think it would have gone 7 games......with the rockets winning...i mean Jordan only had 2 teams he had a losing record against...one being the rockets :) Vernon Maxwell did a good job of keeping Jordan in check

  • Haha, we can speculate on the Rockets-Bulls matchup, it would have been great.

    But Maxwell? Are you high?

Note his part in this beat-down:

    watch?v=CzUv5_YFhPI&feature=rec-HM-fresh+div

Took him 3 quarters to score 48 points while shutting down Maxwell and Stackhouse.

  • maxeypad: yes, I would say had the Bulls & Rockets met in the finals, it would have more than likely gone to a game 7 with the BULLS prevailing. never underestimate Michael Jordan in the finals. I have a lot of faith in Jordan in the finals that he would have pulled it off. he did it in '97 & '98 against the TOUGH Utah Jazz

  • The Rockets owned the Bulls during the Bulls first 3peet, and Olajuwon himself was a big game performer.

  • tharock220: but you never know what would have happened if they played in the finals

  • True, but you said yourself the Bulls would prevail, now we never know. I was simply putting forth an argument for the Rockets.

  • i would sit here and say hakeem is the greatest nba player ever, but i know that would draw a bunch of criticism and start a huge conversation about it, so instead i'll just say dream was one of the greatest nba players ever, and he was my hero growing up. a class act on and off the court.

  • i fucking hate when people say the rockets wouldnt have won their back to back titles if jordan hadn't left. HE LEFT!!! he came back, played 17 season games and got beat in the playoffs by a very talented magic team, he got stripped from behind by nick anderson and the magic won that game and went on to the finals. jordan played well, the bulls were still a great team but they got BEAT that year and didnt even make the finals WITH jordan.

  • also, who's to say the rockets wouldnt have beat mj and the bulls? hakeem was a MONSTER and nobody could handle him. of course mj woulda went off. if you look at head to head match ups from when hakeems rockets played mjs bulls it was pretty even, if i remember correctly, they were 1-1 on the season against eachother also.

  • Olajuwon's chances of beating Jordan were good-Dream is the only player from the same era to have a winning record over Mike..REGseason games of course-but Dream elevated his game in the post season just as much as Mike did.people forget that the 5 years Mike played w/out PIP /losing record all 5 years. bottom line is Dream ain't the 1 who left-he played his guts out every year and given another hall of fame teamate like Mike had for most of his prime?chances are good Dream wins many more titles

  • I do agree that of all the teams out there the Rockets really would've given the Bulls a run for their money. The Bulls faced good and great centers in the Eastern Conf Playoffs: Ewing, Laimbeer, Daugherty, Shaq, Mutombo, Zo, Smits. However the best centers they ever faced in the finals were Duckworth & Divac. I believe that if the Bulls played the Rockets and were to win it would've been a 7 game series.

  • this is true but it is also ture that he didn't have a whole season under his belt.

his first full season back 72-10. It would have been great to see a rockets-bulls final in the mid nineties.

  • or spurs-bulls

  • We were down by fucking two not three had over 7 seconds left, why the fuck did he not pass to Ewing to slam it and possibly draw a foul and WIN it

  • ummm maybe because Starks was hot that game and THE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE PREVIOUS QUARTER CENTURY OR LONGER WAS IN EWING'S FACE?? OLAJUWON WAS NOT GONNA BE DENIED-AND NO OTHER CENTER IN HISTORY BLOCKS THAT SHOT

  • DO you guys want a crying towel for the great block by dream a decade and a half ago?? wake the fuck up-dream is the greatest all-around center in history-and overall the Knicks-who took Mike's team 7 fucking games in '92-the Knicks were a better team except for Olajuwon destroying Patrick-Rebounds Pat won but i believe Pat shot about 38% and scored 18/game while Dream was at 27/game and 50%,,

  • never lookedat this play closley. looks like he got his hand on the follow through. ball neverchanges direction it slows down indicitive of foul not a block.

  • Haha, Starks himself said that he thought it would go in if Hakeem wouldn't have BLOCKED it...

  • In reply to below, Jordan's finals were mostly close. That's my point, not your's. I remember Stockton's 3 pointer, too. So what?

"maxpeezaay-And if 6 games is not dominating then 5 of Mj's 6 series in the finals was very close."

  • maxpeezaay, No, you weren't. U said "and in 97 they made it to WCF and lost in 6 games." It was 7 games. Orlando did not "dominate" the bulls. 6 games is not dominating. The bulls could have beat the Rockets. Upsets happen. You can't know they wouldn't. We're allowed to have an opinion.

  • Houston made it to the WCF in 97 and lost in 6 games on John Stockton's gamewinning shotm, it's on youtube, take a look..

And if 6 games is not dominating then 5 of Mj's 6 series in the finals was very close.

  • I missed the Knicks players from '94. That was my favorite roster when they had Eric Anderson as the 12th man. The whole team played with heart, passion, and hunger but they came so close. Those were the good 'ol days. Go NY Go!!!!

  • the knicks should thank michael jordan for his his retirement cause if he hadn't retired for 2 years they wouldn't have reached the finals at all. and the rockets wouldn't have won two titles either.

  • Uhm, remember Jordan and the Bulls getting trashed by Shaq and Penny in the playoffs? Jordan and the bulls didn't have a chance vs. the Magic in the 95, how the hell can you then say that the Bulls would've beat the Rockets in that year? That doesn't make sense at all, Jordan and the bulls got asskicked by Orlando Magic and the same Orlando Magic was swept by Hakeem and the rockets.

    Talk on, homegirl.

  • hey i'm just being realistic. the bulls got swept by the magic just because jordan just came back, he wasn't in top form yet and if he where he wouldn've owned shaq! the proof? jordan won a second three peat, if orlando/huston were better than the bulls they woudl've won those titles now wouldn't they?

  • The Bulls had no answer for Penny and Shaq in that series, don't matter if Mike was coming from his retirement, he put on a great show (you've have probably not seen the series, that's why) but the Bulls were too weak. Even an MJ at his best would have lost that series, they didn't have any answer for Shaq, Penny and Grant. Check his stats for yourself, he drobbed 2 points in scoring while the rest of the categories looked the same for Mike, just be honest, no way he could have won that series.

  • you can never know, i think if michael had stayed the bulls would've improved much more over the years and they would've been a better team when facing the magic, but it's debatable. i actually like the rockets and have nothing against them but that's my opinion. olajowan having a winning record agains michael doesn't mean a thing. nadal has a winning record agains federer, just for comparison. jordan and scottie would've eaten any team alive

  • How could the Bulls improved when they didn't have any PF or C or a decent point guard? Grant left after the 93-season and Rodman first came in, in the 96-season. They had no big-men what so ever, if Dream trashed Robinson, Shaq and Ewing in those 2 years I would have loved to see what he would have done to Wennington. Lets forget 95, they lost anyway vs the team Houston swept. In 94 Hakeem would have destroyed Bulls, who where they gonna put on Hakeem? Horace Grant? C'mon now.

  • And actually, Mike had better stats in the 95-playoffs then the year after when Chicago won. You just can't give the Rockets, can't you? Mike put on great numbers in 95 and still you talk crap about "he wasn't in form" and still he had better stats then the year after when he won...

And did you know that Hakeem had a winning-record vs MJ? Chicago had no answer for Dream, you think that Cartwright and Wennington would dominate 94-years MVP, DPOY and Finals MVP? Haha, c'mnon bro.

  • JohnMUTDMazzawi, I agree the 96-98 Bulls teams were better. But the 95 bulls weren't swept by the Magic. They lost in 6 close games.

  • If in 6 games is that close then Michael won 5 of his 6 finals and titles in close games.... Portland, Phoenix, Seattle and Utah x2 all lost in 6 games in the finals vs the Bulls...

  • plus it's a fact that in the two years of michael's absense the rockets won the championship, but when michael was back nobody heard of them. ye sure, they could beat the bulls in regular season, the payoffs is a totallly different story.

  • Haha, what? If you don't know you shouldn't talk, the whole 96-season was full of injuries and they only lost Sonics (the team that took it to 6 games vs BULLS) and in 97 they made it to WCF and lost in 6 games.

  • maxpeezaay, '97 Sonics lost in 7 not 6.

  • I was talking about the 96 season...

  • the same orlando magic got owned and swept by the same bulls in the nex year 4:0, nuff said.

  • You can't compare the 95 season to the 96 season at all, while the Bulls improved bigtime with Rodman, Orlando got worse. Shaq had trouble with injuries and didn't play the same as the previous season, Grant due to injury didn't have an impact vs the bulls, he didn't even score a point and only played the first game of that series. And Nick went down in an injury too so John Koncak and Anthony Bowie ain't the same as Anderson and Grant, nice try though.

  • oh come on how many excuses in one comment? like Rodman was the one who made all the difference. jordan abused shaq in every meeting, he could've swept the magic all by himself if he wasn't rusty. statistics are not everything, in the playoffs you have te be mentally prepared and jordan wasn't that time. jordan specialized ate beating teams that were better than his own (Jazz and Blazers) and you darling magic wouldn't be any different. stop throwing names and excuses

  • I'm the one with excuses? "He wasn't mentally prepared", "He was rusty"... Just be honest, MJ and his Bulls didn't have a true shot vs the 95 Magic and they would have been without any realistic chances vs Houston. Even though Mike played great in the 95-playoffs and better then he did the next year he still wouldn't have won the 95-playoffs. The team that dominated Mike and CO got SWEPT by Houston, SWEPT!

  • that's what you don't undersant, jordan had a better series in 95 if you're talking about statistics but his influence on the game was more evident in 96, that's something you'll never understand cause your a numbres freak. the magic in 96 were good enough to advance to the conference finals so i wouldn't say that they weren't as good as 95 even with all the injuries, but they were swept by a much better MJ. face it - your rockets have to thank michael every day for his semi retirement.

  • Ffs, it wasn't the same team Chicago faced and they had a better team then the previous year. They got Dennis Rodman while Orlando had many injuries and then vs the Bulls Grant got injured and didn't even score a point in the series. You can act like it didn't matter but I when the any teams starting PF who's averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds in the playoffs in that season goes down in an injury it's a HUGE difference, Antony Bowie was his replacement. C'mon now, don't be in denial.

  • you're making ridiculous claims here..."they wouldn't have a realistic chance" what?? The Knicks should have won the 94 series after being up 3-2 and they choked. The Bulls beat the Knicks every single year. What part of "no realistic chance" do you fucking mean? Face it, if Jordan doesn't retire your Rockets don't win shit...stop being an idiot

  • First of all, knicks didn't choke. Those 2 teams were damn close but the difference was Hakeem at the end. Dude was MVP, DPOY and finals Mvp, something no one has done earlier. And as far as I know Jordan got his ass kicked in 95 by the Magic in the playoffs, the same team Houston SWEPT. Talk all you want about MJ being rusty but no way they could have won against the team that swept the opponents who sent Bulls home.

  • If you think Jordan leaving didn't make any difference in team chemistry at least that year then you are wrong. Plus, making a statement like "well the rockets beat the magic who beat the bulls" kind of thing doesnt work. Who would guard Jordan on that Rockets team Robert Horry? The Rockets matched well with the Magic becuase Hakeem could contain Shaq. Also, The Knicks did choke They were one Hakeem tip away from a ring in 6 games. And saying Starks DIDN'T choke in the 7th game is absurd.

  • Also, what the hell is so hard to accept about the statement of Jordan being rusty? HE PLAYED 17 SEASON GAMES IN 1995. Do you think it's a coincidence that his team was the best team for 3 years, then he sat out the next year and played 17 games the year after, them losing, and then them 3 peating again? You act as if that Bulls team was washed up, yet a year later, they went 72-10 and had arguably the best team of all time.

  • This is what I'm talking about, you don't care about players coming in, you think Michael did it all by himself. You forget that after Horace left due Jordan's bitching the Bulls didn't have any good or even decent big men left.. You know that the bulls had other guys like Kukoc, Pippen and Rodman...?

  • I don't like the Rockets or the Bulls, but at this point it's clear you're a Jordan hater. KUKOC WAS A FREAKIN 6th man. The only guy "coming in" was Rodman, and really Jordan himself in the 95-96 season. But go ahead, if you want to feel better by saying the Bulls wouldn't have won those 2 years (I'm sure majority of NBA fans disagree), and Dennis f'n Rodman won them 72 games, fine, this isn't going anywhere.

  • And LOL at "Mad Max" reference as he was going actually to stop Jordan. Let me guess, you like Houston?

C'mon man, I'll give it to you, the Rockets were a great, but there's a reason why they didn't win before or after MJ was back for good. I'll give a hint...it wasn't because of Dennis Rodman or Horace Grant.
