I picked up this cd this past weekend - it is pure magic. Ms. Royal's eloquent and creamy timbre and Mr. Gardner sensative command of the orchestra partner beautifully to present portraits so intricate and detailed but yet so smooth. This disc introduced me to Alwyn's MISS JULIE with its liquid tonalities and to the waltzlike selection from Messager's MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE, both enchantingly sung.

Major thumbs up for this new release.
