  • I would love to fire a flintlock musket one day and take a step back into history.

  • 3 dislikes, I'm gonna need 3 bullets....

  • Sorry, I'm British. When was the American civil war?

  • @caileansmith The American Civil War began in 1861 and ended in 1865. The most deadly American war in history.

  • @caileansmith the war started and ended at 1775-1783

  • @erv1993 that was the revolution , the civil war started at 1861 and ended at1865

  • Lol I'd take flintlock over percussion any day but that's just me.

  • do you know the name of the muskets with the were barrle tip like the one off bugs bunny

  • @sherk429 most likely a blunderbuss, basically a flinlock shotgun.

  • @Thrawn6211 wrong that was not flint lock that was a percusion cap.

thats the little thing he put on the hammer, flintlock is when the hammer has flint in it which hits a grinder sort of thing, and ignites the powder.

this rifle they used is a more advanced weapon than the flintlock.

  • @shiyboy4 maybe it was a blunderbuss adapted for caps.

  • @Thrawn6211 yea its deffinatly not a blunderbuss i can tell u that with conviction, its a musket from around the time of the civil war, the percussion cap, is like a that of a cap gun. which ignites the gunpowder instead of using open gunpowder with flint, it gives quicker ignition of the powder and is better suted to wet conditions. dont think u can adapt flint with percusion ud have to change the entire firing mechanism and possibly the barrel, and u just dont wanna do that to an antique

  • @shiyboy4 he asked what kind of muskets are the one's the hunter uses off Bugs Bunny, I told him most likley a blunderbuss. I wasn't talking about this guy's musket.

  • @Thrawn6211 oh yea sorry man, didnt notice that, yea well it is a cartoon but ur right it deffinatly looks like a blunderbuss.

its a blunderbuss which never needs to be reloaded and is semi automatic LOL

  • you needed all that shit to load a musket?

  • @IWIUSMCIMIUSSR

yeah i know you wouldnt get killed right away!

  • @IWIUSMCIMIUSSR no duh dipshit wat did you think you do have sex wit it

  • anybody know morse code?

  • just wondering if you could post a link or information for this fellow you get your patches from, I would like to try them. Great video, thanks

  • thanks man, i needed this for a presentation on civil war muskets in school

  • @SpartanDara117 just so you know this was not how the rifles worked in the War Between the States (Civil War). They where not even called muskets, they where called rifled-muskets. Now, that is a musket on the video, a percussion cap musket. The Enfield and the Springfield where the popular types in the War Between the States. I believe the Enfield is 1858 and the Springfield is 1860.

  • yes, i do know about rifled muskets. But they still load the same way as most muskets, through the muzzle. They just have some rifling in the barrel. That adds spin to the bullet. I got a 100 percent on my presentation anyway lol. so thanks for your help man. If you know anything more about rifled muskets that i don't, i would love to know. :)

  • @SpartanDara117 not too much, just they where revolutionary for the time and if you aimed carefully you could get 500 yards worth of accuracy off on of them, but I am glad you got a 100. I also must correct myself earlier. There was an 1858 Enfeild and an 1853 Enfeild, the earlier model was a 3 band type while the later model was a short 2 band, very porpular with calvary. The year on the Springfield is 1861 as well. Thanks for your interest.

  • Thanks a lot for all the info. 500 yards sounds like a lot for something at that time. Can you just explain what band 3 and band 2 are? i never really got that..

  • @SpartanDara117 Sure, a 3 band musket and the 2 band musket are very similar, there is only one thing that they differ in and that is the length of the barrel. a 3 band has, as the name suggest, 3 metal ring holding the wood, barrel and ram-rod in place. A 2 band only has 2 metal rings that serve the same purpose. A 2 band was popular with cavalry because it was lighter, and easier to fit on the horse, and it still packed a great deal of knock down power verses the single action revolvers,

  • nice gun just woundering is that gun a rifled musket or a smoothbore i'm thinking of getting a .45 smoothbore

  • Set the trigger THEN put on the percussion cap and THEN settle down with the hammer cocked. The man's a dangerous liability!

  • takes 2 min to reload anyway cool gun wish i had 1

  • Thx man i always wondered ;)

  • Firing muzzle loaders is fun. My friend's Dad had a few reproduction Civil War muskets and we used to shoot them all the time when we were kids.

  • awesome
